Obama-Loving Haters Flourishing As Well

October 22, 2008 1:32 PM

Despite most media coverage, the invective and nastiness is -- needless to say -- not just on the Right.

We've written about anti-McCain arson and anti-Palin vileness before, but check out the letters written to the Los Angeles Times after Reason's Matt Welch -- no fan of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. -- defended McCain from the ludicrous charge he's a traitor.

Welch writes that "nothing really prepared me for the volume and tenor of outrage when I dared suggest in a family newspaper that published reports disputing McCain's POW heroism were, in my judgment, incorrect."

People are really becoming unhinged out there.

Obama's comments about trying to change the 2nd amendment in his speech a while back made me terrified to have anyone like that in the government. If we change one amendment what's next...the 1st....the 4th???? we need less government and less Democrats like Barbara Boxer and anyone who supports socialistic change affecting our rights as free citizens

What? You mean the party of peace & tolerance has haters & racists? I am shocked, shocked that there is fear & loathing among the followers of the "anointed one." I thought he was going to lay hands on all of us & restore peace & tranquility. I am disappointed.

Cities will burn to the ground if Obama loses.

That's all you need to know about Obama supporters.

The only thing surprising here is that this is the first time Jake has seen reason to comment on this topic. The hate-filled, "unity" loving Obots are nothing new -- they have been spewing their poison for anyone who dares question "The One" for almost two years now. No criticism of Obama is legitimate, and anyone who questions him is a racist -- get used to it -- this is the change you've all been waiting for.

Jake, this sort of thing has been happening on the left for two years as they Shredded HRC. Where have you been?
The hate, false claims of racism, the very real sexism on the left and in the media (Olberman should be fired and Tweety too)along with the stolen caucus votes and intimidation that happened in TX and elsewhere are the reason many liberal women and men are NOT voting Obama. We do not want to reward the behavior of the DNC (particularly Donna B.), the opportunistic Super delegates, the corporate (Liberal? LOL)elite media and mostly Obama campaign with a win in November. That would only entrench their skanky behavior and make it acceptable practice.

WOW! I get it!! My comment stayed up for 3 Minutes. I said if Obama wins the Republicans will be dissappointed. If McCain wins the cities will burn!! It's true! Hide your McCain/ Palin signs because you will become a target. Voice your vote in the booth. They can't follow you there....YET!! Bet this doesn't even get posted. So much for free speech!

There's a reason I was taught at an early age not to talk about religion, politics and what I earn amongst friends...it always leads to hurt feelings.

Jake, your forum here is also filled with some pretty vile stuff, so this does not come as a surprise. The class warfare has been going on for a while. Often people think it was Nixon who started it, but it has been going on for a long, long time.

The difference today is that the left are doing it out of anger and frustration and the right does it for politics to advance their agenda. That's the way I see it.

I agree Bud, I didn't want us in Iraq...and I was angry.

I for myself had to find something, to make it all worthwhile. One shred, of goodness that came out of it.

I read a story about one of Saddams sons. He had a girlfriend, and decided he was done with her, and moved on. Of course as happens in relationships, anger, bitterness, scorn. She scorned him to her friends. Word of this scorn got back to the son.

He had some men pick her up, and bring her to him. Where he commenced to beat her to death. While beating her, he raped her with a live electric cable.

After reading that, and knowing that these men could no longer hurt a woman, child, even another man in this fashion....brought some reconciliation for me.

After I read that, and having had nephews and nieces over there...and to hear their perspective, which was entirely different then what I was hearing on the news....and then a friend losing her son....and to this day she's proud of him. Not angry...well that's helped me thru.

There is also a compelling story I read about a man who was picked to be one of the sons doubles, in case of assassination. He had to give up his family, and life. Not by his will, but by theirs.

He now lives in Ireland, I believe. Freely.

When Rwanda happened, NATO was powerless...and the people asked..were were we? Not just the U.S. but the world. I know we can't save the world, but to see a person walk down the street, and the possibility of a free, democratic nation for this nation...perhaps one day, this will spread, and freedom can be known everywhere?

I don't know. That's how I reconciled myself. I won't say it was right for us to go in, but the outcome is good. To me

No hard feelings. I'm really not trying to cause you any hurt.

Free choice act, which Obama is for....

"The Employee Free Choice Act would strip American workers of their right to a private-ballot vote, require companies to submit to binding arbitration, and increase penalties for unfair labor practices committed by employers but not by unions. Each of these provisions would be bad for American workers."

I am not against unions, as they do provide a good service to employees, but exposing employees names when trying to unionize isn't right, in my opinion. Secret ballot only.

However, passing this won't ensure better pay. This won't force Walmarts hand per say. They will close up, and move operations to a town a few miles away, who would welcome the business revenue.

If people wonder why there is anger in this country, maybe it is because:

-more than 4,000 of our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters have been killed in an unnecessary war;

-$1 trillion was spent on that unnecessary war;

-All that we were told about going into that unnecessary war was proved to be untrue;

-America has lost all credibility and moral suasion in the world because of that unnecessary war;

-Our global diplomacy is shattered;

-America has lost its legitimacy to criticize other countries about Human Rights, because we set up an extra-judicial camp and have practiced what John McCain has described as "torture";

-The policies of our current president, in pursuing that unnecessary war, has put every American at greater risk of injury and death when they travel abroad;

-Our national debt was allowed to double to nearly $10 trillion (under 8 years of GWB and 6 under a GOP Congress);

-Our president pursued a divisive strategy to call anyone who opposed or questioned his policies "un-American";

-Instead of putting competent people in charge of government, only the politically loyal were employed, resulting in:

-Our troops going into battle without proper body armour, and without the necessary numbers of troops;
-Those responsible for all those mistakes in the Pentagon never being held accountable;
-Katrina;
-Letting Enron, et. al. bankrupt utilities and overcharge utilitiy customers;

-etc, etc, etc

-And now, after pursuing continued deregulation, allowing America's financial industry to implode, resulting in:

the addition of more than $1 trillion to the nation's debt obligations;

the devaluing of our currency;

and the weakening of the entire global economy;

---

And to top it all off, someone decided it was important to spend millions of dollars of presidential campaign advertisements to talk about:

William Ayers, Brittany Spears, and Paris Hilton?

So, please excuse me if I don't win Miss Congeniality on this forum....

And Colin Powell is praised by Obama supporters. Biden is praised by Obama supporters. But Hillary , you must know by now is evil. Why? Because she voted to give Bush the power to defend America and Iraq from Hussein. Which she learned about from the pack of lies sold to her by Powell and Biden. Yea, she is evil according to Obama supporters and the media. You gave us Bush. You sold us the Iraq War. Now that you are selling Obama, I'm not buying this time Jake my boy.

Posted by: glennmcgahee | Oct 22, 2008 6:18:06 PM

Okay, Jeannie,

So, I'm a hater.

And Obama, "according to your opinion":

is a socialist whose greatest influence comes from:

anarchists, communists, and terrorist sympathizers

and he's going to exercise:

"control over our internet activity"

and bring us carbon taxes

and is obviously against union people

Did I get all that down correctly?

I'll be sure to write all that down so I can post it into every thread on this board.

Apparently many millions of Americans disagree with your assessment of Obama. Isn't democracy great?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or perhaps, the fear of being labeled a racist, stupid, idiot, moron, hate monger, war monger, or any other putrid names you can call out to those who ascribe to a different belief, are afraid to speak out.
Perhaps they too number, in the millions.
I'll change my deleted answer to a question...Mike 4:41:56 Do you realize what you are saying(playing)?
Posted by: RL in Illinois | Oct 22, 2008 5:24:58 PM
You know, Bud.
I meant no animosity in my post, and if it came across that way...my apologies.
I do however, find it beyond coincidence, that when someone voices their opinion, and says it's only in their personal beliefs, and opinions, they are attacked, with words like stupid, idiotic, babbling.
Yes. I took offense at that, as I simply voiced my opinion, for me, and me alone...and afforded you the respect to choose whom you want to vote for.
That was no reciprocated, and rarely is it reciprocated...which boils down to this.
The very hate, and vitriole you espouse to be coming from the Conservatives, is being spewed here daily, by Liberals.
Thank you for affording me the respect I afforded you, and I will leave you with this.....I respect your opinions, but not your hatred.
"Obama has brought out the worst in people."
Yes, I suppose it is the black guy's fault that if both candidates were white we wouldn't be hearing the worst in people come out.
A typical sample of the comments that Welch thinks are "outrage":
"From thousands of feet in the air, McCain was dropping bombs and nepalm on human beings who never attacked us. That was cowardly and violent promotion of imperialism, not heroism."
While I wouldn't call it cowardly (the thousands of anti-war GI's who DID protest faced very dire consequences, but their courage doesn't make all the others who blindly followed illegal orders into 'cowards'), this commenter is pointing out that people who are making a hero out of McCain are arguing that the Vietnam was not an illegal war of aggression.
I think it is more of a criticism of Welch than McCain.
