When He's Facing a Tough Woman...Obama Goes on 'SNL'

September 11, 2008 11:38 PM

Live from New York ... it's Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

The campaign confirms that the Democratic presidential nominee will appear on the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live," with guest host Michael Phelps.

Last time Obama went on the show was in November 2007 (Watch HERE) -- when he was battling the political star power of a different woman, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.

Since that appearance, "SNL" emerged as a player in the presidential election, with Clinton at a Democratic primary debate in Ohio even referencing an "SNL" skit mocking media adulation for Obama. (Not to mention Tina Fey's "b*tch is the new black" paean to Clinton.)

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., hosted the show several years ago (HERE'S his in/famous skit singing Barbra Streisand songs), and executive producer Lorne Michaels has donated money to McCain's campaign. Michaels has said that the show is in discussions with Fey about coming back to portray her doppelganger, Gov. Sarah Palin.

The Obama campaign leaked the news of this second "SNL" gig to what seems to be rapidly becoming its favorite media outlet, People magazine, which scored the first joint interview with Obama and his then-freshly-named running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del. (And only one of two joint interviews the duo have done, period.)

Obama often complains about the media not covering enough substance, and focusing on too much entertainment-related tabloid nonsense.

Several former members of the "active service" of the CIA were employed and provided as "expert consultants" to Osama bin Laden's MAK.

Posted by: Deb | Sep 12, 2008 6:57:25 AM

MAK maintained a close liaison with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency through which the CIA funneled money and training to Osama bin Laden's MAK for the Afghan war with the Russians.

Maktab al-Khidamat the real Al Qaida group was renamed by US Intelegence agencies to hide from the American people the fact that the US government trained and funded the group for the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

So most of the American public doesnt know we created the monster!

Phillip

Sadam had nothing to do with 911 Bush told us he did McCain told us he did!

FOX news told us 27000 times it did it was a lie.

Al Qaida in Iraq has no links or ties to Al Qaida fact!

Al Qaida in Iraq is a term created by the Bush government to try to trick the American public into believing there is a link!

Department of defence information on : Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) is a group playing an active role in the Iraqi insurgency.

SO IT IS REALLY THE IRAQ FREEDOM FIGHTERS! JUST AS I WOULD FIGHT ANY NATION THE INVADE OUR NATION!

AQI is one of Iraq's most feared militant organisations and many experts regard it as the United States' most formidable enemy in the country.

The UN say's that the threat posed by AQI is exaggerated that a "heavy focus on al-Qaeda obscures a much more complicated situation on the ground.

AQI is in reality the Mujahideen Shura Council (MSC), in an attempt to unify Sunni insurgents in Iraq. However, its efforts to recruit Iraqi Sunni nationalists and secular groups were undermined by its violent tactics against civilians and its extreme Islamic fundamentalist doctrine. Because of these impediments, the attempt was largely unsuccessful.

According to both the July 2007 National Intelligence Estimate and the Defense Intelligence Agency reports AQI accounted for 15 percent of attacks in Iraq. However, the Congressional Research Service noted in its September 2007 report that attacks from al-Qaeda are less than two percent of the violence in Iraq and criticized the Bush administration’s statistics, noting that its false reporting of insurgency attacks as AQI attacks has increased since the "surge" operations began.

Al Qaida is not Al Qaida in Iraq.

Osama bin Laden's Al Qaida was named "al-Qaida" in an executive order issued by President Bill Clinton in 1998. Al Qaida was realy a group called Maktab al-Khadamat.

ITs BS

We named all the Iraqi freedom fighters Al Qaida in Iraq. When the truth is these two groups have no ties!

Quote from Deb:
FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska, Sept. 11 -- Gov. Sarah Palin linked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."

The idea that the Iraqi government under Saddam Hussein helped al-Qaeda plan the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, a view once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected by every one, even by the president Bush himself.

Your comment was taken from Washington Post which already been corrected, so check your facts. It was rejected that Saddam Hussein was not involved in 9/11, but we not fighting Saddam Hussein right now, we are fighting with Al Qaida in Iraq, who were involved in 9/11.

Actress, reality tv star and PETA activist Pamela Anderson is no fan of Sarah Palin. The Canadian-turned-American citizen was asked if she she'd seen the photo of VP candidate Sarah Palin, a proud hunter, with an animal fur in the background Anderson let loose.

"I can't stand her," Pam blurted out.

Al from N

Q: Let 's move on to what you say is the number one issue facing the United States in our time. And that is the challenge of addressing Islamist extremism. What credentials does Gov. Palin have -- in national security, diplomacy, foreign policy -- that qualify her to be your partner in that, on that issue: the fight against Islamic extremism?

McCain: Well, obviously the economy is also a major challenge facing America.

Q: No, I'm using your words, Senator McCain, you have said, this summer...

McCain: No, I said...

Q: That the number one challenge of our time is Islamic extremism...

McCain: No, I said the greatest challenge of our time is national security threats. I've also said that jobs and the economy are the number one issue facing America.

McCain: So, ah, but the point is Governor Palin was right on the issues. She understands energy, which is one of the fundamental issues of our national security. She was responsible for a $40 billion pipeline that's gonna bring natural gas to the lower 48.

*But as the New York Times reported yesterday, "the pipeline exists only on paper." And though Palin has thus far proved adept at "attracting developers to a project that has eluded Alaska governors for three decades ... Ms. Palin has overstated both the progress that has been made and the certainty of success."*

McCain: She knows more about energy than probably anybody else in the Unites States. She is governor of a state [pause] that 20 percent of America's energy supply comes from there.
*Leave aside the wildly overstated assertion that Palin is America's top expert on energy. McCain also claimed that the state produces "20 percent of America's energy supply," which is just wrong.

In 2005, Alaska produced 3.5 percent of America's energy supply.*

Individually, these were perhaps all minor flubs. But taken in total, they suggested a patten of lies or untruths.

Obama is losing it.
He's not in the spotlight anymore.
He can't brag about change, he's far from it.
He can't brag about experience, he doesn't have it.
He can't talk about his religious beliefs because of Reverend Wright.
He can't mention his middle name because it's Hussein.
He can't talk about Military experience because he never served.

Obama is scared of losing. I was more frieghtened of him winning.

Pray McCain/Palin wins. We need experience first.

She has 30 Rock do it if you must but I think we will be seeing the last of Sarah on the 4th of Nov.

Does anyone actually believe the yellow-journalism attack ads used by this network are going to stick to Palin? Look at the "news stories" put out there. If they are competing with the National Enquirer for tacky, specious reporting, then maybe we should be blogging on the Enquirer's website.

Posted by: CentristbyChoice | Sep 12, 2008 5:19:34 AM

Obama should do well - he's always good with a script (cue cards, teleprompters). Just hope his writers give hime something funny.

They should avoid down-home sayings, he always comes off badly... like the lipstick thing. He was trying to be cleaver and over-reached. If it's comedy, he should stick to dry, straight-man stuff. He's awfulwith zingers so he needs to avoid it.

Maybe a sequence where he talks about lipstick with Miss Piggy!

I am a Republican and even I can't get behind Palin. She is WAY out of her league. She looked really foolish with that interview. You can tell she had NO idea of what she's talking about. The most she knows about Russia is that she can Russia on a clear day from Alaska. DUH!! I not saying she's not a nice lady I'm just saying she's DEFINITELY NOT prepared or qualified to be the President.

Not blinking is also an attribute that could be given to a deer in the headlights, or perhaps a moose in the sights of Ms. Palin's gun. Neither of these would make a good candidate a few of John McBush's heartbeats away from the presidency, nor would this misguided and crazed idiot from Frostbite Falls that has been put on the national scene.

What other tough woman has Obama faced other than Clinton? Certainly not Palin, the who lacks confidence to stand before the media without hand holding, raising the sexist stereotype of women always needing to be protected and cannot stand on their own. Palin, is weak and needs men to protect her from the big bad press. She is too weak when confronted, only appears to be strong when she uses her position to bully and intimidate people out of their jobs. Hillary is the only tough one because she always faced her critics and the media head on like a real woman.

Posted by: weak | Sep 12, 2008 4:40:57 AM

Jake, I am confident that you would know that People Magazine is in the same genre as Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition, ect., and these media sources are for entertainment. Therefore, he is not complaining about them.

He is really complaining about press and news sources like ABC, CBS, NBC, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc, that prefer their nothingness type of fake journalism, erroring on the side of journalistic ethics by airing irrevelant **** like lipstick on the pig fake controversies.

Let People do the tabloid stuff, and ABC and the rest do report on news adhering to ethical journalism standards, like they are suppose to. He is just saying "do your job!"

Kitty: "why would you listen to such an alarmest?"

That's what people said in 2002 too. Scott was proven to be right, they were wrong.

Posted by: Polderboy | Sep 12, 2008 3:25:43 AM

Scott Ritter is THE Republican and Military man who has an in depth knowledge of the Muslim world.

He was one of several authorities who have predicted EVERYTHING that was going to happen and NOT going to happen when the US would invade Iraq.
He was part of the Weapons Inspections Teams in the 90s and has been dealing with Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran from the late 80s.
