Ken Duberstein, a White House chief of staff for President Ronald Reagan and an adviser to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in 2000, tells CNN that he will vote for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
"Well, let's put it this way," Duberstein says, "I think Colin Powell's decision is, in fact, the good housekeeping seal of approval on Barack Obama."
On MSNBC, Duberstein also voiced skepticism about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Getting on his plane in Des Moines, Iowa, just now, Obama reacted to the news when I shouted out a question about it, saying, "I want everybody's vote. And I'm grateful for Ken's vote."

And as for Palin:
A lot of people LIKE her and, until
Obama sent his goons up to Alaska, she had earned the remarkable favorable rating of 80 percent!
She has faced adversity and made the right decisions for her family.
She is a "pro=lifer", but isn't one of othe "pro-choices" "pro-LIFE"?
She worked with big busines to wangle an annuity for each and every citizen of the great state of Alaska.
She has decreased the governor's expenses considerably despite the size of her family.
Palin stands up for what she thinks is right!
She tried to get her brother-in-law kicked off the trooper force because he had tazered his autistic eleven year old son.
Down here, we call that CHILD ABUSE!
Sarah's only mistake was that she felt it should be handled by the trooper group (police force) and put the ball into their hands.... even though she had the clout to discharge the guy.
But Obama saw this situation as a great political gem.... and his goons took up their pick axes and adzes and dug a deep and dirty hole in which to hang poor Palin.
The outcome of it all was that Sarah got a slap on the hand for attempting to have her brother-in-law defrocked FOR CHILD ABUSE..... because the investigating team felt that was slightly unethical.
And the CHILD ABUSER is still on the force!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch in Illinois, the Tony Rezko trial was once again put on hold.
How much did that cost?
This is the kind of politics Sarah Palin wouldn't play!

"And Obama says he can defeat the Taliban, and Al queda in afghanistan. How long will that take."
Well..... Obama is an accomplished military mogul..... so it should take..... no longer than an hour and a half.
He'll take care of our economy in an equally swift and painless manner.
And if you can swallow this kind of swill...... there's ton more out there...equally fantastic.

First, McCain has tried to stop people from from making nasty comments about his competition.
He has told them that B O is not a bad person, and is deserving of their respect.
B O, on the on other hand, feels it's quite alright for his supporters to compare McCain with George Wallace, a noted racist.
He did NOTHING to negate this slur.... which is kind of funny, since, John and Cindy are the proud and loving adoptive parents of Bridget who they found as a baby in Bangledesh and brought to the states for medical attention before falling in love with her.
Now THERE's a racist family if ever I saw one!.
But most of the dirty jokes and snide comments are made by his bloggers... paid for and not... so that he can continue to protect his image from the slime and slurs of his campaign underneath his teflon vest.
As for Obama:
I don't want him, you can have him, he's too PAT for me!

Seems the Republican Party has a bigger PUMA problem than the Democratic Party.

We've all see what the past 8 years of cutting taxes for the rich has done.
It's over for the Republicans in this election.
The electorate has had enough of Republican failures.

but what is john mccain going to do for the poor working class people?
and how will he achieve victory in iraq?

"You liberals project your own moral failings onto everyone else."
This from a guy who was proud of his support of the racial attack hoax and has spent the last month lying on this blog on a daily basis.
You and the right wing are going to LOSE on Yuesday Concern in OH and LOSE BIG.

Concerned in Ohio -
Now you've completely confused me. Going back to your initial post on this subject...when the poor or middle class get a tax cut, it's equivalent to a welfare check. When the wealthy get a tax cut, they're just keeping more of their own money. Huh?
We've had a progressive tax system in this country since 1910. It has always redistributed wealth. It hasn't been called "socialist," "redistributionist,""collectivist," or "Marxist" until the McCain/Palin stunt-of-the day campaign.
Even Senator McCain admitted on Larry King the other night that he doesn't believe that Senator Obama is a "socialist." Maybe you folks can move onto another faux "issue."

To be skeptical of Palin is right on she is the bad dream on Halloween just the thought of her maybe one day taking charge of the White House makes one shiver with fear she would have us in another war, she is not ready to be VP or President for that matter. But for McCain to have made such a rash decision for such a serious position was not good judgement on his part he has always waited until Obama made a decision or spoke up about a issue than he would react not mavericky.

It will always amaze me at how the republican can con poor, working class people to vote against their interest.
they must call us rubes, all of the time.
cindy mccain looks as if she is being careful to make sure she does not get to close to the people, she walks and looks at the people as if they are specimens.
do not think the mccain will be working to help the poor and working class.
stop fooling yourselves.
vote your interest this time.
don't let any more of your hard working,
sons and daugthers go and get killed for mccain war.
what will the victory that john mccain speaks of look like?
how do you mccain supporters see victory in iraq?

DARTH...
You are confused. Obama's tax cuts are not for the rich. You haven't been paying attention.
His plan is better tho.

Jake, you've done such a great job this election cycle helping us deepen our understanding of economics and foreign affairs.
How about some help with religion - perhaps you can run a story about the "Christians" praying at the molten calf statue on Wall Street the other day and why so few people on the right have any sense of irony?
Posted by: Flash Override | Oct 31, 2008 6:05:09 PM
I am dumbfounded at all of you who buy this notion of tax cuts for the rich. Obama's "spreading the wealth" idea is socialism. It is taking from one class to give to another. His mentors and early associates are socialists. The US does not prosper with high taxes and regulated business. IT HAS NEVER WORKED! Final note: If you saw a homeless him and gave him your coat and some money, that would be charity. If I saw a homeless man and then forced you to give him your coat and money or I'd throw you in jail, that is extortion and theft. That is Obama's plan.

"Did Bush have the government issue checks to rich people?"
Stimulus checks ring a bell?
Gotta love right wingers who are able to block any memories not fitting the current argument.
Its almost as comical as their paranoid delusions that a progressive tax code equals socialism.
Posted by: Ryan C | Oct 31, 2008 6:01:23 PM
So McCain giving a $2500 tax credit for health care.....is that welfare or socialism or both under the right wing dictionary?
Posted by: Ryan C | Oct 31, 2008 5:49:04 PM
Anyone who has ever voted for President based on tax issues, has voted to redistribute wealth. The ONLY question is whether we redistribute it up or down. Bush redistributed it upward, and now we want it BACK.

Concerned in Ohio -
How does a middle class tax reduction translate into a "welfare check"?
Following your logic (or lack thereof), the Bush administration has given a $700,000 "welfare check" to the country's wealthiest people for the past seven years.

well at the palin iowa rally sarah did not say obama' middle name, but someone in the audience did shout the N-word.
Sarah Palin (visibally a little mixed on it) but she kept going, maybe she should have stopped and said, let's not call people names anymore. but she stayed on her speech.
No matter what you think about either canidate, there is a difference in the type and tone of the mccain/palin rallies, and obama/biden rallys.
Why is there so much hate speech coming from the mccain camp?
and don't say it is the media,
the media will go for a story anywhere it can get it.
if there was as much hate talk coming from obama rallys as there is mccain rally, the media would report it.
so why is there so much hate talk from the mccain/palin rallys?
If John mccain wins this election,
I hope someone would ask him if he regrets the hate talk, and how he has fueled this country to be divisive.
real virginia vs fake virginia?
pro american vs against americans
it is not right.
why so much hate speech from mccain/palin?
