Oh, That Joe! (No. 29 in a Series) -- Obama & Biden's Three-Letter Word: J-O-B-S

October 15, 2008 2:40 PM

With the economy floundering, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., told Ohio voters today that he and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., would focus on one specific issue that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has neglected.

"Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S," the Democratic veep nominee said at a morning rally in Athens.

And the Delaware lawmaker added that while McCain and his running mate Gov. Sarah Palin might consider themselves mavericks, Biden has a real one working on his staff.

"Look, John McCain and Sarah Palin call themselves mavericks," said the loquacious Blue Hen. "By the way, a young woman who does all the policy stuff for me, she is literally a member of that, the family."

The senator was referring to his policy director Terrell McSweeney, a member of the Maverick family from the Lone Star State, who is none too happy that McCain and Palin have co-opted her family name.

"You know how that name Maverick came up?" he continued. "It's a Texas ranching family called the Mavericks. Well, she is really a Maverick. I mean, she is -- she is on the bloodline of the Mavericks, but she was explaining that whole thing to me on the bus ride two days ago."

McSweeney, in fact, even has an infant son whose middle name is Maverick.

"Bobby Casey had a great line," Biden said, referring to the Pennsylvania senator. "I wish I'd thought of it. Bobby Casey said you can't call yourself a maverick when all you've been for the last eight years is a sidekick."

Hey give him a break. He may not be able to count, but he knows that the US and France kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon AND then he called for NATO troops to go in there and fill the gap. Oh wait, we didn't do that now. Oh stand up for Joe, the Foreign Policy Heavyweight on the Democratic ticket. Stand up for Joe!

This is a great example of media bias.

If Ms Palin had made the same mistake, there would be 24/7 coverage, with experts calling for an investigation of Alaskan education standards and pundits asking how McCain could nominate someone unable to count to four.

Where is the outrage? Where are the pundits? What happened to the 'fact-0-meter going red? How can such a fundamental error like this go unchallenged?

But seriously, folks, where is the fairness?

It was Ohio ... where the primary source of pride at the largest university is when the band spells a four letter world on the field. But did anybody in the audience notice Joe's gaffe (until the press pointed it out)?

Posted by: OneObservation | Oct 16, 2008 5:54:27 PM

I heard that Obama asked his lemmings today if any of them know any plumbers that make $250,000 a year. Do you all remember the genius Al Gore who made the statement if you earn $250,000. for four years in a row you are a millionaire!!! Now Biden says something dumb every other day. Those Democrats are so funny don't you think?

Is someone afraid of my telling the truth? I guess the TRUTH really does scare the left!! I don't see similar comments against the right being removed.

I repeat myself. When are people going to educate themselves and do intensive research to finally learn the truth? The whole financial crisis was CAUSED by Democrats. Carter started it with the Community Reinvestment Act. Clinton perpetuated the problem by forcing banks to give more loans to people who could not afford to pay them back by threatening the banks with prosecution from Reno's office. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac's books were cooked by democrats who siphoned off tens of millions of dollars and who were protected by their Democrat buddies in Congress and the Senate. Several times, the Republicans tried to get controls put in and the Democrats blocked them each time. See the videos with Waters, Meeks, Frank, Dodd, etc. They outright lied.

And over and over again, the Democrats pathologically repeat their lies that it is "the Republican's fault" --when it is NOT!!

But they keep repeating it and the mainstream media (who are in the left's pocket) refuses to repudiate it or tell the truth.

NO, the TRUTH does NOT hurt the GOP. It hurts the Democrats...that is why they cannot tell it anymore. What happened to their integrity?? The Democrat party was once a great party. Now it has been infiltrated with selfish, self-serving, mean, nasty people. They have become greedy, power-mongering thieves. They don't care about the poor. If they did, then why are the poor in worse poverty in all the cities that have been run by Dems for long periods of time. Why are those Democrat run cities in economic disaster?? No, their leftist policies are designed to keep the poor down and dependent on the government so those in office can keep their jobs and keep taking from the taxpayers.

When are you folks going to do some in-depth research and educate yourselves enough to realize that the Democrat party is full of greedy, self-serving power-mongering thieves? They caused the problem in the economy. Carter started it with the Community Reinvestment Act. Clinton perpetuated it by forcing banks to extend more loans or be prosecuted by Reno's office. ACORN has been stumping for people to get loans regardless of whether or not the people could afford them. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac books were cooked and funds were siphoned off by the tens of millions by democrats and supported and protected by Democrat Senators and Congressmen. Cloward and Piven are still pushing their strategy of overwhelming the system to destroy capitalism and they are doing so through the Democrat party.

And the dems just repeat the lies over and over "it is the Republican's fault" even though it is NOT! But they repeat it over and over and the mainstream media (being in the left's pocket) allows it and doesn't dispute it.

No, the TRUTH does NOT hurt the GOP. The TRUTH hurts the Democrats. That is why they NEVER seem to tell it anymore. What happened to their integrity?? They were once a good and proud party. Now they are infiltrated with mean, nasty people who really don't care about anyone else but themselves, and they will do ANYTHING (even sell their own mother) to perpetuate their lies.

ECON 101:

Obama's plan to tax those who make over $250K including businesses will destroy job generation. When you take money away from businesses, they have to cover it somehow. So, they may pass on costs to their customers through price increases and/or they may find that they cannot sustain the same number of employees and will cut the most expensive asset they have--the employee. Either way, you slow down the economy because you slow down business.

McCain promised to cut taxes all the way across the board. This will help stimulate business to invest more in its people, R&D, and may even allow them to cut prices to become more competitive. If the company prospers, so does the public--not just shareholders (which is often the average person) but also employees and consumers too.

Cutting costs on business stimulates growth. Imposing more costs, stagnates business and kills competition.

If Dan Quayle said JOBS is a 3 letter word, you people would be laughing hysterically and it would be the punchline of 400 jokes on Leno and Letterman.

Ok, people make mistakes, especially when they have to talk all day. But let's face it, Biden's gaffes are more regular than the atomic clock. He is clearly one of the dumbest people in the Senate and frankly, he's a windbag.

We hear about every Palin mis-step no matter how small yet, Senator Plagiarism gets away with one goof after another. And why is it that no one called him on all of the lies and mistatements he made in teh debate about Palin?

Obama is not ready to be president becaue he is inexperienced and an empty suit. Biden is not QUALIFIED to be president because he is a plagiarist and and idiot.

McCain is no maverick.
He's a Bush legatee.

In three weeks he'll
be cast into the
political wilderness
from which there is no
coming back.

A few last minute prep tips: The old attack game isn't going to work...better to concentrate on the work of helping the American people get jobs.

When you've concentrated your campaign on the failed policies of the last two terms its difficult to put your campaign on the right track in two weeks and I've been talking about this to the American people for twenty-two months.

and just one prep for me personally: earroll radio personality ain't got nuthin' on me...and he gets paid, go figure...sting like a bee, ahhhhhhhhhhhh

This ranting about Obama being a socialist is ridiculous. We're already there courtesy of our free market ideologues and manic deregulators.

We Americans are now "owners" of equity interest in nine of America's largest banks. If that doesn't define socialism, I don't know what does. I doubt, though, that any of us will be getting dividend checks any time soon.

If that's not socialistic enough for you, McCain wants to spend $300 billion in public funds to buy problem mortgage's from banks at their original inflated values and then provide homeowners with mortgages at current actual values. Who eats the difference? You and me. Sounds like basic "spread the wealth" socialism to me.

Jenny Rome Ga--Maybe you should go to Alaska, work in a union job on the North Slope. You can make $70,000 to $150,000 a year - MBA not necessary.

Hey, you do not need to pay income taxes at all. Well, of course, you still have to pay Zero-bama's tax increase.

Posted by: d0 | Oct 15, 2008 6:02:23 PM

Donna Hughes,

I understand your choice. However, we are voting for the Pres. not who is on the VP spot. There is not argument that he is articulate and well-spoken and a term got Biden in trouble which tanked his candidacy on the day he started. His speeches can make you feeling really good.

At one point, George W. Bush was thought be be likable, with whom you'd rather have a beer with.

Some aruge Bush has no intelligence, whereas Zero-bama is intelligent.

I do not know. However, Zero is Zero-bama's character. There has not been a single thing that he has done or has taken a responsibility in his life that you can say that has helped others, rather than benefiting himself.

He is a race-baiter. He equates the Clinton administration the same as that of Bush's. He sold his soul by trashing his fellow democrats, the only successful president from his party in the past 60 years, simply it would benefit him by a few deceived votes. He has no principles. He is only into money giveaways during the primaries and the general election. He has lied to his supporters, first telling them he would vote against and filabuster the bill to allow Bush to spy on the citizens during the primaries to pander moveon.com, but only changed his mind to vote for it, taking our constitutional right of privacy away.

If none of these matter to you, good luck and good night.

Hey, Joe, Bobby Casey can't call himself Bob Casey because we Pennsylvania's remember his dad and he ain't no Bob Casey.

I wonder what 'ole Joe is going to do when John McCain wins..come back crawling with an apology. I thought the Obama campaign was not for looking back to the Clinton era. Remember Joe's, Michelle's and Barack's own words.
