AP Reports that Obama's Aunt is in the U.S. Illegally
November 01, 2008 3:19 AM
Zeituni Onyango, Sen. Barack Obama's long-lost half-aunt who was discovered living in public housing in Boston earlier this week, is in the U.S. illegally, the Associated Press reported Friday.
The Obama campaign, which has generally refused to comment on any of Obama's myriad half-siblings scattered throughout the globe, has generally refused to comment on Onyango though the campaign did confirm to the Times of London for its Saturday edition that she is Obama's father's half-sister.
Earlier this week the Times of London and the Boston Globe found the woman referred to in Obama's memoir "Dreams From My Father" as "Aunt Zeituni."
A person familiar with Onyango's immigration status told the AP Friday that she "was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request...Onyango's refusal to leave the country would represent an administrative, non-criminal violation of U.S. immigration law, meaning such cases are handled outside the criminal court system. Estimates vary, but many experts believe there are more than 10 million such immigrants in the United States.
A searchable database of campaign donations on the Huffington Post indicates that Onyango has given her nephew's presidential campaign $260 the Times reports that the donations she has given have been in small increments under $200 so by law they do not show up on Federal Election Commission reports.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., discloses donations of all amounts; he has criticized Obama for not disclosing all donations, saying such a process lends itself to illegal contributions, such as -- presumably -- Onyango's.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if McCain's advisers themselves were behind this timed release. They are throwing everything they can. And isn't it interesting that the same people who are up in arms about ILLEGAL aliens are the same people who lap up the ILLEGAL release of information like this, with the obvious intent of influencing, thus illicitly, a US presidential election. Reports say that "someone close to the case, who requested anonymity because no one is authorized to talk about it" is informing the press on this matter.

The most liberal member of the Senate will never be able to "find comon ground" with real Americans.
He will tear this country apart, if elected....and with
ACORN and the liberal media's help, I think he will be.

Obama is Unaware his Aunt is here illegally. His pastor is Unaware he is a anti-American Racist. His freind is Unaware he is a TERRORIST, His wife is Unaware she hates America. The list goes on. Obama is a discusting Marxist, and the worst candidate ever in American political history.

This story would not made news if the Republican's were not afraid of losing. This is a desperate attempt to make something out of nothing. Zeituni donated $260 to Obama's campaign that is less than the cost of the underwear Palin wears that tax payers paid for.
This story is pathetic. However, it makes me more determined to vote for Obama because he has shown in spite of all the stupid crap that narrow minded peole dish out that he can remain repectful, non-judgmental and still handle his business. You go Obama!

The first amendment guarantees all Republicans the right to lie. Shame on McCain and Bush for timing this leak. Just more gutter politics, I'm sick of it. Obama graciously said Palin's pregnant daughter is a 'private family matter.' If only John McCain had a shread of integrity left....

Let me explain as clearly as I can: when a Republican lies, it is NOT A LIE. When the reporters don't report Republican lies as FACT, they are BIASED. When the press calls a Republican's lie a lie, that VIOLATES the Republican's first amendment right to free speech. Anyone who disagrees with something a Republican says is a godless, anti-American socialist marxist freedom-hater who should be INVESTIGATED.

Four more years of the same, vote John Mcain!

Pretend our economy isn't failin', vote McCain/Palin!

Sarah Palin's unwed, pregnant teenage daughter is a private family matter. John McCain's brother, who broke the law by calling 911 to complain about traffic and then cursed the operator, is irrelevant. But Senator Obama's aunt is FAIR GAME. That's because when it's the family of a republican, it should remain private, but a Democrat's family is fair game.

It's people like Obama and the commenter on this blog .. Siddat Madimbe.. who scare the crap out of me. He wrote "president of the world?" this is a preview of what Obama wants... To rule the world.
Obama, go find another planet to implement your socialist agenda. Not the United States of America.

What is most scary to me about this is the amount of detail on these reports, with Huff Post even including a map of your address. That's just nuts considering the ID theft and other abuses that could be done with such information.
Not only would this open you up to loads of junk mail (political and others) but someone could even create a list of donors and start purging voter lists from the opposing party.
Scary stuff.

Elizabeth, Yes, I have listened to Palin and McCain-- very carefully-- as well as to Biden and Obama. You actually wrote: "They are promising everything but Fort Knox, all talk and NO ACTION!!" I swear, that line had me rolling with laughter. It is Obama who has absolutely no record of accomplishment to back up his promises. John McCain has delivered on his promises in the past and will do so this time as well. And it is the Democratic ticket who have promised voters the world-- see, for example, Jake Tapper's long list of promises compiled from Obama's stump speech. Independent fact check groups have said that Obama has proposed more spending and has not demonstrated an ability to fund that spending, which will result in a much higher deficit than we already have.
You spell out those promises: "they will lower the taxes, double the child tax deduction, cut the capital gains tax, give tax cuts to the small businesses, education, healthcare, save your homes from foreclosure, etc. people are falling for this line of baloney, where are they going to get their money from, sounds like double the Obama proposal, yet they stand there criticizing Sen. Obama for actually speaking truthfully to the people." These are not expensive promises, Elizabeth. The reduction in taxes, history has shown, usually results in an increase in tax revenue, esp. with capital gains tax cuts. The mortgage plan is already funded with the 700 billion rescue plan. And who on earth still believes that Obama speaks "truthfully" to the people? When he says he won't raise taxes for those making less than 250,000? Or when he says he won't raise taxes for those making less than 200,000 (his latest ad)? Or maybe the truth is when his running mate says less than 150,000?
In your opinion, "Sen. Obama's plan is socialism and welfare so says Palin and McCain. And their plan is spreading opportunity, they are spreading it alright if you believe this BS, it's right up there with that bridge to nowhere because that is exactly what they are spreading, Lies to Nowhere."
What do you call taking money from the people who create jobs and giving it to people who do not pay income taxes? That's not a progressive tax system (which Republicans support), that's a wealth transfer system. It is not designed to stimulate business activity (as the McCain tax cuts are) or to raise government revenue. (And since you brought it up, did you see that Perspective piece in Newsweek this week by the mayor of the town involved in the "bridge to nowhere"? Gave me second thoughts. But McCain opposed the bridge, and all such earmarks, and will do so as president as well)
Then, in a complete nonsequitur, you added: "Also, please tell Palin and
McCain that if we have won the war in Iraq, leave. What are you still there for. What kind of a war is a war almost won?" We are still there because we are needed, according to both the american generals and the iraqi leaders, to provide stability. We will withdraw the rest of our troops when the Iraqi and Americans agree that they are ready for us to do so. We are planning for that contingency at the moment. But we must not withdraw precipitously, no matter what Sen. Obama thinks. As McCain says, we will come home but we will come home with victory, not prematurely.

Elizabeth Floyd,
Did you read the statement by Wendy Button (Obama's speech writer so fed up with him she quit and is voting Mccain/ Palin?
Please do not form an opinion for debate, based on what you don't know.
Wendy Button said:

But thank God for election 2008. We can talk about the wardrobe and make-up even though most people don’t understand the details about Senator Obama’s plan with Iraq. When he says, “all combat troops,” he’s not talking about all troops—it leaves a residual force of as large as 55,000 indefinitely. That’s not ending the war; that’s half a war.[quote]

First, Joe the unlicensed plumber!!! Becomes Joe the famous plumber on his way to Congress. Now, not a whole aunt, but a half-aunt, at the eleventh hour, what next? Send her home if that's the problem and while we are doing that check to see why the Rupublican presidential candidate is calling his supporters, "my fellow prisoners". There may be more serious issues to worry about!!!!!!!!

moderate,
The "vote McCain use your brain " thing is one I haven't heard before. Just curious, do you remember when the use of subliminals on National Television laws were put in place?
Some people have discussed the use of Subliminals in the Obama channels content on the net.
If the early voters who drank the koolaide,( not understanding that it may have content they were not aware it contained), can they recover and use the brain again?

Common Sense, you responded to a previous post from me by saying, "So moderate recognizes the two extremes of the republican party, the rich and the poor. This election is about the middle." No, hon, I was simply responding to someone's simplistic stereotype of Republicans (ignorant redneck poor, thanks Mr. Murtha) by countering with the other stereotype (rich and spoiled) and joking that we can't be both. Actually, the Republican party is a diverse one with people of all economic circumstances-- most of us, like most of America, consider ourselves middle class.
You suggested that "We don't want to be further pushed into poordom by supporting welfare/socialism/tax breaks for the rich." And yet you plan to vote for Obama? You'll get to the poorhouse faster that way than by voting for McCain, who plans to cut federal spending and not raise ANYONE's taxes. If you want to argue that not raising a successful small business owner's taxes in a recession is 'welfare for the rich,' I can't stop you, but that is not a characterization with which I can agree. Speaking as a small business owner who knows lots of other small business owners, I can tell you that we will be able to continue to employ the majority of America's workers and to grow our businesses and to compensate our workers well under John McCain, but under Barack Obama, there will be economic contraction, layoffs, and a financial mess.

"living in Toledo"-- still attacking your neighbor Joe and carrying the Obama water? You wrote of Joe the Plumber, "Joe the plumber may not have been a plant by the campaign, but he was there to confront Obama and try to make news and show off for his buddies." Give me a break. Thankyou for acknowledging the man was not a "campaign plant" as many still insist. Then you spoil it all with "but he was there to confront..." The man was tossing a football in his own front yard. A national candidate showed up unannounced in his neighborhood, so he went over and asked the candidate a question. That's how the system is supposed to work-- we get to vet the candidates. You can ascribe whatever motives to Joe that you want, but #1, you have no evidence of his motives. I tend to believe his own version of why he asked the question, and #2, far more important, the question and its poser does not matter nearly so much as the answer. If Joe the Plumber had asked an innocuous question like "why are you so fabulous" and gotten a smarmy answer like "no, no, it's you who are fabulous. You are the change you've been waiting for," no one would have ever heard of Joe outside his neighborhood.
Then you continued, "Once the McCaign camp caught sight of Joe confronting Obama and listening to his crazy politics, they took advantage of the situation." His politics are hardly crazy. Yes, the McCain camp capitalized, as they should have. They recognized that the message they had been trying to present was breaking through more effectively when it was linked with a common person who shared it, that Joe resonated for many who heard about the incident. McCain is a wealthy man, as is Obama. Obama's side had effectively been focusing on mcCain's multiple homes (see, both sides seize on the small moments--that's how its done) to undercut the message by focusing on the messenger and implying that wealth made him insensitive to those who did not share his economic status (although we are to believe that Obama is somehow immune to this insensitivity). Joe the Plumber put a face to the differences between the Democrat and Republican tax plans.
" What they didn't bargain for was the hate Joe would inspire." No kidding! I am amazed at the hate spewed at Joe by folks like you, just because he holds different views than you did, questioned The One, and then would not back down from his views even in the face of an onslaught of abuse. Don't worry about Joe, however. For every hater, there is a legion of supporters who relate to him and appreciate him.
Then you expand your vitriol to others who have campaigned in Ohio of late: "And the socialist ideals are falling short. Even Arnold looked lame during his speech in Columbus. I had to raise taxes to spread the wealth around, but Obama's a socialist.Good God how low will they go?" Yes, social ideals will fall short. I don't think that means what you think that means, as they say i the Princess Bride. Arnold hardly looked lame. There is a difference between having a progressive tax system, which we Republicans support completely, and having a philosophy of using the tax code to 'spread the wealth.' Remember when Obama acknowledged in a primary debate that his plan to raise capital gains taxes would not in fact raise more revenue, and he said that didn't matter, because it would be "more fair." Taxes should equitably raise revenue for the government-- period. Rich should pay more than poor. That is not what Obama's plan is all about. He feels as an add-on to that, the rich should pay much more, even if it cripples the economy, in order to allow him to send checks to those who pay nothing, in a transfer of wealth I find troubling and unnecessary. And Arnold, and the mcCain campaign generally, does not call Obama a socialist. They contend that his tax plan is based on a socialist idea. Not the same thing.
You conclude with a personal anecdote, claiming your Republican parents are "My republican parents are humiliated by the crapola spewed forth by the party they've supported their whole adult lives." So I'll match you with my true story that balances that out-- my life-long Democrat parents, who despair to think they have raised a Republican child somehow, are ashamed of how Obama has risen to power with no accomplishments by making empty promises. They refuse to vote for an empty suit they consider a danger on the world stage (his tax plan? They have no problem with that. *G*) So they are debating whether they can vote for McCain or if they will simply not mark their ballots for a presidential candidate, for the first time in their lives.
"This is truly the sadist election I've ever seen." Who you callin' a sadist, Willis? *G*
Use your brain/Vote McCain

Just more fodder for the FOX News and Drudge types to hyperventilate over while the rest of America does the right thing and puts Obama-Biden in the White House.

Wrong.
He hasn't been inaugurated and faces impeachment for lies to Illinois Bar if he is.
Press abused their Consitutional rights by opinioning a candidate to elevate into the ballot.
By the way Raul Castro is on the ballot as well... read it.
This lesson is learned , because said candidate disallows "freedom of the Press" and flings them from his jet plane if they ask.
The outcome of the Press abuses, who didn't offer up all the facts, actually now scares the beans out of em.
The fun is set to be over, and news will not be allowed at all.How soon?
Try to find the pdf of Obama's application to the Indonesian school that lists his religion as Islam. It was everywhere on the net, but now google will not let you open it.
If you downloaded the thing, PRINT IT OUT NOW!!!!
Suppression of information is just a start.
The printed word will be the only method soon, and that will be if they can hide the paper presses from the Civilian National Security Forces.
CNSF is a scary power.
Why do we need it?
Press supression.
