On The Daily Show Tonight, Obama Jokes His White Half Will Be Confused of Who to Vote for

October 29, 2008 7:28 PM

On tonight's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. -- a guest via satellite from Sunrise, Florida -- was asked about the Bradley Effect.

"The Polls have you up," said Stewart, "but then they keep talking about the Bradley Effect, this idea that white voters when they go to the polls they will tell pollsters they will vote for an African American but they won't actually do it?"

"Yeah, they’ve been saying that for awhile but we’re still here," Obama said. "So I don’t know.  I don’t think white voters have gotten this memo about the Bradley Effect."

"Are you concerned in some respects," Stewart joked, "I don’t know how to bring this up, your mother is from Kansas, father African, are you concerned that you may go into the voting booth and --"

"I wont know what to do," Obama joked, finishing the comedian's thought.

" -- your white half will all of a sudden decide, 'I can't do this!'" Stewart said.

"Yeah," Obama said. "It’s a problem ... I’ve been going though therapy to make sure that I vote properly on the 4th."

Michelle:

You mean Jack Welch doesn't know Warren Buffet OR the CEO of Google? (just two of many businessment who are supporting Sen Obama)

Geee - and here we thought Jack Welch knew everything and everyone - maybe we should ask him why GE's profits are down so much. Since he knows everything and all.

ARealAmerican: So, blacks can be racist too? ha! Not everyone is voting on the color of his skin. The content of his character matters too.

Another blog entry idea for you Jake (not that it will interest you)--Jack Welch, former CEO of GE, said today that he "doesn't know how any businessman could vote for Obama."

Will we see this here? Over/Under on this one?

The republican's trickle-down hate has definitely been more successful than their trickle-down economics.

rbyanes...I agree, and I support McCain...I think people on both sides need to lighten up, Obama's comment was funny (btw both candidates were very funny at that roast-type dinner a few weeks back)

...even if we do become Canada II. :-)

I think reference to the Bradley effect is inaccurate. I prefer the "Shy Tory" effect...it's not about race, it's about ideology and not wanting to appear like an old "twentieth century" type...god knows nobody knows who I am voting for except my wife (who is voting Obama, I think...it's cool...she is still mad at him for dissing Clinton in the primary, though)

Geez, guys, enjoy a funny blog entry. I know the GOPers want it all doom, gloom, sleeze and smear but learn to laugh. You'd think you guys were going to get your handed to you in 6 days.... :)

I know you Obots think this is funny, and if it weren't RACIST it might be.

John Stewart is hilarious!

Obama has been spreading his own lies, but will be spreading other people's wealth.

Posted by: young_voter | Oct 29, 2008 7:53:21 PM

It seems that Mr. Obama does not believe in spreading his own wealth around! This just posted on the Times on Line! Seems Mr. Obama would rather use our money to help his Aunt rather than reach into his own pocket! Pretty Sad!

Hey skinny dog, from the US Senate web site:

U.S. Senate Roll Call Votes 110th Congress - 2nd Session
On Passage of the Bill (S.2248 as Amended )
McCain (R-AZ), Yea

got more lies for us skinny?

=====

JR,

You have mistaken the temporary measure in February as the FISA of 2007 expiring to extend it for a month or so. At that time of the passage of the bill you quoted, 0bama was lying to you that he will vote against it and would filabuster it in the "real" bill, simply to deceive you to buy your vote. He did not vote that bill, McCain voted for the temporary extension.

The FISA bill, the real one, THE ONE, was considered in July, at which time, 0bama no longer needed your support in the Democrat Primaries. He, the liar, 0bama, voted for it. McCain and Clinton voted against it.

Oh my goodness. Jake. This is worthy of space on your blog? Really? Obama's relatives found living in Boston slums. Joe Biden basically hidden on the campain trail. And you're going to go down the "white people who don't vote for Obama are racist" road? Wow. Goodbye to what was left of any shred of your objectivity....and best of luck in your future endeavors.

2008--the year journalism died.
