Palin's Boffo Ratings
September 04, 2008 9:58 PM
Nielsen tells us Gov. Sarah Palin's address last night drew almost as many eyeballs as Sen. Barack Obama's did last week.
"More than 37.2 million people tuned in for coverage of the third night of the 2008 Republican National Convention ... just 1.1 million fewer viewers than Barack Obama’s record-breaking speech on day four of the Democratic convention."
This included a big female audience of 19.5 million women — 5.2 million more women than tuned in for Sen. Hillary Clinton's, D-N.Y., speech of day two of the Democratic convention and 6.9 million more than watched Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., accept the Democrats’ vice presidential nomination.
These are numbers that will scare and unnerve Democrats.
Part of the Palin phenomenon is causing the Obama campaign to rally high-profile Democratic women to battleground states, such as Clinton, to Florida on Monday.

Oh how we need Hillary now, huh guys???
Just think if you had swallowed your big, fat ego and put her on the ticket, she'd be right there to help you out with female voters every single day, and there would be no need for these obvious ploys.
Talk about pandering.................

I am going to guess that is was the same 37 million people watching Obama last week due to $10 million in donations to Obama campaign after Palin speech. McCain camp reports $1 million in donations after same speech.

"Too bad Obama's ego is too big to have brought in Hillary and her supporters, 35% won't vote Obama. Thanks for caring about us enough to go it alone."
Guys..you don't get the point. The point was to trash Hillary's dreams of being president, period. Don't you realize that part of Obama's success was fueled by "I-hate-Hillary" voters. Now, it is done deal. She is no where on the democratic ticket, and the republicans are about to put a woman in the White House as VP. Say with me: Hello President Palin, a young, good looking female. See how far good looks and youth get you?

Nope, not scared. People are curious, I get that. That was probably a large part of Obamas numbers as well.

The only good thing coming out of this is: Hillary will never be president. Say with me: Hello President Palin. McCain will be there for four years and then Sarah will be nominated for president. Guess who will make the experience argument now? Um...the VP Sarah Palin.

He said America should reward risk takers.
So he supports the oil speculators and real estate speculators?
He said he was working for a couple in Michigan who lost on their "real estate investments."
Way to appeal to middle America McCain!
Real estate investments! Out of touch for sure!

Did McCain say he was "anointed"???!

The McCain speech was more heartfelt than the Obama speech. He has a good solid VP pick. I admire his values and service. I feel good about my choice to vote for him. Was a Hillary supporter but I feel good about McCain. He is an earnest hard working individual and I believe he will do the best he can. The McCain speech was more to the point than Obamas which was full of the same Change mantra and loaded with empty slogans.

Terrible first half...moving second half.
Not good enough.

Why should that unnerve the Obama camp. As long as the American people watch the Obama speech. It was the best of the entire Dem and RNC convention.

Sorry but Mccain seems a lot more sincere than Obama, who is arrogant and has done 3 years community service and never served his country. This speech is not a sermon among the Greek temple it feels like a conversation.

By the way, we get lots of earmarks here in Kansas, usually the result of armtwisting and lobbying by our Senators, Representatives, and Governors.
So, when Kathleen Sebelius was busy kissing up to Obama and trying her best to position herself for a VP slot, why didn't anyone dig into her political earmark activity?
How about it media? Wouldn't that have been equal treatment for Democrats and Republicans alike?
Oh, that's right!
Obama snubbed women and chose a Senator with experience for his VP.
Third party has to be the way to go, but however you vote...

Half of the service opportunities he just listed are exactly the types of things community organizers do!

Great, a tough talking, pretty lady and a war hero. We have Obama and Biden? Well I am sure that this couldn't possibly be more attractive to Middle America than to elect the first African American Pres. Yeah right!

You have to say, McCain has that, no one in the Demo team does. We're screwed, but hey, it's only four years, right? Thank Obama.

I used to love these stories from my grandfather of his days in the war...he retold them over and over and over and over and over. Brings back memories. :)

Well, you can't attack that. It would be too disgusting if anyone did.

While I probably will vote for a 3rd party candidate, I do find the effect of Sarah Palin interesting.
The Obama campaign and supporters are going rabid over her nomination to the tune of about $10 million a day.
Who would have thought that the Governor of Alaska could do more damage to Obama that a Senator from New York.

"Imperfect servant gives imperfect speech"
Posted by: Rick | Sep 4, 2008 10:55:41 PM
Yes, maybe lobbyists wrote the speech. But guess what? Obama pissed off Middle America and Clinton Dems. All did to ease the pain was to have Bill and Hillary speak for him. The Republicans are talking about money in their pockets and we're talking to them about race, gender and war. They have bigger problems, like survival and the Republicans are telling them what they want to hear. They've tuned out Obama and the Democrats. They're not like the volunteers, they'll hear what they need to know and go on about their chores, work, family. Then vote Republican. So thank Obama.
