Understanding Palin
September 16, 2008 9:10 AM
I think I've cracked the code.
A tanning bed installed at the governor's mansion in Juneau.
Lost in all her coverage -- the notion that Gov. Sarah Palin, a college journalism major, is truly the first TV correspondent the nation is considering sending to the White House.
Is that a plus or a minus?

"Reagan worked as a radio sports announcer....and Palin a TV sports reporter. Get it now?'
Sorry, no REagan here, her experience for the VP slot is closest to Spiro Agnew.

If you want enunciation, breath control and a pleasant face, sure.
We had that from Hillary. It wasn't enough.
It doesn't disqualify Palin. It is, in fact, one of the things I like about her.
It isn't enough. But it's something.

McCain among other things
picked her to start a
fight with her neighbors -
the Russians.
McCain wants you to do your
duty in Georgia and Ukraine.

This is definately a plus! Wasn't Ronald Reagan was a sportscaster early in his career?
... Keep it up. I am sure you'll find something embarassing eventually.
...BTW, have you been able to find any on Obama or Biden? Or, is that file off limits?

jake, if it were you and palin, that would be a heavenly ticket. ;)
oh, i was thinking about the tanning bed issue: our family has a used one and we intalled it OURSELVES so that part was free. here's a perspective: in places like Alaska and also where I live in Western WA the winters are dark and dreary. one might say a little depressing. people her "go tanning" to get a bit of color and also to avoid seasonal affective disorder.
also, we northern euro descendents, it turns out, need a bit of daily sun to pump up our vitamin D and, apparently, aid our avoidance some nasty health issues as varied as ALS and periodontal disease (see: .
Before you cast Sarah as a vacuous sun worshipper, please step back for ten seconds and think.

She never learned the principles
of discretion and truth in
journalism.
Her disregard for truth has
carried over into politics.
She practices trash politics.
She's McCain's jumping jack.
He pulls her strings and she
spews out lies.

Any self-respecting society would have briefly allowed itself to over-indulge in her shallowness and sheer imbecility, politely according her enough airtime to hang herself with her own rope.
After digesting her and whatever vapid pronouncements she had made, the self-respecting society then would have evacuated her to the sound of trumpets, and thoroughly relieved, gone about its business of attending to the issues at hand.

This was just painful to watch. Plainly she has problems with teleprompters even when they're working properly. She sounds dumb as a post in this clip - it's as if she can't read and think at the same time!

UHH WRONG !!!!!!!!! - Ronald Reagan - TV correspondent at the opening of Disneyland 1955, host of Death Valley days, many appearances on Sunday talk shows from the 60s to the 80s...........

Apologies, Jake! I suddenly got the joke you were making-- you weren't trashing Palin quite so much (okay, maybe a little *G*) as you were making a lame joke about the vanity and jobskills of journalists, like yourself. Cute.
Still want to see someone talk about Obama's Iraq shenaningans. And am still getting awfully tired of folks claiming that Obama gets the same sort of "under the microscope" treatment that the others do. Heck, there's been more "hard-hitting investigation" of Biden's past foibles than there have of Obama's, and that's not saying much. The material is out there-- imagine folks combing Chicago with the same fervor they are combing Alaska at the moment.

I get a good laugh reading snarky comments about Obama's use of a teleprompter. Many of you have apparently not noticed that Palin is lost without one. McCain would be better off if he used one. It was pathetic watching him try to walk back his "fundamentally sound" comments yesterday, by stumbling through index cards. It ended up looking as if neither he nor the campaign had confidence that he could handle it spontaneously.

there was a lawsuit filed 8/21/08 in philadelphia challenging bho's eligibility to be president. it challenged on many levels: where born, his registration for school in indonesia as "barry soetoro", an "indonesian", and "islamic"(his mother married lolo soetoro an indonesian), his indonesian passport used at age 20 to go to pakistan, etc..
bho and dnc were served and must produce evidence by 09/24/08. the fec has until 10/21/08 for their evidence.
i cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was interesting--the anchor of the show found her a bit harsh by the end of that clip.
Did sports announcers in the '80's commonly use the expression "killing" to say one team was beating another? She said that twice.
She reminds me a bit of the characters in "American Movie."
Also reminded me of how she referred to Senator McCain only by his last name as "McCain" in the Charlie Gibson interviews.
Seems like more of a habit than any attempt to be folksy--

Let's remember when we are getting all worked up over the tanning bed...Obambi bought his home with a a sweetheart deal from a convicted felon. Where is all the lather over that...it seems to have been forgotten like everything else negative about him.

you have to be kidding if you think bho--at the top of his ticket--even begins to have the GOVERNING experience palin does.
bho has been a LEGISLATOR, and a poor one at that. the only reason he is even in the senate is due to the republican candidate dropping out and alan keyes, a devisive, black, republican candidate--stepping in.

We would be investigating Obama until Dooms Day all the things he has been involved in.
Thank the MSM and the DNC for the coverup. Democrats will do anything to get elected. It doesn't matter what Obama's past is. Ms. Polosi needs a puppet...and she has found one here. We are only a vote. Obama won't care about you. He will only enact legislation to get more of your money, and give it to those that don't contribute a dime.

Time to get her out of our system. This has been fun, and it has shown how a smart choice is not necessarily a wise one, just as Palin may be smart in a very limited way, but certainly not wise.
November 5 she can go back to shooting moose, wolves, marmots, and whatever else moves out there. She can also get back to her favorite book-banning project, and her favorite bridge-to-somewhere-or-other project. Or did she not want to do that after all? Hard to tell, what with all her flip-flopping.
Although, I have to admit she has inspired me to think I too can one day become a VP pick, because when I look across the lake, I can almost see Canada. That's a country that has lots of oil, I understand, and oil is the key to national security, as we just learned. So, I'm perfectly qualified for the job, and besides, I actually did reasonably well in Macroeconomics.
