Another Man Yells 'Kill Him!' About Obama At Palin Rally

October 14, 2008 7:01 PM

The Times-Tribune of Scranton, Penn., reports that at a rally for Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, it got a little ugly again.

From live-blogging:

"Chris Hackett addressed the increasingly feisty crowd as they await the arrival of Gov. Palin.

"Each time the Republican candidate for the seat in the 10th Congressional District mentioned Barack Obama the crowd booed loudly.

"One man screamed 'kill him!'…

"The outburst came during a round of booing from the crowd after Mr. Hackett said Mr. Obama should come to Pennsylvania and learn what the state's values are."

Couple thoughts.

One: I'm a Pennsylvanian. "Kill him" is not representative of the state's values. Nor is this, from Palin-haters.

Two: Interesting post from the conservative Ace of Spaces about such yellers. "Some Republicans are, alas, the exact same sort of unsophisticated angry morons who shout things like 'Terrorist' about Obama when McCain is speaking, thus putting him on the extreme defensive, or having temper tantrums on blogs when the proprietor requests they refrain from exposing him to any lawsuits. They substantially vindicate every stereotype the left and MSM has about us, and make the rest of us not only look bad, but make us squeamish from even being political associates. And they lose us precious votes….Wanna know why we're losing? Wanna know why McCain had to make a statement about Obama not being dangerous and being a good and decent man? Because you geniuses embarrassed him with your stupidity and compelled him to say that."

Why do Obama supporters like to make up cutesy names for candidates?

Posted by: StereR | Oct 16, 2008 1:27:15 PM

FRAUD.

All the news that fits the agenda..

Did this come from the Obama campaign talking points too?

No wonder the MSM has no credibility anymore.

Remember when a repulican yelled out "lets get that *****" to Hillary Clinton when she was in the running earlier this year?

Posted by: TK | Oct 16, 2008 12:31:17 PM

Bogus, fake, fraud. It never happened.
The Secret Service made a report and they never heard anything.
Quote:
"The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded."

According to another Weekly Standard article, "Secret Service on Scranton 'Kill Him' Report: "We Have Yet to Find Someone to Back Up the Story," the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader has reported "that not a single person interviewed by the Secret Service heard this outburst."

In my last post, what the hateful words by the man on the street and Sandra Bernhard show is that such conduct by the left, since it goes against the stereotypes created by the left about liberals and conservatives, gets an absolutely free pass.

Posted by: Erika | Oct 15, 2008 2:47:49 PM

The Weekly Standard has pointed out that in the story which first reported that a man said “Kill him” - “In Fla., Palin Goes for the Rough Stuff as Audience Boos Obama” (Washington Post) - he was clearly saying that about William Ayers, not Obama:

****
"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,' " she continued. ("Boooo!" the crowd repeated.)

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.
****

Even Dana Milbank, the Washington Post reporter who reported it, agrees: “Milbank said that his impression was that the man meant Ayers, not Obama,” (“Milbank: Secret Service hasn’t called UPDATE,” Politico).

The Associated Press, among others, distorted what Milbank wrote, however: “The Secret Service confirmed Friday that it had investigated an episode reported in The Washington Post in which someone in Palin's crowd in Clearwater, Fla., shouted ‘kill him,’ on Monday, meaning Obama. There was ‘no indication that there was anything directed at Obama,’ Secret Service spokesman Eric Zahren told AP. ‘We looked into it because we always operate in an atmosphere of an abundance of caution.’ (the AP’s distortion isn’t surprising, since they also distorted what Palin said in her interview with Charlie Gibson about Russia and Alaska, and they distorted remarks she had made on praying about the Iraq War, which Gibson did also during the interview, perhaps following their lead).

I doubt the mainstream media will ever correct this misrepresentation, however.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that someone on the street yelled out as Palin passed, “Let’s stone her, old school!” (“Palin hears plenty of boos,” Philadelphia Inquirer).

And last month, comedienne Sandra Bernhard was reported to have threatened Palin would be raped if she came to Manhattan. The comment, made during one of her routines, has a definite racist side as well. Some weeks later, after being dropped from a woman’s shelter event, she then denied it, although she can’t recall what she said.

Here is the AP on the matter: “The shelter cut the comedian after Bernhard was quoted referring to Palin being ‘gang-raped by my big black brothers.’ Bernard originally defended her routine, saying it was part of a larger piece from her one-woman show about ‘women, racism, freedom and the extreme views of Gov. Sarah Palin’" (“Sandra Bernhard Says She Never Used Term 'Gang Rape' Regarding Palin.”)

"What is not understandable is the fact that so many people including ABC-media are backing up The Candidate whose U.S.-born citizenship status is suspicious"

Just because John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone does not make him ineligible for the office of the President.

To start with, John Mc was not a naval fighter pilot, he was a pilot in the A4 single engine light attack aircraft. His command of VA-174 was bestowed on him as an honorary position, similiar to several other ex-POWs returning from captivity. And the fact that his daddy was an Admiral probably weighed on the decision to give him this honorary command. And VA-174 is not the navy's largest aircraft squadron. Considering John graduated fifth from the bottom of his USNA class makes me wonder what his performance grades throughout primary and basic flight training.

Being my work allows me to use my computer while I work I decided to bring it with me and Yes the Alaska State Constitution reguire that the state budget is balanced.

As for heidi's comment:

Those things on that site you put a link to are very nasty and vile but they are not supported by the Obama/Biden Campaign. There are many sites that have similar nasty things being said about Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

So as I have said before there are mean and also to use your word "pathetic" supporters on both sides but the key word in that satement is SUPPORTERS.

Posted by: Josh | Oct 15, 2008 12:38:50 PM

Before I get in trouble I am not 100% positive that it is in the Alaska Stat Constitution that the budget must be balanced but I have heard it from an Alaskan before I have to get to work though and I will research that when I get home to make sure it is true if it is not I will admit I was wrong and apologize.

Posted by: Josh | Oct 15, 2008 12:08:51 PM

Well that is true I suppose,

What i was trying to make a point about how her two years as a governor wasn't exactly showcasing "executive experience", and we have evidence of her bad judgement (left her town swimming in debt) and all that about her being Commander of the Alaska National Guard (when she has not made any decisions commanding them so it's all pretty much a moot point).

Posted by: Grey Matter | Oct 15, 2008 11:56:11 AM

Gey Matter

As far as Palin balancing the budget in Alaska it isn't her that balances it she just signs it or vetoes it. Also it's in the Alaska State Constitution like it should be in our countries that the budget must be balanced.

To be clear, at least in public rallies, Democrats have not encouraged such behaviour and riled up their supporters to such extent.

Posted by: Grey Matter | Oct 15, 2008 11:43:43 AM

Exactly. What Josh said is absolutely right.

The thing is you don't see Democrats at rallies screaming "off with his head!" or "Kill him!" directed at Cheney, McCain or anyone. They boo the Republicans, but they do not wish such extreme things on them.

Posted by: Grey Matter | Oct 15, 2008 11:42:39 AM

Democrats would never wish death on anyone like this.

Now, go over to the Cheney heart problem article and read the nice comments left by democrats.

Flaming hypocrites!!

Has anyone on here ever said that there are not Democrats that are hypocrites. If there are then they are just as ignorant as some of the Republicans on here are. And there are Ignorant Democrats as well. Can you admit that there are "Flaming hypocrites!!" in the Republican party or are you one of the ignorant Republicans.

Posted by: Josh | Oct 15, 2008 11:36:59 AM

It's all nice and all to toss around nice-sounding and portfolio puffing words like "executive experience".

Look, whatever experience McCain has, it doesn't seem to be aiding his judgement. Flip-flopping over bail out. Rushing to Washington to "Fix" the bail out- and contributes to its blowing up after he declines to take a stand to rally the House Republicans.

Sarah Palin? PLEASE. She doesn't seem to be able to balance the budget (it's only balanced because Alaska is so rich in oil it's pretty hard to bankrupt it). She certainly is reckless and perhaps her lack of studying of law resulted in her leaving Wasilla swimming in debt by building a sports hall on a peace of land without ensuring that the state had gotten all the deeds to the land or something, resulting in millions of dollars in lawsuits.

Obama may not have much executive experience, but he has shown to be very intelligent and a very deep thinker who weighs things carefully and looks before he leaps. His running of his campaign has shown his very good strategy. His choice of an experienced running-mate shows that too.
