Neocons for Obama?

October 20, 2008 8:16 PM

George Packer from the New Yorker magazine reports on an email he got from Ken Adelman today indicating that the neo-con is planning on voting for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

As Packer points out, this is no small thing. Adelman was hired by Don "Rumsfeld at the Office of Economic Opportunity under Nixon, was assistant to Defense Secretary Rumsfeld under Ford, served as Reagan’s director of arms control, and joined the Defense Policy Board for Rumsfeld’s second go-round at the Pentagon, in 2001. Adelman’s friendship with Rumsfeld, Cheney, and their wives goes back to the sixties, and he introduced Cheney to Paul Wolfowitz at a Washington brunch the day Reagan was sworn in."

Said Adleman, to Packer: "Why so, since my views align a lot more with McCain’s than with Obama’s? And since I truly dread the notion of a Democratic president, Democratic House, and hugely Democratic Senate?

"Primarily for two reasons, those of temperament and of judgment.

"When the economic crisis broke, I found John McCain bouncing all over the place. In those first few crisis days, he was impetuous, inconsistent, and imprudent; ending up just plain weird. Having worked with Ronald Reagan for seven years, and been with him in his critical three summits with Gorbachev, I’ve concluded that that’s no way a president can act under pressure.

"Second is judgment. The most important decision John McCain made in his long campaign was deciding on a running mate.

"That decision showed appalling lack of judgment. Not only is Sarah Palin not close to being acceptable in high office—I would not have hired her for even a mid-level post in the arms-control agency. But that selection contradicted McCain’s main two, and best two, themes for his campaign—Country First, and experience counts. Neither can he credibly claim, post-Palin pick."

On the other hand -- Adelman infamously suggested US forces would experience a "cakewalk in Iraq." So it's not like his judgment is unassailable.

1,100+ murders just in Juarez alone this year so far... More than all Iraq soldier casualties in 2007.
Iraq? I'm terrified of armed Mexicans.
And McCain "says" he'll secure the border before revamping immigration, whereas Barky favors legalizing most illegal aliens...

Meanwhile, not a peep about "immigration" from either candidate on the campaign trail.

I'm just sayin'...

Here's my Cockeyed, but On Target Election 2008 Syllogism.

Premise - Neocons Don't Like Sarah Palin
Antithesis - Liberals Hate Sarah Palin
Conclusion - Sarah Palin for President!

And this from a committed Independent tired of being bullied by the Liberal-Left-Neocon Leviathan.

Obama genuflecting at AIPAC over invading Iran gave Adelman the "necessary" qualifications he looks for in a presidential candidate.

Simple, and as sinister, as that.

he said invasion would be cakewalk
and why, it was

it was the occupaiton that was not easy

I've noticed Obama's position changing from Dove to Hawk. That is essentially all I have to say. Draw your own conclusions. As for abandoning McCain, Adelman is not a conservative. A neo-con is not a conservative. A neo-con is a hawkish, foreign interventionist, liberal interested in empire. Not a conservative at all.

It's more like this
Community Organizer,or Member of PTA
State Senator, or small town Mayor
US Senator, or Governor
Visionary and Understands the world, or

I find it so incredibly telling that some profess Obama to be part of some "New World Order" or that he's tied to Neo-Cons (another Right-Wing reverse psychology smear). The TRUTH is that the ship is sinking and the rats are trying to get a seat on the life raft called Obama. There's no great mystery here. Obama equals a paradigm shift in governance. Those in the far Right that see it coming are trying not to look like they've got excrement all over them.

Joe Biden, Colin Powell, and Madeleine Albright are all three "predicting a crisis" if Obama is selected. Of course some of you brainwashed fools will accept whatever the news tells you.

All Neo-Cons should vote for Obama. They believe in a New World Order and Obama is their best hope of that.

I don't have to tell anyone what the term neocon means or how widely it was used in the same sentences with Bush and usually with some very "choice " language. So a "neocon" teaming up with the Democrat party is just wonderful!

Cynthia McKinney is the Green Party candidate. Any coverage of her, ABC?

WHERE IS THE MEDIA ON THIS??? Do we need a president who is forgetful and forgotten by his campaign aides? JOHN MCCAIN was abandoned and forgotten in his campaign bus after his rally in PA. He spent the night in the bus and was rescued the following morning by two passersby. check at www.theonion.com
JOHN MCCAIN's campaign sought contribution from the Russian Ambassador at the UN. Mccain's campaign wrote a letter to Vitaly Churkin asking him to contribute from between 35 - 5000dollars, but Vitaly rejected stating that "russian gov't officials do not support campaigns" this is the tough talk on russia right? the GOP campaign is on fire.

GOP RIP -

Michelle Bachman's now denying that she questioned Obama's patriotism or asked the media to investigate the Congress to identify "anti-American" members. Those of us who saw say these things must have been experiencing some kind of mass hallucination.

It's kind of like Palin being gratified that she'd not been found guilty of ethics violations after she'd been found guilty of ethics violations.

As the Red Queen said in Alice in Wonderland, "I believe at least six impossible things before breakfast."

There seems to be much fear of the gentle lady from Alaska. The Obama lunatic fringe has been worked into a frenzy. The sane among us look at you loonies and wonder what you could possibly be imagining. What is responsible for all this conflicted testimony? Really, you need to read with a modicum of objectivity some of the invective you are hurling at Gov. Palin and see all the inherent contradictions and hypocrisy. The few among you who can make that jump will be astounded.

russell 11:12:38 You are so right. Last month it was the Missouri truth squad. I believe Claire McCaskill instigated this. A reporter from channel 4 broke the story that St. Louis prosecutor Jennifer Joyce and county prosecutor Bob McCullough(spelling?)-both Democrats-had formed a group including other law enforcement officials throughout Missouri to seek out people they thought were spreading lies about Obama. When asked if they would be interested in someone's bumper sticker about Obama the answer was yes. The reporter later "revised" his story to the disbelief of a local radio talk show host who had the clips. This is scary stuff.

Biden basically admitted that Obama is inexperienced and America's enemies are going to test him. Funny ABCNEWS is silent on that.
