Seemingly Nervous About Palin's Popularity, New Obama TV Ad Attacks McCain, Palin as Un-Mavericky

September 08, 2008 5:09 PM

The Obama campaign is issuing a response TV ad to McCain's "Mavericks" ad released this morning. (Linked to in previous post.)

Want evidence the Obama campaign is worried about Gov. Sarah Palin? Look no further than this ad, which attacks her, too.

Here's the script:

Obama VO:  I’m Barack Obama and I approved this message.

ANNOUNCER:  They call themselves mavericks. Whoa. Truth is ... they’re anything but. John McCain is hardly a maverick ... when 7 of his top campaign advisors are Washington lobbyists. He’s no maverick when he votes with Bush 90 percent of the time.

ANNCR: And Sarah Palin’s no maverick, either. She was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it.

(This shows a picture of Palin, campaigning for governor, holding up supportively a Bridge to Nowhere-supporting T-shirt.)

ANNCR: Politicians lying about their records?

(This shows the headline: “A NAKED LIE” - The New Republic, 9/08/08)

ANNCR: You don’t call that maverick ... you call it more of the same.

The major news media are not asking the candidates questions about their platforms. And they are treating Palin like a "hot potato" -- not asking any questions. Wake up! This is the future of the US! News media, do your job and ask questions of EVERYONE.

Kinda like handing a spanner to a pit bull and asking it to fix your car when it’s concept of fixing a car is peeing on the wheel-caps isn’t it?.

That’s of course is you still have wheel-caps on your car after someone not to be mentioned returns from Iraq and needs them to sell for another snort of cocaine or OxyContin ;-))

After watching gov Palin's interview I am scared. The combination of her total lack of experience and ultra conservative narrow minded views combined with the temper and backward thinking of John McCain is going to push this country to the point od no return if they become elected.

Obama is his own worst enemy. It is his clumsy mouth, influenced by obvious election panic that will put McCain and Palin in the Whitehouse. Obama can't handle stress...therefore he is no leader.

Since when does responding to attacks qualify someone as being "nervous"? Particularly when some of the attacks are just outright lies?

Why is no one calling the Republicans on their incredible hypocrisy? After months of needling Obama for lacking experience and being nothing but a good speaker and a "celebrity," for VP candidate McCain picks someone even LESS experienced, whose sold appeal seems to be... being a celebrity. Wow. I guess they're admitting they were wrong about Obama. All they have left to go after him with is LIES.

VOTE MCCAIN / PALIN

WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS THAT THE WAR IN IRAQ IS WON - WE SHOULD STAY THERE 100 YEARS (OR MORE) IF NECESSARY

WE DON'T REALLY NEED MONEY, AMERICA HAS TONS OF IT!

HAVING TROUBLE DECIDING WHETHER TO EAT OR PAY FOR YOUR MEDICATION? DO YOU HAVE A HEART CONDITION, TROUBLE BREATHING, OR ARE A PSYCHOPATH THAT COULD KILL A LOT OF PEOPLE IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR MEDS? TOUGH! WE NEED THAT MONEY TO FIGHT THE WAR IN IRAQ!

WE WANT SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS CONTROLLING OUR GOVERNMENT POLICIES
(THAT'S SOMETHING VERY GOOD)

THE ECONOMY IS STRONG, EVERYTHING IS FINE

I'M OK, YOU'RE OK

THINGS ARE GREAT THE WAY THEY ARE
SO LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY!

VOTE MCCAIN / PALIN

BECAUSE WE'RE GREAT

AND AMERICA IS DOING GREAT

News flash: Polls are stating that Polar Bears too are shifting to the Reb party.

Be scared.. Dem.. be very scared.

Actual quotes from the Polar Bears in Alaska:

'We liked the attention and hoopla we got in Alaska when our name was being tossed around on the endangered-list. If we get removed from the list, we may become famous!".

"It's our aim to be fur coats in the white house one day.. and with Palin setting that fashion trend, it's a real possibility and exciting!"

' "Personal discovery and growth and journey to make postive changes as a prez!" Get real. It hurts the brain to think for yourself and grow-- and as polar bears we need to conserve that energy. Just follow the crowd.. The Reb party is it!'

I don't think it can be argued that when Bill Clinton was President, we were better off as a country than we are now. McCain, is no Bill Clinton. Stop making excuses to vote for someone who you know isn't the best candidate for President, just because you want to vote against a man because he doesn't look like you, or hunt like you, or because he is not a lipstick wearing bitpull. Do what is right for you and your live as well as the other American that deserve real change.

Obama is such a liar. He wouldn't know a truth if it came up and bit him. He's the candidate who was calling for change
- and he selects Biden who is owned by MBNA and the epitome of a Washington insider. Biden and Obama ( or father and son ) are 2 of the most devious hypocritical politicians ever. If Obama wins ( or cheats his way ) into the presidency, It will be a pleasure to contact his fawning media when he screws up. It may become my full-time job.

NOW a Dem!

The Reb party now reminds me of the teacher who never belived in you... jeering at the Dem's personal discovery, et. all... >. Putting a fresh gender spin does not fool many despite the polls..

The Dem party reminds me of the teacher who belived and inspired you...

So THINK ! & make personal discoveries and change the world for even better.. sieze the day!!!

Obama was first against Florida's votes counting before he was for them counting--'course he had the nomination locked up by then.

Pundits a-plenty! Where is Edward R. Morrow when you need him? Guess with the other journalist as there don't seem to be many questions about substance or follow up questions to oblique answers.

William F. Buckley had his opinions, but when he held a debate both sides were expressed for the audience to evaluate. Now, media biased, leading questions make it apparent which side the questioner is on, and it is not the audience's.

Hopefully the race-gender-age arguments will lead to enough bashing, that clear platforms will emerge so the elected party can be evaluated for the next 4 yrs..

Billy Bob, Florida where the DNP now wants our votes.

I just don't get Republicans. Your country has sufferred a lot because of your very own party and now you people want to dig in to a deeper hole of economic adversities. If USA flunk it is because of their own people. There is somebody who has a comprehensive plan since the beginning of the campaign on how to fix the country, and there is this old wrinkle guy with one of his feet is already in the graveyard, lies, tries to mimic the other person plans and invented himself as somebody else to get elected, and you Republicans choose the wrinkle guy, with nothing to offer.
I think Americans are smarter than this. Loyal to your party is something, but loyal to the future of your country should be first.

Mavericks you say? Really?
Then care to explain why Keating has bundled 5 million for McCain's campaign? Yes that same Keating of Keating 5 fame.
Where's your maverick now?

As for the post about why is it BET only covered the DNC, that's called knowing your demographic. The question I would pose to you is why was the RNC receiving 5x the coverage of the DNC. What are YOU afraid of?

Wow, suddenly all the experts on Alaskan politics are patrolling the Internet. Who knew they even had it up in Alaska!

As for the cultural war, the ones fueling it are the Obama camp and the Democrats. Ask yourself why did BET (Black Entertainment Television) cover the Democratic convention and not the Reupublican convention?

What are they so afraid of?

Irony...

Dems lost to Bush in 2000
Dems lost to Bush in 2004
Dems lose to Bush in 2008 (when he isnt even on the ticket)

Excuses...

2000 it was hanging chads in Florida
2004 it was voting machines in Ohio
2008 it will be rascism in the USA

Frankly I can’t see what difference it will make who actually wins the election if as predicted, the US dollar plunges to the value of monopoly money, considering that it’s being printed without any standard backing. If McSame wins however, he will have Annie Oakley there taking out her moose-gun to protect him from the public who will be enraged by the loss of their homes and their inability to even buy food with the severely devalued dollar.

Whosoever wins will most probably not see their term out in the resulting social unrest, however a Republican government would probably be much more effective and brutal in suppression of any resulting public insurrection.

The collapse of the US $ is considered inevitable, because even if the iraqi adventure is terminated, the 3.5 trillion $ the US has accumulated in international debt will be impossible to resolve or at least will leave a pitiful legacy that will take many future generations of Americans to pay off.

I do however feel so sorry for the poor & middle classes who will be fatally hurt by losing everything they own. The GOP & corporation executives responsible for the whole financial mess will no doubt survive by swiftly converting their assets into Euro and stashing it into Swiss Bank accounts.

I do not think that even Obama will be capable of rescuing the US from the predicted calamity, but with a McCain continuance of an financially unsustainable war policy a $ crash will be surely guaranteed.

I honestly cannot see how anyone with a single ounce of common sense could be taking McBush seriously. I mean really, lets think about it for a minute.
