November 04, 2008 8:38 AM
CHICAGO, Ill. -- Among the other voters who have shown up to vote at Shoesmith Elementary School this morning, where Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., will vote: Louis Farrakhan and William Ayers.
Seriously.
Welcome to the South Side of Chicago.

Ryan,
You said, "Initial spending are on things that will have long term economic effects such as heavy investment in alternative fuels and technology and infrastructure improvements."
We can invest tons of $$$ into alternative fuels and all OPEC has to do is drop prices. Then we are sitting on a HUGE energy investment and our world wide competitors will be buying CHEAP energy. It will be had to compete and hard on the US economy. Mark my word, OPEC can lower prices way, way below what they are and still make money, and make our investment worthless.

"no you are right spending is a great idea, you know what? my town gcould go for one of those 3 million dollar planetariums too."
Or maybe for bear DNA testing.
You know that program McCain keeps bashing that he hypocritically VOTED FOR.
The right wing has lost. What a great day!

"okay great a 50% credit. they are still forced to spend when they may not have the funds in times of financial crisis. you tell me, whats better: a job without benefits or no job at all? These small businesses are struggling as it is."
I love that a right winger is actually calling for small business to drop their health benefits that their employees have worked for as a means to save money and seems quite happy about it.
Why because the candidate the right winger hates wants to help with that situation.

SK: It sounds as though you swallowed everything FOX and Drudge had to throw your way. Palin? Good lord, man, what do you think FDR would think of her? What do you think Jefferson would think of her? They are spinning in their graves at even the notion of Palin in the White House, I am sure.

Stan,
I am also independant. An independant conservative. That basically leaves me with no political party. But it does give me objectivity. I like to sit back and analyze how both parties work. I am very concerned about a Obama, Pelosi, Reed democratic power base. There are ONLY very left wing world views represented by those people.

Ryan, you are right on...it is refreshing to see a poster on one of these blogs that I agree with. Keep up the fight!
Obamanos, 2008!

"my sister is in australia. she had excema bad. she went to 5 doctors, and the first 4 didnt know what to tell her, they had no idea what a common skin problem like that was.
welcome to socialized medecine."
Yes because in the US there is never a misdiagnosis!
ROFLMAO.
WHO ranks Australia ahead of the US but not by much.

Black Panthers with billyclubs at polling places...that's the CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.
I'll bet they're just part of that CIVILIAN GROUP Obama wants to start--you know the one that he said would be as well funded as our military?!
Oh, and when coal goes bankrupt and you have to pay car payment level electricity bills, that will be CHANGE, too.
When your aging parents can't get medical treatment or you wait 18 months to start cancer treatments, better hang on to your HOPE.
Let's HOPE the polls were wrong, and we get McCain/Palin!

Common Sense: and I was wondering why Louisiana could be a "solid GOP" state after Katrina, etc. Now we know. Lame...another example of the GOP being the real enemy of the people.

"so you think that raising taxes will stimulate growth? businesses will struggle more, employ less, cut investment, and thus less profit to be taxed in the end anyway."
Ah yes the right wing myth...exploded by Clinton raising taxes, by Reagan raising taxes in 82 etc.
Trickle down economics are a sham.
"oh so i guess you think spending will help our budget deficit?"
Initial spending are on things that will have long term economic effects such as heavy investment in alternative fuels and technology and infrastructure improvements.
Our country has been left in such a shabby state following Republican pilfering of our treasury and the driving down the value of the dollar that it will take years for us to shake off some of the effects.
Thankfully America is likely to have a man who is inspiring to lead us there and that man is Barack Obama.

That is because she saw Australians...Americans can do ANYTHING better than the rest of the world, if we set our minds to it!

Bravo, Mara. I think the "S-word" scares folks because of the correlation between that and the Cold War/USSR, etc. Whaddya gonna do? Democracy is a living a breathing experiment...we have not seen its final evolution.

The justice department has been asked to step in to rule on two southern state election infractions. Republicans are arresting people at polling sites as part of the Republican suppress the vote effort.
Obama/Biden 08!

"You are receiving more in tax credits than you will be paying in tax. Why doesnt this register with anyone? And if you already pay your own, you will have more money to pay it with."
So how would McCain pay for this by taxing people's benefits when that obviously does not match up with the tax credit he will be handing the same people, to say nothing of the people who are not having their employer benefits taxed?
"And how is this socialism?"
Over and over again right wingers told us it was wrong to tax one set of people to provide for another. McCain is taxing people with employer health benefits to pay for his health tax credit.
"you receive value from your employer wor working, and you are taxed on it. Now you have a tax credit against that to buy the policy that suits you best. More choice in the marketplace."
Exactly, McCain wants me to leave my better coverage thru my employer to get crappy coverage on my own because I only get $2500 to pay for it when my benefits currently stand at over $4000. mcCain is not going to give me a tax credit to remain in my employers system, the credit is if I go an get my own.
However if I stay with my employer's system, I will be taxed.
Are you really contending that John McCain wants to tax my health benefits to pay for a health credit to me that exceeds what he taxed me in the first place?

I'm a little confused here. We are supposed to be terrifed of Obama because he may lead America to a health care system which every major power in the world uses.
We are supposed to be afraid of Obama because he is suspected of not being crazy enough about Israel - but Israel has always had socialized medicine. So what in the world are we doing negotiating with that socialist country, Mr. Tapper?

Ryan C:
"Do you have any idea what our budget deficit is? our national debt? The effect of these things on the dollar? "
so you think that raising taxes will stimulate growth? businesses will struggle more, employ less, cut investment, and thus less profit to be taxed in the end anyway.
oh so i guess you think spending will help our budget deficit?
did i hear that right?

And you want to tell us about the West Side of Manhattan? Lots of Iraqi vets and Joe the Plumbers? WHat a cheap shot. How about Tribeca? Soho?
The south side of Chicago is home to the biggest black population in the country. Your voting registrar seems a little lackng - and very, very biased. Do all those regular black working class and middle class voters not count?

Sammy; I agree, unfortunately...one of the many reasons why I am an independent since 1996. Bad side of that is I can't vote in the primarys in my State, but it is better than pledging allegiance to a political party I have a hard time with (both Repubs and Demos). My apoligies.
