GOP Rep.: Liberals Hate Real Americans
October 21, 2008 5:33 PM
"Liberals hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God.”
So said Rep. Robin Hayes, R-N.C., at a rally in North Carolina Saturday for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who was not there at the time of the comments.
New York Observer reporter Jason Horowitz reported the comments (he left out "and accomplish") after which Hayes spokeswoman Amanda Little protested, saying that Hayes denied making the comments.
The Politico, however, tracked down the audio.
Guess what?
He said it.
"I genuinely did not recall making the statement and, after reading it, there is no doubt that it came out completely the wrong way," Hayes said in a statement. "I actually was trying to work to keep the crowd as respectful as possible, so this is definitely not what I intended.”
Hayes made the comment one day after his colleague Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., suggested that the Obamas have "anti-American" views, and called for the media to investigate which members of Congress are "pro-America," and which are "anti-America."

I am registered Republican and I am disappointed people are not wise to ploys used during campaigns just to get votes. Liberal and conservative - very tired of these connotations! People study the issues of each and how the issues truly affect you and effect into the future.

The Republican party is the party of division. The Democratic party is the party of inclusion. The republican party relies on division to win elections. That's why they always use wedge issues to pit one group of americans against another. They pit black against white, straight vs gay, well off vs struggling american, old vs young, city vs suburb/rural. big cities vs small towns, pro gun vs anti gun, pro life vs pro choice, south vs north etc. That's the republican playbook, they have to pit us against each other to win and they have become experts at it. Republicans need to foster division in order to stay in power to continue their policies of helping corporations and the wealthy while ignoring struggling americans. It's up to voters to punish them for ruining our great nation and their behavior of putting corporations and greed over struggling americans.
Unite and work together. Vote Democratic.

One can easily distinguish posts by gender on threads such as this.
Some Women think with their hearts while they leave the brain unengaged.
They here sound bites, punchlines and false stump speeches and without verifying, they serve as willing vectors for disseminating such falsehoods.
I stand in awe of Women. But they need to think more with their brains and do away with excess emotions.
For misguided statements made by some of these GOP Politicians, I am not suprised.
An apple does not fall far from its tree.

Liberal died without labels in every American war.

There's a really smart candidate out there who keeps saying "Don't boo, just vote." In this case, don't complain, just donate. We just raised $800,000 for Michele Bachmann's opponent after her very hateful remarks on Hardball last week. Send a message to Hayes' opponent today. Donate to Larry Kissell NOW!

ryan quotes: ""Until this moment, senator, I think I never gauged your cruelty or recklessness....Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?" "
Nice histrionic quote aimed at painting the oppostion as right wing nut cases. A bit of history, Ryan, while it was true that McCarthy went far over the line in his pursuit of spies accessing the US Government, it would be revealed many years later (1995) that, he was right. Don't take my word for it. Read the NSA reports about the Venona Papers. Here is a quote:
"The translations disclose agents with access to the White House, Congress, and political parties, as well as agents in the media and in high-tech defense industries. New York message nos. 1635, 21 Nov 44 and 12-16, 4 Jan 45 reveal assets and infighting relating to ROBERT’s (Greg Silvermaster) large KGB net in government departments and agencies in Washington."

The Democratic Party headed by Senator Obama has become the party of hate, bitterness, ageism, genderism, racism and abolute distortions. Obama speaks to the weak minded and they believe him.

Let see the Republicans have called Obama a baby killer, somebody who palls around with terrorists, have called Colin Powell a racist for endorsing Obama, have questioned Obama and his followers patrtiotism and have referred to them as UnAmerican. I could keep naming them, but I'll keep it short.

By the way, on September 11th, democrats and liberals died. In our military, democrats and liberals serve. Now, you say only republicans love America. I'm mad. I'm going to do something about about. I'm voting. I'm sending money to send these nutty people home and away from leaderhsip positions in America. God bless America! I'm a Christian, too!

It's too bad that you don't like that premise, but its fact.

Sorry Brenda but you are so wrong. I am catholic and voting for Obama.

Sorry, I was talking about Martinez from Florida. He should be on the progressive radar in 2010. Go read his record.

It makes me sick to read these posts that try to PRETEND that a Christian can be a liberal and vote for Obama. It's NOT possible. You cannot SUPPORT abortion if you are a Christian, its as simple as that.

I am a Catholic. I think a woman should have the right to choose. Would I do it myself? No.
Posted by: Jwench | Oct 21, 2008 8:11:14 PM
Christians also cannot support offensive wars, either.
McCain dropped bombs in Vietnamese people.
Obama supports the "right to choose".
So you kind of have to pick the lesser of the two evils... and I think that is best left up to the individual and his or her conscience.
I have never voted pro-choice in my life, but I hate it when people tell me that Republicans politicians aren't also guilty of doing the devil's business.

This guy is up for reelection in 2010. He should stay on the progressive radar. His record is worthy of review, guys.
By the way, I'm a Christian,too.

Mack,
Instead of constantly bashing Obama like you do, why don't you tell us why John McCain is a better choice."
Because he is not Obama. I will probably end up voting for Nader. He's the only person that I could really vote for in good conscience.
