New McCain TV Ad Uses Biden's ‘Rhetorical Flourishes’ Against Obama
October 24, 2008 10:06 AM
"Listen to Joe Biden," says the announcer in a new McCain TV ad, "talking about what electing Barack Obama will mean."
"Mark my words," says Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama.
"The world is looking. We're going to have an international crisis ... to test the mettle of this guy. I guarantee you it's gonna happen."
Intones the announcer as the screen fades to black: "It doesn't have to happen. Vote McCain."
Earlier this week, Obama insisted that Biden was just saying the next president would be tested. When it was pointed out that Biden's remarks were Obama-specific, Obama seemed to dismiss his running mate’s "rhetorical flourishes."

Is this a joke? Now McCaine's campaign is claiming that voting for Obama will mean a national incident?

this is how sad & pathetic the mccain campaign is, constantly using flase info without checking the facts;

keredte - Yes, actually I would prefer Palin be tested -because she wouldn't put up with any crap. Obama thinks we can talk to these people.

Typical McCain - he left out the last part of Biden's statement when he said ,"and they'll find out he has a spine of steel." Maybe McCain just didn't stay awake long enough to hear the entire sentence. He's lost it and these ridiculous ads are just the last gasp of a dying campaign. McCain is not an honorable man. No surprise there.

It's funny how people react when you criticize Obama...funny and scary. Scary because when you consider this ongoing effort to shut out any and all opposition, along with his socialist leaning economics policies, it doesn't lend itself to the tenaments that this country was founded on!

I am starting to worry about Biden as much as I am Palin. Talk about McCain being erratic and impulsive, maybe Biden's age is starting to show also or we need more reviewal of his medical records. Maybe it's just his arrogance getting the best of him. A gaffe is one thing and some of Joe's stuff I find kind of amusing but it's continual.
Clinton as Obama's VP candidate is looking much, much more like that would have been the better decision at this point. What was Biden thinking? I know he's best friends with McCain and is he trying to help him out or something? A couple weeks before the electin and he points out that their will be an international crisis intended to test Obama and that the American public won't be happy with the
Obama administration's response but we should stick with him? What the heck does that mean? Maybe it means we should vote McCain. I've come to the conclusion I don't want either Palin or Biden as potentially my President. Poor choices on both Obama and McCain's part. Heaven forbid Obama needs a 3 hour surgery down the road or something because Biden will be another Haig, 3 hours while he's running the show- look out.

Well, if a guy on Larry King said it, then that settles it for me!

In June 2008 Joe Lieberman said on Face the Nation:
"Our enemies will test the new president early" and "Remember that the truck bombing of the World Trade Center happened in the first year of the Clinton administration. 9/11 happened in the first year of the Bush administration."
If anyone thinks that an erratic 72 year-old who irresponsibly selected an unprepared, egotistical small-time governor (who just could possibly end up president) won't get tested early, they're delusional.
I'll take calm, deliberative, gather-the-information from the most knowledgeable sources and then make a rational decision over gambling, erratic, angry, hot-headed behavior any day.
Pass the torch. Obama-Biden for the real country first.

A guy on Larry King just made a damn good point. McCain is 72, getting older by the day, has a number of ailments, if Palin becomes president you can better believe SHE will be tested. Would anyone really rather have that?

Say what you will about George W. Bush, there is one single fact that is indisputable. Since 9/11/2001 we have not been attacked again by any other of the extremist Islamo-facists who murdered our fellow citizens on that tragic day.
And, we would be very wise to heed Joe Biden's words and warnings about the election of his running mate, Senator Obama, and his impending "test" if elected. If our enemies know that Obama is not likely to do anything to retaliate if they attack us, are they really that likely to hold back in doing so?

Section 1076 of the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007 changed the name of the key provision in the statute book from "Insurrection Act" to "Enforcement of the Laws to Restore Public Order Act." The Insurrection Act of 1807 stated that the president could deploy troops within the United States only "to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy." The new law expands the list to include “natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition" -- and such "condition" is not defined or limited. . . . "Martial law" is a euphemism for military dictatorship. When foreign democracies are overthrown and a junta establishes martial law, Americans usually recognize that a fundamental change has occurred. . . . Section 1076 is Enabling Act-type legislation—something that purports to preserve law-and-order while formally empowering the president to rule by decree.
Geo Bush has already empolyed the troops in these manuevers. We would not have thought a coup possible in the US a few years ago.The thought today is because of a economic depression and Obama's forced solcialist gov't. The troops are not loyal to an Obama presidency and when they take control he will be deposed of power and a forced gov't be implemented.

Then a direct comparison can be made with Cindy not paying her property for 4 years and Joe the plumber not paying his taxes. You would have assume that Cindy would have pay her taxes on time when her husband is running for president. Sometime is not right in pro America land.

Jeremy:
"You all beat the drum to get him elected and reelected. He turned out to be the worst president in history. "
Doesn't this remind you of B O??????
Bush equals OBama!

What else is new? McCain & Palin taking Obama's or Biden's words and twisting them around to benefit themselves and to distort the truth so that other people believe their BS? Ohmy, at this point I am no longer surprised. In fact, when they start speaking I just wait for the BS to start because I know it's going to come and there's going to be lots of it foaming out of their mouths.

And please McRage, quit trying to sling this BS about the President being a Democrat and the Congress being primarily Democratic. We can't apologize because the Republicans have shown that they just don't know what they're doing. And first and foremost they don't know how to listen to the American people. So we're not going to apologize nor back down from what people are voting for. If people vote for more Dems then maybe that's a sign, a sign that you're not doing such a great job!! People want a democracy, hence the word Democratic. They want their government to listen to them and to hear them, and to help them in time of need. Republicans have never been very good at this. Maybe they can send you to some classes or something!

McCain's ads just make me want to vomit. Almost all of the bad images that he shows in his ads are terrible things that happened while his good buddy Bush was in office. McCain is just more of the same of that. We need new blood, new direction. At least we know Obama does want to end the war and wants to negotiate diplomacy and peace. McCain wasn't even talking about ending the war until he saw that it was advantageous for him to do so, and this was after Obama was pushing for it. McCain is SICKNING!!!! Reminds me of Nixon, oblivious!! Oblivious and totally out of touch with what's really going on and to what really needs to be done to make things better!!

Yeah, Obama says he is for CHANGE...but at what cost??? Is this a CHANGE for the BETTER, or the WORSE?
If OBAMA is elected get ready to shallow that bitter pill...being taxed to the hilt...let the BIG GOVERNEMENT control every aspect of your life, while living poorer that before.
