October 14, 2008 7:37 AM
ABC News' Brian Ross has a recording of Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Fla., firing his mistress.
Listen HERE.
"I just learned today about the serious allegations concerning Congressman Tim Mahoney," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "These charges must be immediately and thoroughly investigated by the House Ethics Committee."

To their credit, the Democrats, both party leadership and netroots, are quickly repudiating Mahoney. Too bad there isn't time to get him off the ballot by November, but it looks like he's not going to be around for very long. I'm glad that at least ONE political party is standing up for some basic ethics. Contrast this to the national Republican reaction (or lack thereof) to the Troopergate findings that Sarah Palin abused her power as Governor, and the last eight years of Bush corruption and cronyism.

Oh dear. Someone abusing their powers? Haven't we heard about this before recently? This kind of stuff goes on all the time. That's what I've said all along. Doesn't make it right. It's when they get caught or when someone is out to get them when the **** hits the fan. Everyone acted so 'dismayed' with Palin. It's old news. It happens all the time. So do affairs. Unfortunate, yes. Reality, yes. Shocking, no - so why pretend to be so mortified and shocked when you hear about it.
