Election Over, Ayers, Wright & Farrakhan Emerge
November 09, 2008 9:16 PM
In case you care…
"For nine months, I kept quiet," Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said today at Mosque Maryam in Chicago, "because I saw that the good words that I spoke about this beautiful young man" -- President-elect Obama -- "at our Saviours' Day convention and the way they were misused. I decided it would be better for me to just be quiet rather than be drawn into the controversy that was swirling around his pastor, Father Pfleger, and others."
"I feel freer today to say the things that are in my heart," said the controversial religious leader.
For a limited time Farrakhan's sermon can be viewed HERE.
Last week, Obama's former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright emerged to speak at Kingdom Life Christian Church sponsored by the Theological Education Institute of Hartford.
"The world doesn't know about my 41 years of ministry, or my writing of books, because it was all taken down to a 10-second sound bite that the media chose to show about a sermon that was delivered seven years ago," Wright said. "The media didn't care about the whole sermon and what it was about. They just used those 10 seconds and used it as a weapon of mass destruction against [Obama's] campaign."
And on election day, education professor William Ayers, a former member of the violent radical group the Weather Underground, gave an interview to the New Yorker's David Remnick.
Ayers told Remnick that he knew Obama only slightly: “I think my relationship with Obama was probably like that of thousands of others in Chicago and, like millions and millions of others, I wished I knew him better.” He described what happened to him as "Swift-boating."
“It’s all guilt by association,” Ayers said. “They made me into a cartoon character -- they threw me up onstage just to pummel me."
Ron Radosh takes issue with some of the assertions Ayers makes HERE.

People are commenting all the time lately, Obama this, Obama that, your going to regret ever electing him, all kinds of crap. Than they talk about who's going to run in 2012. Let me tell ya, you all might as well be thinking about 2016 or 2020 because with the attitude you now have, which is the same attitude that voted you out of office your going to have a hard time convincing the people you have any kind of reason to be given the opportunity to lead.
Remember something called the "contact for America", remember how that went over. Eight years of Bush and you really think the American people are going to turn around anytime soon. You might as well start thinking of a way to steal an election because your certainly not going to win one anytime soon.

These attempts at smears against Senator Obama from the daffy right wing didn't work during the election campaign and they won't work now.

Obama...not my president...not now....not ever!

Jake, the election is over. Can we move on? The majority of us do not have vote based on the perceived ideologies of the candidates. We are too busy surviving. Those of us over 70 are not easily scared off by fanatical demonizing on either side. We have seen too much. I am white, Catholic, female, still working full time because I can't afford to retire. I have loved this country, been overwhelmed with pride at its moments of greatness and hated some of the things it has done. That is part of being real. I voted for Obama because he is an intelligent, reflective thinker who challenges us to be just, generous, compassionate and collaborative with the rest of the planet. If McCain had won, I would have gotten over myself and supported him because this is my country.

I read this story yesterday, and I'm still reeling. I won't blame ABC and Jake for running it, but can't believe these 3 guys have the gall to come out like this.
Farrakhan - Not even worth a comment, based on his well-documented rants.
Ayers - It's time to pimp a reprint of an ill-timed book release from 2001? So, we should take him seriously? The sad thing is people will buy the book to a) see if he's as evil as Hannity, et al said...b) was a true crusader of justice as he proclaims...c) what his life on the run was like. Only in America.
Wright - Complains about his life's work being reduced to a caricature? Can someone please roll the tape of him in front of the National Press Corps this summer? Who made him act like a loon there?

Obama's komrade chickens were roosting behind the scenes the whole time? I'm shocked!

America....are you happy that you elected the most liberal, unexperienced, socialist politician in the U.S. to be president ?
All of the Obama lovers out there who make excuses for him regarding his past associations and the comments he has made about his desire for certain agendas.. you are totally delusional and YOU PEOPLE are the deranged ones..
America will get what they deserve. Obama will hand you payback for electing him president. America will never be the same again.
Wait and see.

These bullroar leftist radical smears about Senator Obama from the extremist right wing didn't work during the election campaign and they won't work now.

*BUCK ROGER - from a prev. post..
"The top four taxpayers had a combined income of $69 billion, more than some countries make, in the year 2000. These individuals were on the receiving end of tax cuts in 2001, 2002, and 2003. The wealthiest .2% (about 250,000 households) saved almost $35 billion dollars in taxes. The top 20% of Americans saved just over $200 billion each year in taxes.."
THIS is the legacy of Reagen; trickle down economics are responsible for the liquidation of our manufacturing sector, loss of middle class jobs which sustained a nation, and the continued loss of real income by America's workers - the finance industry doesn't employ people with HS educations, however Walmart and McDonald's are doing great you'll notice - Obama has his work cut out for him, and yeah, he may fail - however, are we supposed to put the future of our country in the hands of the party which had it's hand on the tiller during the Great Depression, the Saving & Loan bailout of 1989, AND the current economic disaster?? Three for three?!? As far as tax hikes, borrowing money from foreign banks to fund tax "cuts" for millionaires is the GOP's legacy to today's working families - who do you think is going to pay for socializing our banks, the French? once again, the american people have to bail out another REPUBLICAN President..

Radosh also, upon the death of Studs Terkel called him a communist: "To be completely accurate, Terkel should be seen as the quintessential representative of Popular Front communism, circa mid 1940’s through the current era." Terkel is a man who wrote accurate and moving books about working men and women in America - and a beautiful book about older people looking back on their friendships and their lives. Not commies. Construction workers. Nurses. Delivery men. My 94-year old mother, who was about as far from a communist as you could get, loved them.
But it would be nicer if he would give us a little introduction to the people he quotes. Only a few days in the press corps - and his bias is already tranparent. I like that. It makes it a lot easier to understand why someone would still be writing about Bill Ayers. Jake, I hate to break it to you, but neoconservatism is dead. It would make people very happy - if those of us without trust funds were not going to pay for their mistakes for the rest of our lives. Do you also believe that the war ended in Iraq with Mission Accomplished? Or have you forgotten the war? The ones the neocons brought us?

Bill Ayers has been acting as an advisor to Obama all throughout his campaign. The Obamas have been speaking with Ayers and Dohrn several times a week. This whole story about how they're not friends, they don't "pal around" is crap. They've been palling around for 20 years and it's not going to stop now. Ayers will continue to be an Obama advisor even after Obama's inauguration

re: '58 million people stood against Obama_Biden should serve as a strong testament of support for the McCain-Palin camp and for American values."
McCain's & Palin's 'American values' were rejected by the majority..... ie: They Lost!
it's that kind of 'holier than thou' Americana that also insured their loss. Most of the folks claiming to be 'experts on American values' wouldn't know them if they saw them tatooed on their foreheads.
The more you devise a divisive political party based on self assumed moral and political superiority, the more you guarantee your future losses.

Can we get over the culture wars?
So far as I can tell, there's not a dime's worth of difference between Wright, Farrakhan, Ayers, Hagee, Falwell, Robertson, and Palin's pastor. Whatever their starting point on the "political spectrum," they've all ended up as "agents of intolerance" who are absolutely certain that they're right and that God's on their side.
Lincoln said, "I don't claim that God's on my side. Rather I pray that I'm on his." Humility and self reflection tend to rub the sharp edges off of the political extremities. This country could use some more of it.

President-elect Barack Obama comes away from Election Day with a 68% "favorable rating," the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows. That's up from 62% who said they think favorably of him just before the election.
Posted by: pefros | Nov 10, 2008 5:50:51 PM
I don't think Bush-bashing would have been a smart way to win elections. The major factors which tilted the election included: a bad economy and the damage done by the media in not being neutral. Further, the McCain campaign should have been little more aggressive and consistent in telling what they stand for while exposing the other candidate for who they rally are! Considering such a backdrop, the fact that 58 million people stood against Obama_Biden should serve as a strong testament of support for the McCain-Palin camp and for American values.
John.
