After Dedicating Crass Song to McCain/Palin, Jay-Z to Rally Obama Supporters in Ohio
October 23, 2008 11:52 AM
The Obama campaign announced today that Jay-Z and NBA star LeBron James will hold a "Last Chance for Change" concert in Cleveland next Wednesday.
The announcement about Jay-Z comes a few days after he dedicated his 2003 song "99 Problems" to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
The lyrics to "99 Problems" include the famous line:
"If you're havin' girl problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one."
According to MTV News Jay recently dedicated the song to McCain and a "homegirl," whom he described as "the one who says 'You betcha.' "
"I'm gonna get in trouble for this," Jay said, laughing, "but f--- it, this is freedom of speech."

Brandon,
Your comments are refreshing - There is still Hope- We have to learn to live together and stop the ignorance-
And for Ryan C (The Real One-OMG!!)- If you want to stop living in the past- Don't celebrate- Christmas- Thanksgiving and /or any other holiday that celebrates past events- Its incredible how the Jews can say "Never Again" and it's lauded- But when African Americans discuss any aspects of Slavery, which the continuing ravaging effects are carried to this day,(We are also responsible for the continuance) the collective guilty consciousness of whites says stop living in the past- So it's only remember the past when i say it's OK- Ryan C- Maybe your the fake one!!

The song 99 problems if researched is not even about a woman dummies it's about a real dog " drug sniffing dog ". The song is a mock to police who profile and stereo type wealthy black men who drive nice cars and pull them over and always use the “ drug dog “ talk to intimidate a search of the vehicle. Do your homework first before you get schooled please. You conservatives are so quick to judge.

I live in Chicago with 10 million people. I'm white and went to a magnet high school with over 60% black and 20% hispanic.. Whitney Young Magnet. ONLY when you live with people who are different than you are can you learn that we are all brothers and sisters and learn to love one another. Palin loves the poor, white, uneducated, rural white person because they will do whatever their Pastor tells them to do. They have NO idea what a city is like or the problems that plague our cities. The Republicans DO NOT represent America, only a small, ideological sliver of it... that is NOT what we need. We NEED someone to put racism/ignorance (because they are the same thing) behind us in this country and point us in a direction where we are all picking one another up and moving forward. Without diversity this wouldn't BE America.

Let's get the facts straight. He changed the lyrics to "I've got 99 problems, but McCain/Palin ain't one."
Quit trying to drum up 'sexism' where there is none.

Valley Queen,
Comparing the atrocities of Slavery and the almost complete detruction of the Native Americans is i'm sure something that could take up a 1000 blogs- My only point was that there are many different types of "Real Americans"- And the Fact that Ms. Palin feels that the Rural WHITE American (Because that's what she's really saying)is the real american is a diservice to the spirit of this country- We are in this togethor and we should be working togethor to save this great country of ours- Because I choose to criticize this country for things that i see can be better does not make me less American- The spirit of the Founding Fathers was to be critical thinkers and stand up for your rights when you are not being represented which is the right of every American.

"This is the same song (99 reasons) Obama walked out to at his Iowa victory rally, when he was running against Hillary.
Obama received a lot of criticism for this, so he knows exactly what he is doing.
Obama has consistently shown disdain for woman (likable, sweetie, claws come out etc.) He pays them 77 cents on the dollar as compared to his male staffers, as opposed to McCain who pays them as much or more. McCain also has more woman in top positions than men.
Obama could not bring himself to ask Hillary to be VP, and now says woman should consult their families, doctor and pastor before having an abortion. I guess he doesn't think they have enough intelligence to make that decision on their own. Oh, and then there was Michelles lovely, sexist comment; How can Hillary run the white house, she couldn't even run her own house.
A McCain/Palin ticket will to more to empower women, than Obama.

Sharrieff: Say what you want about persecution....there has never been a part of our society more persecuted than the AMERICAN INDIAN. They always say American Indian, not Indian American.

Jay-z has never been violent. He is one of the highest paid entertainers in the business. He has been on Fortune Magazine and all types of publications. He has done so much for the community and is working in Africa to give them clean water. I personally like Jay-z and the commitment he has to our society. Read about him, and his wife Beyonce has it going on too!

Entertainers are usually on koolaide and don't have a clue what is going on in the world except in Hollywood. I know I don't want a koolaide drinking dude telling me how to vote. I can make up my own mind...the pollster will think I will vote for Obama, but when I get in the privacy of the voting booth I will vote for McCain. Others will follow because when they go to push the button they wil say "I just cannot vote for Obama."

Jeff
Who do you think you r fooling with the Illuminatti comment- R U saying that GW was not a member of Skull and Bones- Chaney- Haliburton- Black Water- Give me a break- Sounds like the Republicans Drip Down agenda to me!!!!
And just so we can get this clear-The Land Belonged to The Native Americans- and was Developed and Worked by Africans- There would be no America if not for the years of untold wealth building through slavery- If the definition of a Real American is someone who has sacrificed for thier country as John Macain tries to imply by his captivity, then as African Americans, no one has sacrificed more than us-

Referring to Palin as a ***** is offensive to me. That's not cool! She's obviously STUPID, but not a *****!

Hey Jeff, have you watched the latest SNL lately. Palin was tapping the ceiling to those words of wrap about she and McCain.
N-E-X-T...

hmmmm...nice, yes j you have freedom of speech and so do all of us women and we have the right to vote too and many of us will not vote for Obama, in fact will vote FOR Palin, and you can all scratch your pin heads and wonder why your chants of "choice choice choice...but what about CHOOOOOUUUUUIIIIIICE?" did not work with women this time around.

Obama must condem his anti-woman rhetoric by Jay-Z, who as a very influencial artist should know better than calling a woman "*****" and mocking their menstrual period.
The media must editorialize against this act as well.

In west Philadelphia born and raised, on the playground is where I spent most of my days. Just chillin' out maxin', relaxin' all cool, and shooin' some b-ball outside of the school. When a couple of guys, they were up to no good. Startin' makin' trouble in my neighborhood. I got into one little fight, and my mom got scared and she said, "You're moving with your auntie and uncle to Bel-Air." I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the liscense plate said FRESH and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I said that this can't be real, but then aww forget it, yo homes to Bel-Air. I pulled up to the house around 7 to 8, and yelled to the cabbie, "Yo homes, smell ya later." I looked at my kingdom as I was finally there, to sit on my throne, as the prince of Bel-Air.

Not the same song. 99 problems is not the song that Obama used to brush the haters off. Get it right before you post. The song that was played was called Get That Dirt off Your Shoulder.
