Obama-Loving Haters Flourishing As Well

October 22, 2008 1:32 PM

Despite most media coverage, the invective and nastiness is -- needless to say -- not just on the Right.

We've written about anti-McCain arson and anti-Palin vileness before, but check out the letters written to the Los Angeles Times after Reason's Matt Welch -- no fan of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. -- defended McCain from the ludicrous charge he's a traitor.

Welch writes that "nothing really prepared me for the volume and tenor of outrage when I dared suggest in a family newspaper that published reports disputing McCain's POW heroism were, in my judgment, incorrect."

People are really becoming unhinged out there.

Obama people, aided by the media, did the same thing to Hillary Clinton. Obama's campaign on "Change" is the biggest farce of all. I vowed never to vote for him after that horse broke down and his supporters posted comments hoping the same would happen to Clinton-all because she bet on it. Obama has brought out the worst in people. This is and has always been his style of politics and anyone who has followed his career knows it. From Alice Palmer to John McCain and everyone in between, Obama and his handlers will stop at nothing.

Welch attacked the Rolling Stone piece:

Tom Dickenson wrote in Rolling Stone: "Like many American POWs, McCain broke down under torture and offered a 'confession' to his North Vietnamese captors."

Matt Welch offered this slam-dunk rebuttal: "The harsh truth is that the overwhelming majority of POWs, including McCain, 'broke' under torture at some point."

Wow! Welch really shut those haters up, didn't he?

Bud, I respect your right to choose whom you want to vote for...

But I personally would trust national security to a man that has actual experience in the field, and in government.

I can't rely on Obama, as I don't trust him. He's spent to much time, and I personally have no doubts, taken influence from self confessed anarchists, terrorist sympathizers, and members of the communist party.

For me, those are the antithesis of what America is...and I can't get behind a man, that has to this point, has not been completely upfront and honest. Yes, he answered to questions on Ayres, but then new info comes up every day.

For weeks 2 campaign workers denied, that Obama wrote a blurb for Ayres book. Well it took a blogger to go to the library, and do the research. There on microfilm, from a newpaper, was the blurb, written by Obama, on Ayres book.

Soon after this was brought to light, a video, of these 2 Obama workers saying it was untrue...disappeared. Just to many questions, and not enough answers.

I don't think McCain is perfect. Not by any means. But when it comes down to it, in my humble opinion, he is the better choice....for me.

I agree. I don't like socialism, and by definition, redistrubtion of wealth, is socialism. I don't want my country headed down that road.

Should Obama become our President, I won't have a choice, but to accept it...but with him wanting control over union voting, and full transparency of which employee is voting for , or against union...carbon taxes, and control over our internet activity...that's to much for me.

Not to mention Barney Franks saying more taxes!

Whoever,

In which direction does sun rise in your world? Or does it? McCain has a declared strategy to attack Obama's character. And in my state North Carolina he is distributing anti-Obama literature that makes no mention of McCain. So, is that a positive message he is presenting? The trouble with some Republicans is they can't tell the difference between attacking a man's and positions and attacking a man's character.

You bet I am afraid of a McCain win, my life is literally at stake. I already being on SSI with a Medicare HMO can not affor all the drugs my doctor wants me on eg Crestor.
If they win I am going to have to leave the USA to find medical care in Canada or Mexico. This is no joke.

Canadians are being declined health care and are having to cross the border into the U.S. to get treatment. If you are an older American and battling cancer for the third time, for example, they can say you have reached your limit. This is happening in the UK, and the health care there is rationed by the government, over 1/2 of cancer patients cannot get care, they suffer from shortage of staff, and rising tide of patient complaints. Their government suppresses information to curtail the demand for choice. Keep in mind that their population is 60,000,000 compared to ours 301,000,000 and they are having a hard time paying for it. They have cut all other funding to pay for it. Their Welfare is provided by independent and voluntary charity organizations.

Bud,

Very well said. McCain could have changed the tone of this campaign any time he wanted to. He didn't want to.

Posted by: indy_voter | Oct 22, 2008 4:03:49 PM

How can a rational thinking person say that McCain and Palin have started the
anger and hate in this campaign. The dems have played "dirty pool" by denying anything that is released to us even when the evidence is stareing all of us in the face. Any evidence proving wrongdoing from obana is covered up like a cat with diarrhea. Anything said by the repubs, they come back with something negative about them. Does this sound like fair? Any remarks made to appear hateful and mean were probably coming from the left to incite an uprising from the media, just to make sure we don't forget to vote for obana...Well I am much smarter then the media. I don't want socialism!!!!

it appears that Obama and Ayers worked out of the same office building in Chicago for about three years during the late 90s, early 00s.

Posted by: SandyB | Oct 22, 2008 3:32:11 PM

OH NO, are you serious.....the same building. What is this world coming to.

I gave McCain's 2000 campaign several hundred dollars, had a McCain sign in my car and window for months, and even was recruited to be on his delegate list for the convention (he lost my state).

But 8 years later it's become pretty evident to me that John McCain is one of the biggest phonies around. The guy touts himself as being so great and moral, when his actions of the past 30 years show him to be singularly self-serving.

I can understand why so many people questioned his character and temperment in the 2000 campaign. The man is clearly unstable. Is it any wonder that so many of those Republicans who are most concerned about national security have abandoned McCain?

He has come to represent all that is wrong with the Republican party. And after the campaign that McCain has run and his angry comments and inconsistent actions, I have lost all respect for the man. His campaign has done great damage to this country.

The only thing that John McCain puts first is John McCain.

From a radio interview in 2002, in California.

BILL AYERS: I considered myself partly an anarchist then. I consider myself partly an anarchist now. I mean, I'm as much an anarchist as I am a Marxist, which is to say, you know, I find a lot of the ideas in anarchism appealing. We create felons by having these kind of archaic, puritan drug laws that make no sense whatsoever in any logical way. So in that sense, I still feel like kind of an anarchist. I don't feel like the rules apply. And if they don't apply, I don't feel like you should follow them. Is one of those regrets that I took extreme measures against the United States at a time of tremendous crisis? No, it is not. I don't regret that. There is a struggle over various religious fundamentalisms, Jihad being the most visible. But the religious fundamentalism of the Christians and the Jews is equally troubling.

Really? How many unborn babies died in the great flood? How many post-birth abortions during passover?

By Gods hand can be compared to mans hand?

jeanie,

"I have a hard time believing God would send someone who advocates abortion"

Really? How many unborn babies died in the great flood? How many post-birth abortions during passover?

Don't be afraid of McCain. Socialized medicine is not what we want. It takes months to see doctors and if you are a certain age they will just let you die. Put a pencil to the amount of money it costs for your HMO, most do not cost $5,000. per year. Mine doesn't and I am in the same boat with you. Try Walmart for your prescriptions some cost as little as $4. Crestor has a generic: Rosuvastatin, it will be cheaper. Or, maybe your doctor will give you a prescription for a cheaper drug. Socialism hasn't worked in other countries and it won't work in the US of A.

For all of Obama's claims to Ayers being "just a guy in my neighborhood," it appears that Obama and Ayers worked out of the same office building in Chicago for about three years during the late 90s, early 00s.

Vandals defaced the garage at Sen. Norm Coleman’s home, his campaign and police said Wednesday.
Coleman and his wife, Laurie, live in the Crocus Hill neighborhood of St. Paul. Graffiti left on the outside of their garage reads: “U R A criminal resign or else”; “Scum,” which is written three times; and “Psalm 2.” …
Laurie Coleman, the senator’s wife, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that the family’s garage has been marked at least once before, but the latest incident was worse.
“This is just threatening,” she said.

Yes, voters are getting mean and angry. John McCain and Sarah Palin and Republican Party have caused it all.

Ummm nope. Obama started throwing race into this, years ago, and I for one, and I'm sure I'm one of many, that are sick and tired of being called racist because we don't bow to Obama.

I don't agree with Obama's ideologies. It's as simple as that. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin. I don't agree with any hate being spewed from either side, but it's coming from both sides. Not just one.

This is part 2. Last night Jake had a blog up espousing the hate coming from the right.

I do agree with it. It's not one sided, it's coming from both sides.

It was Bob Marley who sang in one his musicals albums that "who Jah bless,no one curses".Obama has been ordained by God to be the nxt USA president,so no amount of hate mail can prevent him from not presiding 4rm the white house come jan 2009.

The Bible says...Beware of false Prophets.

I have a hard time believing God would send someone who advocates abortion, and non care to infants born alive from botched abortions.

Was Matt Welch with McCain in Vietnam? No, so he has no business standing up for him. I read the Rolling Stone article, and bravo to the author for questioning the standard "McCain is a war hero" rhetoric. Also, the article never called McCain a traitor. The article pointed out that POWs did not accept early release because that would also mean they would have to publically denounce the US government and face court martial. So OF COURSE POWs didn't accept. McCain was no war hero.

Yes, voters are getting mean and angry. John McCain and Sarah Palin and Republican Party have caused it all. They have publicly endorsed in their rallies rallies hate mongering, terrorist, socialist, kill him. John McCain has employed same people who conducted same smears against him to help him now in this campaign. The robocalls are quite nasty. Actually defaming and scary.

Competition is good. But Republicans are dividing the nation.

Are riots next??? Is an assassination next?? What will happen John McCain??? Will they indict John McCain and Sarah Palin for this criminal conduct??? Their part playing to crowd psychological enticement to riot, killing??? Why are these action criminalized??

"btw...when Lynn Swann was running against Rendell, those same people Murtha claimed to be racist, and rednecks, voted for Swann"

Wow Lynn Swann doing well in the Pittsburgh area...whodathunkit!
