Obama to Pre-emptively Attack McCain
October 05, 2008 7:40 AM
With the news that the McCain campaign is launching a full assault on Obama's associates, preparedness, and judgment in a TV ad campaign to start Wednesday -- as detailed in this morning's Washington Post -- the Obama campaign is planning a pre-emptive assault on the TV airwaves to start Monday.
Gov. Sarah Palin got the ball rolling this morning, going after Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for his association with Professor William Ayers, a former member of the radical group the Weather Underground, saying Obama "is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect, imperfect enough that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."
The McCain campaign said that its new TV ads would focus on Obama's associations with Ayers and real estate developer Tony Rezko, recently convicted on corruption charges.
"We are looking for a very aggressive last 30 days," McCain adviser Greg Strimple told the Post. "We are looking forward to turning a page on this financial crisis and getting back to discussing Mr. Obama's aggressively liberal record and how he will be too risky for Americans."
The Obama campaign plans on taking Strimple's expressed desire to "turn...a page on this financial crisis" against McCain, to characterize all attacks on Obama as desperation to change the subject.
As first reported by Politico's Mike Allen Saturday evening, Obama has a new TV ad, too, that says: "Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year. Our financial system in turmoil. And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy. No wonder his campaign wants to change the subject. 'Turn the page on the financial crisis' by launching dishonorable, dishonest ‘assaults’ against Barack Obama. Struggling families can't turn the page on this economy, and we can't afford another president who is this out of touch."

Fact: Obama was born in Kenya not the US. Even his half sister said it in a Feb 18, 2008 article for the Star Bulletin...she said Barack was born in Kenya.
Fact: It was Jimmy Carter that created the CRA...Clinton that enhanced upon it. Obabma that worked with ACORN to pressure banks and the senate to lower the standards so poor people with no credit or income could get housing.
Fact: John McCain in 2005 tried to get a bill passed to impose stronger regulation on Fannie Mae and Freddie MAc and the house struck it down.
Fact: Our current Dem congress has the lowest approval rating ever. Do we want a Dem congress and a Dem president. God Help Us All!!!
Read and get the facts....don't listen to the candidates or the press...read about these people, do some research. This is too serious to make your decison based on the hollywood theatrics that are being thrown at us. Don't be so lazy!!!!! Research Research. You will be amazed what you will find.
FACT: Obama is a devil in sheeps clothing. That you can count on.

Obama is a liar, a tax monger and probably a criminal.

McCain no longer has any control. The campaign is being run by the same guys who ran the Bush administration. They are using Palin as a puppet. Obama should be careful not to stoop too low while attacking just enough and pointing out the fact that Palin/McCain administration is Bush administration in a new bottle.
Posted by: jonathanw | Oct 6, 2008 6:24:58 PM
McCain can win on policies and taxes. The problem is that the Obama campaign is benefitting from the financial crisis merely because Bush is in the WH and Obama is very successful at blaming everything on him. The other problem is that the media bias is so pro-Obama it is difficult for McCain to get through to most Americans. I don't think McCain has much choice but to "sensationalize" Obama in order to get some traction. I'm surprised Obama hasn't said he is going to make another one of his "major" speeches so all the news media will give him free air time at the same moment. That usually works for Obama.

You haven't seen anything yet. Wait till the Dems start crying "Racism" for the attacks on Obama.

I am hoping Obama will not stoop to McCain's level of lies.
Posted by: mypeaches | Oct 6, 2008 5:46:24 PM
It isn't just Ayers - there is a history of radical associations. McCain needs to make the connection in very simplistic terms so Americans can get it.

McCain Fraud in Keatin-5 and Palin with husband on the run from the law! None of them know anything about financial matters so not surprisingly they use SCARE TACTICS & LIES! One could say it's their TRADEMARK(TM). It shows how they intend to run the Country should they (God forbid) get elected.

Claudia - The Senate Ethics Committee lawyer who investigated McCain already had explained that scandal away -- repeatedly. It was celebrated lawyer Robert Bennett, most famous for defending a certain horny hick president a few years ago.
In February this year" Bennett said, for the eight billionth time:
"First, I should tell [you] I'm a registered Democrat, so I'm not on (McCain's) side of a lot of issues. But I investigated John McCain for a year and a half, at least, when I was special counsel to the Senate Ethics Committee in the Keating Five. ... And if there is one thing I am absolutely confident of, it is John McCain is an honest man. I recommended to the Senate Ethics Committee that he be cut out of the case, that there was no evidence against him."
But of course that won't matter to you and I apologize for confusing the issue with facts.

Sorry 'bout that.

Okay - everyone on BOTH SIDES - please listen:
This is no time to bring up this mudslinging for McCain (e.g. Keating 5, etc), or for Obama (e.g. Ayers).
By being so decisive, you're BOTH embarrassing yourselves - and in our country's time of need. (That's you on the Left AND you on the Right).
This is a time to encourage BOTH candidates to talk about the issues facing our country, what they can do about these issues, and a meaningful discussion about why the opponent's plans are wrong.
THAT'S what needs to be debated - not some questionable thing that happened 20, 30, or 40 years ago - on EITHER side. BOTH candidates have some pretty ugly skeletons in their closets - most people do. Try to play "who's skeleton is scariest", and we ALL loose.
Both men have shown themselves to care about our country.

John McCain, who took money from Charles Keating shouldn't let his running mate throw stones.

Personal character assaults just doesn't cut it anymore. We want solutions to the economic crisis and Obama seems to be the only one offering.

The Dow Jones just went below 10,000. All the world markets are crashing, and McCain is offering the Bush economic plan to the American people. He has his "brilliant" running mate Sarah Palin recite her vicious attacks. If anybody knows how to read an article, you should read ahead the New York Times article on Obama and Ayers. They clearly do not have a relationship. Please do not rely on Sarah Palin to educate yourself politically. Sarah Palin was a journalism major that doesn’t read newspapers or magazines.
Posted by: twosunshine | Oct 6, 2008 12:27:45 PM
McCain-Palin is the ticket to the future.
Sarah Palin can help the country smooth out its slide down the toilet and into the sewers by calming everyone with Bible readings.
At the same time, McCain can encourage the populous by starting a war with Iran and lowering the financing cost of Harleys so everyone can rejoice in the sounds of freedom.
McCain-Palin give the American People an opportunity to demonstrate the unique strength of their critical thinking abilities and overall intelligence by once again electing to office a team as brilliant and as enlightened as Bush-Cheney.

Bill Ayers is still a radical. He preaches the same 1960's radical anti-America, anti-capitalism dogma from his position as a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. And Chicago Mayor Daley employed him as a teachers trainer for the public schools in Chicago. He indoctrinates the teachers who are in turn expected to influence their students with Ayer's radical views.

Whats all of this fuss about Obama wanting to talk to the leaders of countries that refuse to do what we want them to do. If our leaders are to stupid to talk to the leaders of Iran, Cuba, etc, you can be assured that the leaders of Russia will gladly talk to the leaders of these countrys. When Russia arm these countrys with Nuclear bombs, Americans are gonna wish that we had talked to the people. Russia is allready giving missiles to Hugo Chavez, I predict that it wont be much longer before Russia place neclear weapons in Cuba again. Dont talk America but dont complain when the Russians do.

The reason this discussion has not been followed up on by the media is because it is a non-subject. This Ayers person was a "suspected" terrorist in the 60's. He was never convicted because of FBI misconduct, for all we know he is/was innocent. The only reason Obama knows him is because the worked together on fundraising years after this incident in the 60's which Obama did not know about. By that time Obama only knew him as a respected college professor. Obama was not and is not his friend. Thats like someone saying each of us should be held accountable for the private lives of our co-workers. GIVE ME A BREAK!

Great strategy by the McCain camp to energize Obama's larger base against his smaller base. Plus I am sure Independents will be impressed with a man who looks like an old pathetic back stabbing, bitter and desperate loser. To have your unqualified running mate basically call a fellow United State Senator a terrorist is crossing the line.

Kristne,
The media obviously has done a pretty good job checking out Obama for 19 months, hence the Ayers, Wright, Rezno stories, smears and lies that the Republican Party is apparently going to base their last desperate attempt at winning this election on. The problem you see, is that there just isn't much there. The Republicans never say anything new about those associations...just that they're associations. If you really want to know all about Obama, then go to factcheck.org. They've gone over ALL the accusations, lies, truths, half-truths, and smears with a fine tooth comb. But like most Republicans, I suspect you don't have much use for the truth if it doesn't coincide with your vision of what the truth is. As for Hillary, I'll say just this...she's got a closet full of skeletons all her own. So if you think this general elction would have been a cake walk for her guess again. The Republicans would have pulled out every one, and where they couldn't find one, they would have made one up.

"change the FACTS about Obama's Criminal background and Lies!"
There is no criminal background, not one criminal conviction or investigation based on HIS actions. Criminal investigations of his associations that involved him as a witness, yes, criminal investigation with his own actions? NO
McCain however, with his Keating 5 scandal and Palin with her troopergate investigation, that is a criminal background.
Posted by: Vahagn Mkhikian | Oct 5, 2008 11:36:52 PM
Oh Im not done.
McCain also cheated on his first wife who was recovering from a car accident. McCain also was involved with Gordon Liddy a terrorist, McCain also said he is unclear whether or not the prime minister of spain is an ally to us, McCain also got into a fistfight with another senator, McCain also voted against funding the troops 3 times last year because it included a time table, McCain also voted to raise taxes 477 times while in Congress, McCain also wanted to privatize social security 3 years ago, that would have led to a near complete collapse of it through this stock market crisis, McCain's tax plan will save his wife an estimated 762,000 a year while providing only a 19 dollar tax cut to those making under 20K a month, McCain also NEVER MENTIONED EXCESSIVE CEO GREED in any stump speech prior to the market crash on Sep 15th, McCain also blocked the Veterans Committee from investigating into the POW files in Vietnam (because he was hiding being known as "songbird mccain" for telling the Vietnamese our secrets), McCain also spearheaded a tactic to try to disenfranchise 250,000 Michigan voters if they were foreclosed upon, McCain also lied about Obama's education, tax, association record, McCain also complains about our largest national debt in history but voted with 80% of President Bush's budget and spending bills
McCain is a horrible man. Obama knows horrible men, take your pick.

It is really sad and telling that Liberal Obama supporters have viciously attack Palin, McCain and their supporters for months in the media-
But now that Obama's Radical past is coming into focus by the mainstream media - Mentors/Friends/Associates and ACORN Community Organizer tactics Liberals cry fowl! Well too bad! It has been a long time coming!
Ayers- Unrepentant Anti-government bomber
Rezco- Chicago Convicted Money Launder and the one Obama did a shaddy deal with to buy his house and land! Obama gave him thousands in state money!
Frank Marshall Davis- Marxist,Communist Mentor of Obama who Obama talks about in his book!
Alinsky- he is dead, however Obama studied his Marxist Socialist "Rules for Radicals" tactics and worked for ACORN in Chicago!
Jeremiah Wright- Racist pastor/mentor for 20 years
I could keep going and add all the muslim friends Obama has! I could see if it was just 1 shaddy friend but there are SO MANY!!!
Obama could NOT even get an FBI clearence with anyone of these associates!
So you can insult McCain and Palin all you want, but it won't change the FACTS about Obama's Criminal background and Lies!
Posted by: Arlan | Oct 5, 2008 11:08:15 PM
Every Republican here is right. Obama's associations should be followed and reviewed...keep beatin at a dead horse guys.
The fact is Ayers is a professor and met Obama as a university professor and doing charity contributions. that's a damn good thing i would say.
Rezko is a convicted felon but every single investigation has proved other than buy a house together, they had nothing to do with each other.
Sounds to me that Obama knew bad guys, he worked with them to get some good stuff accomplished and that's it. You Republicans are foaming at the mouth angry that Obama has no personal scandals. He has friends who have committed scandals but no personal scandals. And as for Reverend Wright and his racism. Give me a break. McCain is a 72 year old white man. If you think McCain has no racist friends you're an idiot. That doesn't make him racist...well he is racist, but it's not cuz of his friends.
Let's now analyze the Republican ticket.
Palin - Wants to break the constitution and change the powers of the vice-presidency, used taxpayer money to help pay her mortgage, hired friends and high school basketball teamates for government positions. Is involved in a blatant breach of power but won't cooperate with the investigation. (A Vice presidential nominee who thinks he doesn't have to cooperate with investigations...seem familiar)?
McCain - The last time we had a huge banking failure, John McCain was involved in a huge scandal (Keating 5). He called Bush's tax cuts "Immoral and downright thievery" and now he supports them to cave into the conservative backers. He got a COMPLETELY unqualified retard who he didn't know and only met once as a VP for pure political reasons. He wrote in a book "I wanted to become president because it had become my ambition to become president. I was 62 at the time and felt it was my last shot at the prize"...Any man who views the presidency as a prize doesn't deserve consideration. Two of his "spiritual and moral leaders" are Chuck Hagee and Rob Parsley. Hagee believes that Catholicism is the great whore religion. He is against the constitution because it allows the right to assembly and believes that God Sends Hurricanes like Katrina to claim thousands of innocent lives and cause trillions in property damage because "America was going to allow a homosexual parade". Pastor Rob Parsley believes it is America's duty and quest to destroy Islam and every able bodied American should fulfill our quest by joining the military and destroying Islam
Barack Obama knows corrupt people. John McCain and Sarah Palin ARE corrupt people
That's your difference.
Posted by: Vahagn Mkhikian | Oct 5, 2008 11:07:15 PM
If the media spent half as much time checking out Obama as they have Palin, then Hillary would be our nominee.
Bill knows that. Hillary knows that and so do most of her supporters, like me. That is why we will vote for McCain.
Posted by: Kristne | Oct 5, 2008 10:33:33 PM
GIVE ME A BREAK! Americans have listen to the Liberal Media trash Sarah Palin for 5 weeks now and try to dig up anything they can on her- even attacking her children!
It's time Americans were given the TRUTH about Obama's Criminal Associates/Friends/Mentors! I'm from Chicago and I can tell you all the radical illegal ACORN tactics Obama used as the "Community Organizer right here in my city! Please research Obama before you vote!
Start with the Breaking News FBI files on "Frank" Marshall Davis - who Obama calls his mentor in his book Dreams of my Father! He has admitted this guy "Frank is this Man!
I can't believe McCain has not brought this up weeks and months before! I can't believe a Radical like Obama has come this close to the White house!

Sceptical Republican
"There's no doubt Obama has given many inspiring speeches and has a charming and charismatic personality. But Americans should consider his actions, not just his lofty words. They don't add up."
His actions are honorable, they met each other when he was working in some education commission.
The fact they worked together don't imply that Obama supported his radical idea's in the past.
Posted by: CLabs | Oct 5, 2008 9:59:09 PM
John,
"Watch the SNL Bush/Pelosi/Frank skit while you're watching Burning Down the House too please."
Watched the Burning Down the House, also watched some video that debunked the same message.
The video can be debunked by one simple fact, the trading with mortage packs between banks stared after 2000. It was something new, it didn't happened before.
It was made possible because deregulation and all the banks started to behave like investment banks.
The fact that most of the congress (republicans and democrats) where in the pocket of these financial banks didn't helped a lot.
McCain is no saint, he supported the deregulation that unleashed the wolves.
Posted by: CLabs | Oct 5, 2008 9:44:39 PM
Why is it that Obama's relationships with a convicted felon, a terrorist, and a rabid preacher is off the table for analysis and discussion? The main stream media has spent days and weeks dumpster diving in Wasilla, Alaska, to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin. But Obama gets a free pass on Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko and Reverend Wright.
Let's take Ayers. He was a member of Weather Underground, a domestic terrorist organization that planned attacks on the Pentagon and the Capitol, set off bombs and killed a policeman in San Francisco. Ayers has never apologized for this and in fact said he "didn't do enough".
All this happened while Barack Obama was a child. So there's his defense: "What that man did Barack Obama has condemned. And by the way, he did it when Barack Obama was 8 years old. Come on," Democratic senator McCaskill said.
But consider this: While Obama was a child during the bombings, he was certainly a grown up when he held his first political fund raiser -- in Ayer's private home! What kind of judgment does this show? And where's the "condemnation" McCaskill refers to? Are we supposed to believe that Obama first used Ayers to raise money, then later condemned him?
There is a long chain of bad judgment calls in Obama's political life. He bought his house in a shady real estate deal from a man who was later convicted for fraud and is now in prison. His pastor for 20 years calls for God to "damn America" and claims that white people intentionally inflicted AIDS on blacks. His first fund raiser was held in the house of a terrorist, and he served on the board of an organization founded by this terrorist for years afterwards.
There's no doubt Obama has given many inspiring speeches and has a charming and charismatic personality. But Americans should consider his actions, not just his lofty words. They don't add up.

jB and others: I thank God that George W. Bush has been our president these past 7 2/3 years.
1. It was President Bush's 2001 tax cuts that greatly limited the effects of the 2000-01 recession. Unfortunately just as the economy was rebounding al Qaeda attacked us on 9/11/2001.
2. When al Qaeda attacked us on 9/11/2001, President Bush understand that we were at war with the Islamic extremists and acted decisively by leading a coalition in an air and ground assault on the Taliban and al Qaeda. Unlike his Democratic predecessor who treated them as common criminals when they bombed the World Trade Center in 1993. Unlike when his Democratic predecessor's retaliation for al Qaeda's attack of our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 by bombing a pharmaceutica plant in the Sudan. Unlike when his Democratic predecessor did absolutely nothing when al Qaeda attacked the USS Cole in 2000.
3. President Bush decided 12 years of diplomatically trying to persuade Saddam Hussein to comply with the conditions of the 1991 Gulf War cease fire was long enough. During those twelve years there were hundreds of thousands of Iraqis tortured, murdered and raped. In addition, Saddam Hussein reaped billions of dollars through his oil-for-food scheme, which left millions of Iraqis poor and starving. So President Bush rescinded the cease fire and lead a coalition to invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam Hussein.
4. It was President Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax cuts that turned our economy around following the attacks and the corporate scandals of 2002. Not only did we have 54 consecutive months of job growth from September 2003 through December 2007 (5 million jobs created), but we actually had two quarters of more tax revenue coming in than what was spent.
5. President Bush, members of his Administration and several GOP senators tried to reign in the abuses of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2003, 2005 and 2006. They warned Congress that strict oversight was necessary. Unfortunately the Democrats in both the House and the Senate took offense to the warnings and declared that there were no problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--in spite of the hundreds of millions of dollars being looted by former Clinton Administration officials during that time. And the Senate Democrats blocked every attempt to get the full Senate to vote on the bills which would have implemented strict oversight.
6. Even with the early effects of the triple whammy (housing market downturn; early subprime mortgage crisis; and the skyrocketing of energy prices) that hit our economy in 2006 and 2007, our economy was still growing. In fact, GDP grew 0.9% in the first quarter and 2.8% in the second quarter of 2008.
UNFORTUNATELY the Democratic controlled Congress did absolutely nothing regarding oversight of the financial institutions since taking office on January 3, 2007. Instead they continued to allow Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and banks to push home mortgages to low income individuals that could not afford to pay back the loans EVEN as the housing market began its downturn.
So now you want the same inept Democrats to have larger majorities of both Houses and to take control of the White House. These are the same politicians who would treat al Qaeda as common criminals. These are the same politicians who have an utter disdain for Corporate America. These are the same politicians who want to decimate capitalism with governmental regulations. These are the same politicians who want to redistribute the wealth and destroy the American Dream.
So yes, I do thank God that President Bush has gotten us through the major hits that our economy has taken during his two terms. Unlike his predecessor who did absolutely nothing when the dot com bubble burst because it was an election year, President Bush pushed to rescue the economy with his $700 Billion rescue plan. At least this once, the Democrats in Congress finally decided to act.

Palin's approach is - as AP described - racially tinged. Nobody reacts to McCain's ties to G. Gordon Liddy, connection to Keating Five, or Todd Palin's connection to the Alaskan Independence Party. The average voter nevertheless raises eyebrows when Obama is linked to Ayers, because he is black.
Just imagine if Obama had John McCain's record:
(i) a broken first marriage, ending up in an affair,
(ii) a wife who is addicted to drugs,
(iii) former "terrorist" friend G. Gordon Liddy,
(iv) linked to the Keating Five scandal,
(v) a vile temper, known to use foul language.
or if he had Sarah Palin's record:
(i) a pregnant teenage daughter,
(ii) a mediocre degree,
(iii) a secessionist sympathizing husband,
(iv) a nexus with a Kenyan witchdoctor,
(v) an abysmally low IQ and lack of basic understanding of economy & foreign affairs.
I completely agree with "jB" who posted earlier in this issue. PLEASE SCROLL UP AND READ WHAT SOMEONE CALLED "jB" COMMENTED. It is double standards!

McNoShame and failing Palin are two desperate candidates. They will not stick to the issues because they cannot offer anything for the American people instead they will resort to character assasination which the republican are good at. During the candidacy of Bush they did this also so look at what happened to us for the last 8 years. American we should learn from our mistakes and do not believe the liars. By the way failing Palin congratulations you are really really good in memorizing.

The fallout from Palin's debate performance begins!!wink wink, Joe Sixpack! What a joke! Obama in a landslide!!
Thank you America!

What a desperate lowlife, white trash, loser Palin is. I can't believe that Mr. "I won't run that kind of campaign" McCain is allowing his running mate to resort to such mindless, cheap rhetoric. America is in peril after what the Republicans and Bush have done to us! We need to know what these politicians are going to do to fix the mess, not about smear and gossip from 40 years ago! Obama is an upstanding guy, and Palin is showing us all what trailer trash she truly is. No how, no way, no McCain, No Palin.

tired of whining: If I made up stuff about you and posted it here, would you ignore it or respond to it?
It's natural for a campaign and supporters to respond to misrepresentations and lies about their positions. Both sides do it. It's not whining.
Posted by: Aengil | Oct 5, 2008 4:23:05 PM
Grey Matter, let's see! $10 Billion per month is just $120 Billion. But that is already borrowed money. So are you suggesting that we borrow $120 Billion per year? But even that plus the $75 Billion from the raised taxes on the top 2% of the nation's wage earners and even maybe another $100 Billion by cutting and trimming wasteful spending on inefficient programs (although don't hold your breath on that, as the Democrats rarely cut spending programs--even when the programs are inefficient), that would total just $295 Billion. That is still about $705 Billion short!!!!

if Obama has nothing to hide from the American people, then why all the whining from the Obama camp and his supporters?...unless there have been some lies told!

McCain showing up to help with the bill was nothing but a political stunt. He wanted to grab the headlines. He wanted to appear more presidential. It didn't work. The reports said he basically sat there and added nothing to the discussion. So what was the actual point of him being there when he didn't even contribute to the discussion?
As I said, he just wanted to grab the headlines and to give his campaign time to respond to something they didn't know how to respond to. It backfired badly.

There is no basis to call what Obama and Ayers have a FRIENDSHIP. It's more than an acquaintanceship fueled by work and charity projects. Have you ever worked? Have you ever had friendships with colleagues that really didn't extend much beyond the workplace except for office parties and the occasional dinner with someone?
>Obama is aloof,
You know him personally, do you? What you see as aloof I see as thoughtful and someone who will not make rash decisions. I do not want someone like McCain - who acts first and then thinks- anywhere near the Oval Office.
>a pure Socialist-Communist, no >executive experinces,
Please explain in your own words what he believes in that makes him a "Socialist-Communist." And since McCain has never been a governor I guess that means he's not qualified either because he has no EXECUTIVE experience.
>Should American allow the Demcrat to >destroy the nation after Fannie Mae >Democrat caused Financial crisis?
Please read up on the facts about the Fannie/Freddy debacle. It was not a problem brought on entirely by the Democrats. McCain's main economic adviser Phil Gramm is also a lot to blame for our current economic problems.
This is the problem - people are spewing hateful misinformation all over the Internet when they don't even know the facts.
And as for your prayer, I'll be praying every day IF McCain gets into office. I wish for his continued good health now, but I will pray fervently for him to be well if he's elected because the thought of a President Palin scares the life out of me.

McCain "irratic in a crisis"? At least McCain voluntarily showed up to roll up his sleeves and get to work on the economic crisis. Obama came only when summoned, preferring to lay low, let others do the heavy lifting, and avoid taking a firm stance in order to remain politically unharmed.

dear "remember (whatever it was)" - glad you brought up Madeline Albright. You should have included Sandy "(I have the incriminating documents in my socks)" Berger. They each have almost as much credibility at MSNBC and CNN. I am amused every time I Wolfe Blitzer attempt to read and talk at the same time.
You are accusing McCain - the one guy who did not ever get into the corrupt practice of buying votes via earmarkts.
McCain was the guy who put country first and went to Washington to do his job on this most serious of issues. He was roundly criticized for it. As it turns out it was Obama's rant in the closed door meeting that broke the first deal. McCain kept his cool and organized behind the scenes.

Dear "... Tone" - inoculation that is cute. You made a freudian slip and said "sold values" rather than "solid values". I think the "sold" values is to the point about corruption. We have let corruption invade our financial and political systems. Worse yet, we have let it invade us.
The pandering that passes as politics is a corruption we all seem to e eager to hear and be apart of. When Obama says that 95% of the American workers will not be taxed, that is clearly pandering of a quality we only expect form the likes of Hugo Chavez and 60's communist radicals.

I kinda feel sorry for McCain, he wants to be President so bad he will do and say anything to get there. He is so desperate its pathetic to watch. Picking Sarah just made things worse it was embarrasing to watch her fumble over simple questions, if you can't say one paper or magazine you read how hard is that. The hockey mom, joe sixpack comments and the cutesy winks, or maybe that is a nervous tick, since John
McCain does that also. We need a leader and Barack and Joe will do the job. Look at it this way, it cannot get worse.

SEE YA, BARRY! YOU ARE ABOUT TO RUN INTO THE REPUBLICAN ATTACK MACHINE. BETTER HAVE SOMEONE KEEPING THAT SENATE SEAT WARM FOR YOU. MAYBE PELOSI WILL DO THAT FOR YOU.....
Posted by: Foodforthought | Oct 5, 2008 2:57:40 PM
Dear "remember .. bee" - do you honestly believe that MSNBC and CNN are for America and Americans? If they have a choice between Rev. Wright and mom in Nebraska they will pick the racist reverend or 60's anti-American terrorist.
Look what heppened when Bill Clinton exposed himself to a powerless state worker in Arkansas. They picked creepy Bill. As did NOW and all of the other organizations who should be working for the weakest among us.
Now, why bring up creepy Bill? Well, Obama is claiming McCain is Bush. McCain was the guy who said Bush was doing it all wrong in Iraq - and McCain got heat because of that. McCain has been against many of the republican agendas - specifally campaign finance and monitoring of the financial industry.
The mainstream media is despartely trying to entrap the republicans. Not necessarily bad if they did the same thing to all.

Inoculation is the bet remedy for the Rovian virus from the planet Bush. The innoculation is simple - mix some thoughtfulness, some charm, sold values, and strong integrity and you will experience much more than morning sickness. .............

Again, who's social agenda was it to push innovative subprime loans towards people that couldn't afford it?

Okay?

CLabs, watch Burning Down the House.
Mortgage-backed securities existed before Bush.
Had Fannie/Freddie not gone wild nad had not backed the crap loans, this mess, if it were to happen today, would have been much more minimized.
Alan Greenspan in 2005
"yet in 2005 Alan Greenspan told Congress how urgent it was for it to act in the clearest possible terms: If Fannie and Freddie ``continue to grow, continue to have the low capital that they have, continue to engage in the dynamic hedging of their portfolios, which they need to do for interest rate risk aversion, they potentially create ever-growing potential systemic risk down the road,'' he said. ``We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk.''"
Again, who's social agenda was it to push innovative subprime loans towards people that couldn't afford it?
Watch the SNL Bush/Pelosi/Frank skit while you're watching Burning Down the House too please.

Should the terrorist friend become the US President? Obama and the terrorist Bill Ayers were together in 1995 why denied? In 1995 Obama was not 8 years old.
Obama is aloof, a pure Socialist-Communist, no executive experinces, and his swet talk does not make him qualified to be the President of the US.
Should American allow the Demcrat to destroy the nation after Fannie Mae Democrat caused Financial crisis?

When Obama quit wearing his American flag pin people questioned that - I think overly questioned it. When you follow that with his claim that he did not know that Rev. Wright is racist (against Americans) that begins to add up as evidence. Ayers had a fund raiser for Obama in Ayer's home. That collection of facts points to some one who does not hold America and Americans in a positive light.
Obama's wife did not help when she said that for the first time in her life she was proud of America when Barak was warmly accepted by middle America. Further his disparaging remarks about middle America and religion further add to the evidence that he does not have a respect for America that one would hope for.
We should move past these things to the issues. Will these candidates be good for America.
As a liberal from the 70s and 80s I think we did the wrong thing in Vietnam. Two million people died when we pulled out too quickly. That did result in the invigoration of America as we had a flood of Vietnamese boat people after that - the best of people.
Is there an analogy with America and Iraq. I think so.

Old stale tried and failed dirty politics of McCain-Palin has reared it's ugly head again. No worries the American people will surely reject them once again. It's ALL about the economy stupid !
Everyone who has half a brain already know that this kind of nasty tactic of McCain-Palin is a LIE and has been debunked many times. But I guess if one has an evil heart, if one is unqualified to be VP and president, and whose campaign is in the toilet; then I guess it's the only thing one can try to dig up and make every effort to try to turn the page on the economy.
So if they want to focus their attention and energy in this direction, then I hope ALL of the American people will completely reject them.
I am glad Obama is revealing truths and staying focused on what the American people need !
The America people will definitely have a real clear choice - to vote for a campaign [ Bush-McCain-Palin ] that focuses on LIES, rather that putting forth an economic plan that will benefit the lives of the America people, and put the country on a better path. Or vote for the ticket [ Obama-Biden ] that has manintained focused on an economic plan and vision to bring prosperity and justice to ALL of the American people and NOT just the wealthy and well connected.
It's time for the American people to get it right and NOT vote for McCain-Palin, instead vote for change. It's time for this country to turn the page and seek a new and better future for ourselves and our children. It's time for REAL change in Washington, it's time to elect Barack Obama for president !
Obama-Biden are the wiser and stronger team to solve the crucial challenges we have in this nation and abroad !

I could go on and on.. but my point is... the hypocrisy of the republicans and so many in this country is on such a low shameful and painful level that I cannot find an adjective to describe it. These people have ZERO objectivity and ZERO conscience... Obama is held to a much higher standard because of ONE reason only... the color of his skin... The racists out there reading and screaming don't know this point and remember it always...
"who God blesses NO MAN CAN CURSE" I hope Obama wins for the sake of this country... The republicans are praying and hoping that the idiots will return their failed party to power... Their support is critical and so the only way to appeal to hate is to manufacture lies and innuendo, reapeat it enough times that the "heartland of America" would vote "white". Sad, because 4 more years of Bush won't help them anymore than the last 8 years did... Am just soo tired of all the hate and racism I read on the blog sites... people pretending to debate facts when instead they are debating their hate, racism and bigotry... all because they cannot stand the thought of a man with black skin in the white house... never mind the way this country has gone down the crapper and the fact that the two women who rai
