Obama Warns Supporters to Not Get 'Cocky'
October 16, 2008 10:04 AM
At a fundraiser at Manhattan's Metropolitan Club this morning, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., admonished his supporters to not be overconfident heading into the homestretch.
"For those of you who are feeling giddy or cocky or think this is all set," Obama said, "I just have two words for you: New Hampshire."
Polls indicated Obama would win the Granite State primary in January, but he lost to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
"I've been in these positions before when we were favored and the press starts getting carried away and we end up getting spanked," Obama said. "That's another good lesson that Hillary Clinton taught me."
More than 100 people, each contributing $30,800, listened to Obama's warnings.
"What we want to do in these 19 days is show the same passion for Americans who are struggling out there, show the same dedication, show the same stick-to-it-ness, show the same steadiness that's going to be required in guiding this country past some very difficult times," he said.
Obama this morning heads to the state where he got "spanked," New Hampshire, for an event in Londonderry today.

"John Mcain and Palin are the real American we can trust."
ha ha... give me a break! McCain is all over the place!... he has a new position everyday. His 'base' is the top 5% of Americans... the RICH. Republicans have had control for the last 8 years... look at this country now... on the verge of collapse! McCain supported and voted along with Bush the entire time! Our country has been raped and pillaged! McCain is a RICH old man with a bucket list!... on that list... is to be President of the United States! Then... don't forget Palin... the 'Hockey Mom'. Top republican Chuck Hagel said himself that Palin is NOT qualified to be VP let alone President! THAT'S A REALLY SCARY THOUGHT!
Vote for your interest... VOTE OBAMA~
And don't forget the mismanagement of the many issues we faced over the last 8 years. Afghanistan, Iraq, soldiers not having proper equipment/body armor to fight the war they've been LIED into, Bin Laden still on the loose, Katrina, the eroding away of our constitutional rights, greed and the loss of deregulation that cause this economic crisis etc., all on the watch and under the control of Bush and the republican party!
VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!

Don't forget the possibility of Palin becoming President!... That woman is NOT qualified to be VP let alone President! Top republican Chuck Hagel said so himself!
VOTE OBAMA!... AND TELL PALIN/MCCAIN "THANKS... BUT NO THANKS" ON NOV 4TH!

Just ask the Tampa Bay Rays if it is over. They thought they were headed to the World Series last night and now they're stunned. Don't count your empty Obama promises just yet. He may be ahead in the polls, but those supporters of the leftist illuminati still have a few weeks to keep those Obama lies under wraps.

CindyCT.
I'm sure you mean well as do a majority of Democrats. What I've always failed to understand is how any person can think it's fair to take more money from those who are more financially successful just because they are more financially successful. I earn a good living but don't make close to $250k but that doesn't mean I can in good conscience believe those who do should have to pay a larger % of their income than me. They already pay more because they make more. It's that simple. Just because they make 300k more the gov should be able to take a larger portion, really??? How can any true American, understanding why the fathers of our country fought for freedom, believe that is just and fair? We are talking about the equivalent of the school yard bully having his way with other kids because he can. That is what your supporting. Who are YOU to tell someone they should have to pay more than you for the same services. How about we all be responsible for ourselves for a change and stop thinking selfishly and force charity from the those more fortunate. If your parents were poor and scraping by just to eat and somebody came along and took a day's worth of food and gave it to a couple next door just because that couple has even less money would you think that is fair? I know we are not talking about taxing those who can't afford to eat but the principle is the same. Your just deciding it's okay because it "really doesn't hurt anyone", and if you don't see how that kind of thinking hurts us all you will spend your life believing it's okay to steal from hard working people. It not right to take property from people just because they have it, that is crime. This crime is just one we've all, unbelievably, have learned to live with. We must put an end to this irresponsible, selfish, unaccountable way of thinking. Stop expecting the government to fix ALL your problems. By the way, billionaires who talk about taxing the rich more, just like rich actors and musicians, live in a different world than you and I. They don't know what it means to want to retire and feel secure that they can anymore. Maybe at one time they did, but nobody who thinks taking other people's money away is justifiable should be allowed to give advice. THEY DON'T GET IT.
Less government is the first step. Accountability and responsibility must be forced on the people just as much as the government. People take advantage of the system (I.E. supporting a candidate who's only true goal is to gain power so he tells people with less money, "Hey, let's just take more from those evil rich people and businesses and give it to you". We should be ashamed of such talk. What's the point of attempting go get rich if your goverment is just going to redistribute it to the public?
Tax ALL businesses at the same rate. Trust me, they'll all adjust or better businesspeople will take their place. Abolish the current individual income tax and create a national sales tax. Don't tax food or fuel, everything else gets taxed. If you don't want to pay tax it's easy...save your money. Rich poeple buy more so they will pay more taxes. If a billionaire pays nothing because he buys nothing, Kudos to him (or her) for conserving. It's a "green" plan because poeple will be forced to conserve or pay the tax for not conserving.
It's a simple plan but can work. It will never happen if folks like you, Cindy, don't stop propogating irresponsible acceptance of a morally wrong sense of entitlement that allows so many to think the way do.
Apply your logic to any other scenario and tell me how it's fair.

When the lot of you finally get to the end of your day, how do you feel?
Are you connected in your heart, or is the road still runnin' through your hills?
When you tuck your family in at night, do you wish them well? Do you take the time to thank your creator at your wishen' well, and ask how well did you do!
Did you ever think to get rid of all the stuff- the emails/ magazines/bad habits/ double minded ways that plagues; your time, your spirit, your love, and frustrates your life throughout your days!? You keep your time buisy, but it shows up as waiste!
There is no cause better or greater then- our families, our friends, and our need to show love towards all living creatures... giving thanks from within.
I gave up my email, and shared it per view, it showed me how much stuff could keep the love of life from commin' through!
If I were a newcommer, out of the blue, would you great me with love, could I trust all of you?
I'm a man called VETERAN, a man of HONOR, a man of TRUTH! I've had my regrets, but still I pulled through...
I know I have SISTERS and BROTHERS , still left behind FEELING them POW BLUES! You know if you sit real still you can feel them too, they cry in their dreams, come rescue me- YOU!
I tossed my magazines and feel on my face with tears of discust, pounding the ground kicking up dust, is there no TRUST in all of YOU!
Us VETERANS give our BLOOD, WE give our LIFE, just to protect -even YOU! Can you my reason , I don't feel you do?
A man of peace, and wisdom..., I sought justice caring for you! There are men and women calling for justice too!
They censor our brothers from speaking the truth, as a wife and family are still hurting too!
In the FACE of FREEDOM, unanswered questions come through, did someone lock the door to justice for the sake of his families name, POW's still waiting, but, McCain was of no use- he closed the door tighter to hide all the TRUTH!!! POW's LEFT BEHIND with their families in tears!
WHAT DO I THINK of ALL of YOU,
YOU TALK TOO MUCH, ISN"T IT THE TRUTH
I WAVE MY FLAG AS AN AMERICAN IN FRONT of ALL of YOU / PEACE and LOVE

Anyone believing the race is over is committing a foolish act. There are too many variables that can skew things dramatically. Remember the numbers of people who cast ballots for George Bush - not only in '00, but again in '04.
U.S. voters have established they are capable of repeating foolish acts (reference the last paragraph), so do not be fooled into thinking Bush/Palin cannot prevail in November.
Also, let us not forget the race issue. Racism is widespread in the U.S., with many who would not vote for a black candidate - no matter the value of that candidate's service to them. More's the pity!
The Obama-Biden campaign cannot afford to let up for even one minute. They must intensify, avoiding miscues and gaffes. Speak to the people in terms to which they can relate. Many have listened - perhaps more will, to ensure we begin a reversal of our devastation, not a continuation of same.

Don't underestimate the anti-black vote. This could be the biggest upset since Dewey beats Truman.

Quoting Mr,Judge a book by it's cover man.
Just Look at Obama face I can tell he is a liar, he pretend to be calm, cool.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
That makes no sense at all and PAILING GO SHOOT PAIL?
SHE AND HER GUNS?? NO WAY!!LOL
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Dear silly guy...if we all could just look at the face of a person and just judge the book by it's cover...there would not be so many innocent people in jail right now while the real criminals are running free.
Come again!Rethink before you speak and take a look in the mirror..you may see something shocking looking back at you..Yourself.
DON'T JUDGE A BOOK OR ANYONE BY THEIR COVER...YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED IF YOU CONTINUE TO DO.BELIEVE IT.
You have got to do much better than that my dear.:)

Yeah right. Thank God there isn't any gloating by the followers of the New Messiah. That's damn funny. Obviously you haven't read many of the posts on here.

"I am ready for Texas to say the heck with the United States and lets go off on our own...we have oil, manufacturing, a democratic government, ag, crops, "
I wouldn't be surprised... Palin and her husband were members of AIP Alaskan Independence Party that seeks independence from the United States. Basically remove a star from the flag! Bush could be president of Texas and Palin could be president of Alaska!

Obama just said that he would send 25 Billion dollars to help New Hampshire & the 20 other states facing budget shortfalls so they will not have to raise property taxes or further cut state services. I guess the other 32 states gets no help because their state government knows how to balance a budget unlike you loser states like California & New Hampshire. I am glad that my hard earn tax dolllars are going to bail out a losing corrupt states. No different than the bail out plan for the financial institutions on Wall Street...I am ready for Texas to say the heck with the United States and lets go off on our own...we have oil, manufacturing, a democratic government, ag, crops,

"Obama wants to increase our taxes and distribute it according to his priorities."
I ASSUME YOU MAKE OVER $250K?? SOMEHOW I DOUBT IT BEING YOUR POSTING ON HERE. IF YOU DO MAKE OVER $250K... YOU WILL HAVE A 3% INCREASE IN YOUR TAXES.

If McCane has an ounce of self-respect left, he will render a public apology to the American People - Republicans and Democrats - for the racist hate-filled dangerous divisive demagoguery of his campaign. The McCain we see on the campaign trail is not the McCain that many once admired, if not for any other reason, his service in the US Armed Forces and the years of his life he had to sacrifice as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. My Republican friends are saddened by the fact that McCain in a desperate attempt to win the presidential election at all costs, has irrevocably tarnished his own reputation and the once great Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln. I personally don't think that McCane has much of reputation to tarnish - other than perhaps the carefully crafted public persona McCain has created for himself. The reality, given his ties to criminals like Gordon Liddy (of Watergate notoriety, an advocate of domestic terrorism), his cosy relationship with Cuban terrorists, and his and his wife Cindy McCain's intimate connections with organized crime, is much uglier. As for Sarah Pallin, David Brooks, a dyed-in-the-wool Bill Buckleyite conservative is right on the mark when he called Sarah Palin "a fatal cancer to the Republican Party". In other words, the Republican party has a deadly case of SARAH PALINOMA. If the Republican Party does not want to lose all those decent Republicans who are getting disgusted with McCane-Palin candidacy, and as a result, get discarded in the dustbins of history, it needs to denounce the McCain-Palin candidacy - and do what is right: withdraw the McCain-Palin GOP ticket from the 2008 presidential election. After that, the Republican Party can focus on tough task ahead - that of cleansing itself from racists, domestic terrorists, and criminals, ultra conservative fascists, and of rebuilding the Republican Party on the principles that the great Republican luminaries like Abraham Lincoln stood for.

"It's a lie. Secret Service said that it never happened. The Messiah has lied once again. "
It's not a lie... what was it brought up in the debate last night??? It's FACT.

The head of Sen. John McCain’s transition team, power lobbyist William Timmons, was involved in a lobbying effort on behalf of SADDAM HUSSEIN in the early 1990s “to ease international sanctions against his regime.”
