Get Well Soon, Attorney General Mukasey

November 21, 2008 11:36 AM

It may be worth pointing out that Attorney General Michael Mukasey is the third Bush Attorney General in a row to have a serious health episode.

In March 2004, then-Attorney General John Ashcroft was rushed to the hospital to have emergency gallbladder surgery (You may recall the dramatic hospital scene where White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales and White House chief of staff, Andrew Card -- objecting to deputy AG Jim Comey's refusal to reauthorize Bush's domestic surveillance program -- stormed into Ashcroft's hospital room to see if they could persuade the ailing AG to sign off).

Then of course, during the US Attorney controversy, Attorney General Gonzales appeared to have had a debilitating case of amnesia.

One ultimately fatal to his career in Washington, DC, at any rate.

Yeah, working hard to justify violating the Constitution and breaking the law eventually takes its toll. As it should. Will Mukasey take this as a sign? I won't hold my breath.

VERY WITTY, Mr. Jake!

Isn't it great to be getting rid of all these incompetent cronies?

Come Jake, instead of referring back to the US Attorney "scandal" as you call it, how about reporting that some of those US Attorneys were fired (like in NM) for their refusal to prioritize Voter Fraud in their cases. Gee, after what we experienced with your friends ACORN on Nov 4th and leading up to Nov 4th, wouldn't it have been nice to know our Government is on top of prosecuting those people that would prevent us from having clean elections? No, that's not the way you guys in the media think unfortunately. When Obama fires Patrick Fitzgerald do you think we'll even get a main stream story on it?

Maybe it's the tsuris associated with the AG job itself that's causing all the health problems?

There is working, but in the case of the AG, it is working the person into the ground almost literly. I do not know the inner working of the department but it is very very clear that there is a most urgent need to share more work at the top. What aren't the assistants and deputies doing? Of course it could be the fault of the AG in keeping to much to close to the vest.
