The Great Debate
October 07, 2008 8:39 PM
NASHVILLE, TENN. -- We're here at Curb Arena at Belmont University for the second presidential debate.
Right now the dudes from the Commission on Presidential Debates are talking.
Meanwhile, an e-mail comes across my screen:
Markets are open in Asia ... and it looks like the sour trading day in the Americas has rolled across the Pacific.
Japan: Down 2.67%
Australia: Down 4.06%
New Zealand: Down 2.03%
Korea: Down 2.72%

Blah, Blah,Blah. Both candidates are distracting us from the issues we are concerned with such as AFFORDABLE health care and fixing this hugh economic mess. They are devoting more time to Pakistan than the important issues for Americans. Frankly, I am tired of being the World's police at the expense of our citizens.

As a republican if this was to be a game changer I dont see it. In fact I thought I McCain was to shime on this type of format. I did not see nothing new tonight. I know now for sure who to vote for and thats not John McCain. He sounded like a grumpy old men.

“I saw no evidence of a radical streak, either overt or covert, when we were together at Harvard Law School,” said Bradford A. Berenson, who worked on the Harvard Law Review with Mr. Obama and who served as associate White House counsel under President Bush. Mr. Berenson, who is backing Mr. McCain, described his fellow student as “a pragmatic liberal” whose moderation frustrated others at the law review whose views were much farther to the left.

Who is willing to step up and show some real courage and set significantly lower spending limits on Presidential, Senatorial and Congressional races. Additionally, set strict camapin time limits in order that there is someone in Washington to do their jobs. Spending is out of control and campains are continuous from one election to another. How can we solve our National issues when politicians are totally focused on raising money and campaining?

Is health care costs up because of nuisance, lawsuits, is this one of the reasons for escalating health care costs.
after all, most of our legislatures are attorneys and want to protect their own kind. What oversights do we have to check the increases in health care costs.

Health Care: Obama gets it, McCain does not. No matter how much money the government wants to give us, if we have no health insurance company who will take it, what good does that do. And, the insurance industry is VERY selective which is why so many are uninsured! Plus, the older you get, the less they cover even if you have been healthy for years...

I"ll tell you all what !!
how about we the people take that 850 billion dollars and split it up between all tax paying adult american citizens ?
I for one would pay off my mortgage, pay off all credit card debt! buy a new car ( energy friendly of coarse !! )
and turn the furnace on b4 dec 24th ..
that is probubly way better than any fanny and freddy will do with it !!
ps I could then afford to buy american and snub my nose at all of those cheap foreign products that are painted with lead and filled with chemicals !!! to kill us all !!
show me the money or put it back !!!!!!

I am a middle age Grandmother of two beautiful children. In this county we have a growing population of first generation parents raising their second generation. In some cases the drugs, some cases lack of educations, some cases parents were lost to gun fire. what ever the case we are raising these children. WHY CAN'T WE GET A TAX BREAK, EDUCATION INCENTIVE. My oldest grandchild has a reading challenge I invested over $5500.00 in a tutoring program ( because in two years of waiting Reading Enhancement Programs make it in the schools budget. NOT FAIR

The thing to keep in mind ... questions are placed and scripted. Thereby, allowing the canidadtes to prepare for the debate prior to. The issue ... is not about who performs best. The issue is more about who will you place in your cabinet that will devise and advise on policy and course correction. The President is not a sole source of decision making ... just a cog in the wheel -- that the powers that be -- elect. Also, does anyone find it quite funny that neither of them can respect the limit of time.
