To all of you who believe that President Obama is endorsing communism can take a look at his background. He is a very intelligent man who graduated from Harvard and Columbia University. He also taught at the Chicago Law School. I firmly believe that his views on communism are anything but good. Let me remind you that being liberal is NOT the same as being a communist!

Lilly:
Go ahead and continue trying to overlook the Republicans GROSS overspending.
Five hundred billion dollars in overspending for 4 straight years.
REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT
$421 Billion OVER BUDGET (2002)
$555 Billion OVER BUDGET (2003)
$596 Billion OVER BUDGET (2004)
$554 Billion OVER BUDGET (2005)
$574 Billion OVER BUDGET (2006)
That's how the Republicans ran the government.
You have no legitimacy criticizing anyone about overspending, and your name calling is juvenile.

Lilly:
Maybe $500,000,000,000 (FIVE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS) of overspending by the Republicans is 'chump change' to you.
Most of the rest of the country is smart enough to understand this was GROSS overspending on the part of the Republicans.
Teach us how to belly up to the trough; your Republicans set new records for overspending. We'll just follow your example.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I didn't say it was "chump change" your messiah did. He can "keep the change".
You don't have to be taught how to "belly up to the trough" you just have to be pointed toward it. A giveaway trough is just what your messiah is planning for you folks.

I don't remember how many rallies Oprah attended, but her presence at the South Carolina rally was HUGE in encouraging voters to support Barack-55% (33 delegates) versus Hillary-27% (12 del.) or Edwards-18% (0 del.).

Dear Wilma
If you're wondering why your taxes might go up . ..
During 6 years of Republican power over the White House, Congress and the Senate (2001-2006). . . they rang up RECORD government DEFICITS and record government debt.
Five hundred billion dollars of deficit EACH YEAR for four of those years.!
%500,000,000,000 per year - of government OVERSPENDING by the Republicans!
Where did they think the money was going to come from? The moon?
AND the Republicans had the nerve during the campaign to blackball the Democrats as "TAX and SPENDERS".
No wonder they got booted out of power.

People do what Oprah tells them to do. What fools.

Remaining Republicans and the 'far right' will do everything they can to inhibit progress in the Obama administration. I would hope that they would at least wait and see what Obama actually tries to do, but, in my heart I know they won't.
Republicans are reduced to many states that are sparsely populated. Obama & Dems will have to reach out to 'them' but I fear no matter what the Dems say...... it will be a hard sell.
After all this time of 'demonizing' Obama, Republicans will not change their tune quickly if at all.
If Obama is able to make a dent in the damage left by Bush & Cheney & Republicans, he will still hear the smears and invective of the far right.
Republicans have been good at winning, but, pretty lousy at actually governing.

Let me put it this way: Oprah was standing in the crowd looking up at the stage in Chicago Tuesday night along with everyone else.
Obama is (I think) going to make clear to anyone comming with his/her hand out that he does not owen anyone anything.

You're kidding, right? Is the news intimating that Barack Obama, with his obvious discipline and skill in managing a campaign, is beholden to Oprah for his victory? You're kidding, right?

Oprah Sells
yeah, America is in such good shape after 6 years of Republicans...
you repubs killed yourselves with your hate

Why are we talking about Oprah? She made the conscious decision not to endorse him before the elections, and she chose not to have Palin on her show despite pressure to do so ... knowing the power that her celebrity wields, she just didn't want to unduly influence the election, and rightly so. So in my opinion, nothing is owed and nothing should be expected.

Before the election, one of the right wing nut radio talk show hosts claimed to have seen a "communist flag" on the dais behind Senator Obama. Turned out to be the State Flag of Ohio.
Wasn't aware that there's a communist flag. Thought the hammer and sickle bit the dust with the break up of the USSR.
Can we move one now?

I don't think recommending a President is like recommending a book or a sorbet. Trusting someone's opinion on a book does not mean trusting their opinion on the leader of the country.
I'm sure Oprah's support had a mostly positive impact, but was it significant enough to be the difference between winning or not? I don't think the case made in that report is convincing.
