Obama Confused by McCain Ad
October 31, 2008 1:13 PM
DES MOINES, IOWA -- Speaking in the state that launched his presidential career, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told Iowans today that he was confused by the new TV ad of his opponent, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that features Obama praising a global warming bill introduced by McCain and Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.
"As if there's something wrong with acknowledging when an opponent has said or done something that makes sense," Obama said. "I think we need more of that attitude in Washington...We need more civility in Washington."
Obama noted that, "I don't disagree with John McCain on everything," and then pivoted to where he does.
"When it comes to the economy, when it comes to the central issue of this election, the plain truth is John McCain has stood with President Bush every step of the way," Obama said.

Obama and Biden were taking a cheap shot at McCain for what he said. It was not untrue - the fundamentals are strong. If you look at our positives, and not just our negatives, you can see that. Here are two articles on it: “No, Really, the Fundamentals of the Economy Are Strong,” NY Times), and “The Economy Really Is Fundamentally Strong,” Time. I’ve heard it reported a number of times that the economy is forecasted to improve in late spring. I’d also be interested to see the media interview economists on whether they think McCain was right or wrong.

I agree. On the Joe the Plumber issue, the Columbus Dispatch has a new article: “State employee says she was ordered to check out Joe the Plumber.” The employee was told the reason for the check was that the man had inquired about his case.

"Obama Confused by McCain Ad"
This is a misleading, even "confusing" headline. It should say, "Obama Says He is Confused by McCain Ad." Is Obama *really* confused by the ad? Of course not.

Obama "When it comes to the economy, when it comes to the central issue of this election, the plain truth is John McCain has stood with President Bush every step of the way," And the change I'll make is I'll stand with Marx.

For those paying attention the last 8 years should have taught us a couple of things: 1) Anyone can become President 2) It hurts the country when both executive and legislative branches are under the control of the same group of jerkoffs. If you value true diversity and want to restrain the ideological excess, patronage, and corruption inherent in any political party, then you want divided government. In this election that means voting McCain--even if you disagree with his policies and find him a less-than-magnetic personality. Those touting Obama as a savior of the nation need to study the history of the "Great Men" of the past who were rushed in to power on a wave of the dreams of the downtrodden and the alienated. Hint: It usually doesn't work out as their supporters had intended.

Obama is the probably the worst candidate to ever run for the Presidency.
His 'redestribute the wealth' has already been tried and failed in many European countries and Obama wants the same for the USA? What a joke.

You people that are finding fault in Barack Obama are making up and slandering Obama like one does when someone with an intelligent mind and ideas makes an entrance...you tend not to lean to that individual but instead go another direction thinking that if you defame their character you'll be safe and they'll be ruined but most times that illogic backfires!

Sorry if this was already covered in an above post, but this goes to the post about John Mcain finishing almost last and not living up to his father and grandfathers stature. This was a man who was aPOW for years. Endured years of torture for our country, you said he was shot down three times. How much courage does that take to keep getting back in that plane and carrying on the fight. You are obviously not somebody that has ever served in the military, or done anyhting for his country. you tout obama who has said nothing but unflattering things about this country as a better hero. Put politics aside and stop saying blatantly ludicrous things. If these are your real views and values America is in real trouble.

I have recently migrated to the USA. What I have seen in this election campaign is petty and childish behavior by senior politicians who behave like hawks. Lipstick on pig, pitbull, hockey mom, sixpack joe, barracuda, JOE- the plumber ( one who is not really a plumber) and nothing of intelligence for the development of America. Has John Public lost his IQ ? IS THIS WHAT THE POLITICIANS THINK?? Politicians treat you according to how they access your intelligence.I want policies and strategies for making the country better. Yet sections of the American population revel in this nonsense. You who are poor, listening to the millionaire politician telling you that the sharing of wealth is evil and socialist, needs your head to be examined. Are you crazy or like to be treated as stupid? Since when is the paying of tax a crime and not a civic responsibility for the betterment of society.Since when the rich should not pay taxes but the poor only? Since when providing for the less fortunate a crime and not Bible teachings. Is this a christian country? Use your better judgement Tuesday.

LFL: This is still America and we still have a right to believe and vote our choice, whether you agree or not, that is what makes america strong, not Obama nor mccain or any other politician or lawyer ormedia person. While we still have freedom of speech, press and the right to vote we will do so. I refuse to be anyones stooge and refuse to let any yellow journalism or politician or anyone control my mind. Our differences are what make us strong, not people being spoon fed. So get over it. Not all of us will be happy but we will know that we made the right choice through our own free will. If that isn't good enough for you than so be it, but, just quit insulting us. Gees people, think for yourself and remember that no one person, or congress can please everyone and they won't even be able to please you all of the time and you are going to vote for him!!!! Joe the plumber has a right to ask any question, any time anywhere. Do you want that right to be taken away from you? Didn't think so!!!!

The Joe Plumber was just a ploy to try trap Obama on public camera. That Joe "liar" is what he is. I mean, look at him eating this "sh.." up. He will not be remembered as a celeberty, but more as a liar.
How can anyone in this day and age with the condition the US is in today not want change? ALSO, how can any true American in his/her right mind want another REP-President or REP-Congress in the White House? We have been SOLD out by these people. This country has been through alot of misshapps and she is now losing much integrity within her own boundaries..."sad". WAKE UP, WE HAVE NEVER HAD A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT IN OFFICE AND DIDN'T GO INTO RECESSION. THINK PEOPLE!!!!!! We are in a mess NOW, if a REP win office, we will go into "Depression" for sure. Think about this, how many American families are actually making more than $250,000/year? Even more sad is the fact that we have not even felt the true impact of what this REP administration has done to the American people..."US".

"Obama Confused by McCain Ad" -- Jake Tapper.

Everyone should be.
Heck, I was confused when John McCain came out and said, "THE FUNDAMENTALS OF OUR ECONOMY ARE STRONG!" and then the investment companies went bankrupt the following day!

Ryan C A senior with a stock porfolio containing 10,000 shares of Chevron with a dividend of .65 gives them an Income of 26,000 a year. Then throw in 5,000 shares of First Energy with. 56 dividend gives them income of 11,200. And lets throw in 3,000 Enterprise products at .60 cents a dividend and there is $7,200. a year. Total income $44,400. haven't even hit $50,000.yet. Now lets add up thise stocks at todays value approx. $1,135,000.00. And Obama doesn't want to tax them. Ok, tell me again how he is for the middle class and not the wealthy. And before you start claiming this isn't wealthy you may be right, but lets not forget these seniors homes are probably paid for, kids are grown and they don't have to many expenses life looks pretty good. Especially if you are one of those 62 year old seniors who doesn't live beyond your means and just wants to play some golf sit back and enjoy. Guess what I say good for them but don't try and tell me Obama didn't buy the senior vote. Oh did I mention they all moved to Florida because there is no state income tax?

"He has actually honestly stated he thinks their are plenty of wealthy like him who can afford to pay a little more out of pocket."
So he thinks seniors all have wives that are heiresses? He's loonier than I thought. Are you really stating that McCain thinks senior should be paying MORE?
"Unlike Obamas false chantings of being the candidate for middle class."
Most of Obama's programs are directed at the middle class but they are by no means the only group that Obama thinks needs attention first.
"McCain is actually the one who does get it that the middle class are always left carrying the burden"
So he makes the largest tax cuts for millionaires. Interesting logic.
The lesson for the day? Right wingers are going to LOSE Tuesday and LOSE BIG!

Ryan c McCain has not proposed a tax plan for seniors like this .He has actually honestly stated he thinks their are plenty of wealthy like him who can afford to pay a little more out of pocket. Unlike Obamas false chantings of being the candidate for middle class. McCain is actually the one who does get it that the middle class are always left carrying the burden

"you have no business talking about how seniors will be affected under Mccains plan you are confused like Obama"
Obama plans to eliminate income tax for seniors making less than $50K.
McCain plans to find a trillion dollars in waste and fraud in Medicare. When Republicans say that what they really intend to cut are benefits.
But maybe you can tell me more of McCain's plans for seniors since his website did not have any clear info on it.

"wealthy seniors making $50,000. a year which if their income comes from dividends this means they have a multimillion stock portfolio and he proposes they won't even have to file taxes."
A senior making $50K a year is by no means wealthy even if doing so based on investments.
I think seniors will like that Obama recognizes their hard work and sacrifice for this nation.
They won't like McCain cutting Medicare to the bone.
