Klain to Serve As Biden's Chief of Staff

November 13, 2008 8:55 AM

Democratic sources tell ABC News that Vice President-elect Joe Biden has tapped Ron Klain to be his White House chief of staff.

Klain served in that same role at the White House for Vice President Al Gore at the very end of the Clinton administration. He previously served under Biden as Chief Counsel of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee when Biden chaired that committee.

That Biden asked Klain to work for him was first reported Wednesday by Roll Call, but a Democratic source tells ABC News that the job has been a done deal since last week.

Klain may be best known as chief lawyer for Gore during the Florida recount in 2000; his role was later dramatically re-created by actor Kevin Spacey in the HBO movie "Recount."

The former Supreme Court clerk worked for O’Melveny & Myers and the investment firm Revolution.

Insider in Washington, work in Clinton administration, Harvard Law and Law review. Sounds like a broken record. Not sure ideas flow freely when one is surrounded by people who are just like them.

Stop whining people. In case you forget, the Clinton years were quite good for America. I think bringing back a successful team is a good thing. For those of you whining about change, the change was from the failed policies of the last 8 years if that change means going back to the successful previous 8 years then so be it!

Settle down, y'all. We have got to stop demonizing the legions of professional and intelligent people Clinton hired during his successful presidency. Obama is a different leader, with a different vision, and a definitely proven record of managing a competent and tight ship. While core democratic values are similar, it is a different world now, and the Obama team has done its homework.

Well media: I don't see any comments about how this does NOT represent the change that you all pushed on the American voter.

I guess that this blind eye will persist throughout the "chosen one's" term in office.

Does any of this sound like a game of pickup football to anyone else?

It must be really tough on the Obots with all the hate they spewed about Hillary and Bill in the primary and all the stuff about how this election was about change and Hill and Bill were part of the good ole boys. I could go into more detail, but we all remember the hate. I'm just really curious as to what Hill and Bill have on O that would make him do a complete turn around and put the Clinton admin back to work???????????????????

Is there anyone Obama IS NOT bringing back from the Clinton Staff?

Are we stuck in a "Dallas" script, you know the shower scene where Pam wakes up and Bobby is in the shower and the last year or so didn't happen! This time though it's real life and the Clinton staff is back and the first black president is taking office....whew, feels like a flashback.
