An Apology
October 30, 2008 11:53 AM
On "Good Morning America" this a.m., I misspoke.
I meant to say that, after a bruising primary battle, President Bill Clinton finally hit the campaign trail WITH Senator Barack Obama.
What I said, mistakenly, was that he finally hit the campaign trail FOR Barack Obama, which is not accurate. The former president has been campaigning for Obama for weeks. Last night was the first joint campaign appearance they made.
My apologies to the former president, and to anyone whom I misinformed. It was an accident, and I regret the error.

Does anyone know what a Civilian Security force is and why Obama thinks we need one? Why will it be equally funded? Posted by: Michelle | Oct 30, 2008 3:23:26 PM

Michelle! That means the press would have to actually ask him something meaningful and follow up for an answer, as opposed to just using .txt messages they get directly from the campaign!!!!!
Jees!

re: So I guess the insults hurled at Palin's daughter, the baby, moron, all of those things upset you, yes?
I have never heard anyone insult the baby or her daughter.Who said what and when?

Name calling in America at my country of origin the TRAPOS a lingo for traditional politician they called it "Character Assasination". When the opponent of the other had nothing to bring in the table of course this is the only avenue to take to heck with it! Anyway, what do you expect from a graduate from his class of 899 and the fifth from the bottom, he-he-he automatic! We called it "Pumpkin Award"!

"Obama himself said that Palin's family was off-limits."
Obama said his wife was off-limits but turns a blind eye when his campaign goes after the families of his opponents. Palin is getting a more vicious version of what was thrown at Hillary Clinton. Obama could stop it anytime he wished.
He knows it. He dissembles. Typical trick of the left but more typical of Obama than any candidate in my memory.
Means matter.

A prompt, direct, and sincere apology. We all make mistakes, but not everyone takes responsibility for them.
Thank you, Mr. Tapper.

Obama himself said that Palin's family was off-limits. McCain has not gone there either. It is not the candidates' fault that so many in America lack human decency.

"It’s when we get into the name calling and trashing someone’s family and character is when in my opinion you cross the line."
So I guess the insults hurled at Palin's daughter, the baby, moron, all of those things upset you, yes?
That would make you unique among the Obama supporters who rage when anything remotely critical is said about their candidate but fail to notice the gaslight treatment of Hillary's supporters, and the trashing of Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain.
They talk a line about racism but no one in the McCain campaign has come close to that. Sexism? That has been a dominant theme in the Obama campaign.
If you are the exception, then say something quick because this is the year American journalism died.
Some say a loss for Obama would mean civil war. From reading the comments here, the Huffington Post and Jon Taplin's blog, one thing is certain: it won't be civil.

I'll betcha most of all the people complaining that Obama will raise their taxes, do not even make $250,000.00 which is what Obama stated. The rest are fear mongering Republicans like Joe the Plumber who not only owes income tax, he owes his wife support payments for his own children. The McCain campaign have sure picked a real stand up guy to fight for people in business. No one caught him in his lie but if you consider he has a lien against his house, his credit rating would not support a loan to even buy a business.
I thank Jake for correcting his error, and to the critics -look at your own campaign which applauds losers like Joe the Tax Evading Plumber.

Good for you JAKE!!
To the Obama haters, let me explain; racism can come in many different ways and it usually will surface with hatred and ignorance. If you disagree with his views and ideas I can completely and respectfully understand. It’s when we get into the name calling and trashing someone’s family and character is when in my opinion you cross the line. A key question is to ask yourself are you one of those people that when asked if you are racist you respond “No I Have a lot of Black Friends" knowing that the last person of color you have spoken to was at the line in the grocery store. If that’s you, then it would not matter if you agreed with every idea Obama had you would never vote for him. You would find every other reason to justify it, but his skin color would be the bottom line. So really why spread your hatred. Thankfully there are Americans that judge their friends, politicians and people they meet by the character of that person not by skin color.

OH THAT JAKE!!! (NO. 1 IN A SERIES).
Pathetic, all you have to do is give 30 secons worth of prepared remarks and you can't even get your facts straight. Yet you mock and mock Joe Biden, who speaks for hours each day, when he makes an off-the-cuff comment.

And after the election, those who have asked the right questions will be treated to a fantastic spectacle of the Democratic coalitions fighting each other at the door to the Oval Office. Obama set the example by running a campaign of deceit, misdirection and intimidation. If you think that is smart, well, then keep doing it. Let's see how that works out for you.
It's one thing to campaign. Governing is quite another. Means matter.
Good luck. You'll need all you can get.

** I honestly thought that was the campaign the republicans were running! Goodness, if you seen all this negative literature I've received from the RNC in the past week, you would definitely change your tune! However, I am proud to say Obama/Biden stuck to contrasting the difference between the democrats and the republicans.
Obama didn't mention Gordon Liddy.
Obama didn't mention John McCain cheating on his first wife.
Obama didn't mention Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter being pregnant and unwed.
Obama didn't mention that Cindy McCain was a drug addict that stole prescription medicine from the sick.
* Obama did mention McCain voted w/ George Bush 90% of the time.
So let not the RNC and its supporters fool you! They have been running this type of campaign since George Bush stepped into office the first time and they will not stop. They will not change! Republicans know NOTHING about change~> Thats why we are where we are today...
I'm not really understanding why the conservative party is complaining... we gave them a shot. They failed. Let's fire them and hire someone new before the couple of bad apples spoil the whole bunch!

Thanks - but when do we get the apology about the Haaretz story on Obama, France and Iran? I like Haaretz too, but that was an international whopper. If you already apologized and I missed it - I'm sorry. If you didn't - it's time.

a cut-and-paster... cp... why don't you have Palin call you ourt on the stage Jake?.. Jake the Paste, since Joe the plumber missed his gig they probably could use you as a fill in.
Posted by: steve | Oct 30, 2008 1:59:41 PM
No problem, Jake. We all make mistakes. Example: people voting for McCain.

@john doe:
When reporting the facts becomes spiteful, the campaign has become a death march to the sea.
The angry ones are the Obama supporters who spew invective at anyone who questions them, their candidate, or their platform.

Waiting for the apology for your pretending to be a fair and balanced journalist when all along you were in the tank for Obama.
Posted by: Thelma | Oct 30, 2008 1:48:32 PM
sorry jake now I see you just posted my other post , guess you get the last laugh.
Posted by: rachel | Oct 30, 2008 1:38:14 PM
Jake where's my post, like I said good you said sorry, please tell your fellow reporters to do the same. Hillary and Bill have done much more than obligated, especially with the lack of help McCain is getting from his former primary contenders. Just like Obama was not obligated to offer up the vp just cause Hillary got 18 mill votes, Hillary was not obligated to do all the campaigning she has for him, even though she chose to.
