Hillary on Track for Nomination After Thanksgiving
November 20, 2008 10:37 PM
ABC News can report that former President Bill Clinton's financial disclosure issues that once seemed an obstacle to Sen. Hillary Clinton's appointment as secretary of state have been worked out.
An aide to President-elect Obama says that everything is on track for Clinton's nomination to be the nation's top diplomat, though an announcement will not come until after Thanksgiving.
The aide tells ABC News that no national security announcements will likely come until after that holiday.
Hillary Clinton and Obama, once fierce primary rivals, first spoke face to face about her serving in Obama's Cabinet last week in Chicago. The aide said they have since had other discussions about what they both hope for her to achieve in that post.
The complex web of international business dealings involved with Mr. Clinton's personal business, his presidential library and his charitable endeavors through the Clinton Foundation, had created complications and possible conflicts of interest for his wife. But the Obama and Clinton teams, negotiating with many former officials of the Clinton White House -- such as David Kendall, John Podesta and Cheryl Mills -- have reached an agreement.
Other announcements -- perhaps ones related to Obama's economic team -- may come before the holiday.

This is a perfect match.
Obama : No integrity.
Clinton : No integrity.
Obama : No character.
Clinton : No character.
Obama : Absolutely unqualified to run the country.
Clinton : Absolutely unqualified to run the state department.
This pick is a no brainer.

PEBO needs to keep the Clintons out of his cabinet and as far away from the White House as possible. The fact that PEBO won the presidency would only be viewed as minor hiccup by the Clinton camp and their power base in Washington in exerting their influence and agenda regarding foreign relations.

Obama should have selected John Kerry.
Hillary and Barack are NOT on the same page and who the hell needs Bill hanging around?

The SoS is fourth in the line of succession for President of the U.S. Not to mention Hilary would be in a perfect position to run for President in the future after all, compared to Biden she's a youngster. If she gets the appointment, Clinton fans should rejoice.

Gabriel,
I have sympathy for anyone who is represented in the legislature (Federal or State) by someone seeking reelection or running for a new office because their energies are focused almost solely on their campaign. But as we have seen in the extreme cases of Obama and Clinton, they've been running for President for the past two years. I feel your pain.

In the past, when I have posted on this site indicating that I was going to support Obama, Hillary supports accused me of drinking "the Kool-Aid" -ad nauseum. Now, when I see her supporters for SoS - it's always the same worn-out mantras and sound-bites. You people don't even recognize the substance of "Kool-Aid" when you see it. It's easy for me to see why you all think see's brilliant.

And you thought you were going to get "Change". You haven't seen anything yet! I think we already have some Obama supporters with buyers remorse.

Will someone who is a Hillary fan please tell me what she has accomplished since she's been a senator? Hillary fans keep saying how great she is. I'm a Western New York resident and she hasn't done anything significant to help our plight. She promised 200,000 new jobs when she first ran for the Senate. When she couldn't deliver, she said it was because Al Gore didn't win the presidency. Since she became our senator, many businesses have either closed or re-located to another state. We've lost a significant amount of our population due to high taxes and lack of good paying jobs. She has done nothing for us in WNY except save an Air Force base in Niagara Falls, a facility her husband put in jeopardy when he ordered base closings. This carpetbagger did squat, yet you think she's so wonderful. List her great accomplishments as a senator and please, no exaggerations or excuses.

This is great news. We are finally getting some intelligent people back to run our country after four dark years during which a miscreant and his neocon parasites occupied - and soiled our White House and our Constitution.

Poeople should stop and let Obama makes his choice. I think Hillary is his best choice for picking the Secratary of State. No question or bias about it.

Hillary should say "No Thanks!" I mean let's be honest it is an insult after everything that has transended.

Hillary SOS? Where there is Hillary, there is DRAMA! I guess the sore loser who waited days after she lost in the primary's to conceed to Obama's victory now gets a prize from their own Party. This grid lock from these two parties will continue until people wake up and see that both of these parties "suck".

Is Hillary goint answer question about Travelgate, Whitewater, Lewinskygate, etc., finally, during the Senate Confirmation Hearings? Amazing. None of us with her background could even pass the top secret clearance that's required for such a position. Oh, Obama! I thought you had a mind of your own!! Independent thought. You've sold out to Billary! They are really pulling your strings. How sad.

Mariann Pepitone: Bill Clinton was a great president and Obama chose his people so he would learn politics and foreign policy. Better to choose experienced people than not. I didn't vote for him but I am glad he chose Hillary for the secretary of state. She is a smart woman and knows politics inside out.

Mariann??? Is everything alright? :) I am glad that you have come to realize that although we can question our elected officials,we should all rally behind and support them. I sincerely thank you and welcome you!
Hillary Clinton!!! Excellent choice!!!!

Obama for CHANGE! Obviously NOT! A old democratic party, Tammeny Hall return to Clintonian Cronyism. Obama must be completely unaware how HRC goes after rivals. Consider also what she's done for her district, $$ for her direct supporters, Zilch for everyone else. Which is why all of my siblings who lived there have moved!
