Obama on Thanksgiving: 'A New and Brighter Day Is Yet To Come'

What I wish for most right now is that Obama would take a break for one day. Just one day off of my tv set. Please, for the love of humanity. SHUT UP FOR 24 CONSECUTIVE HOURS... YOU NON STOP JABBERING FREAK!!!!

Yes our new president elect Barack Obama will be challenged to change the course this country is on. As a United States Army soldier I have 100% confidence in him to be honest and do the right thing.
I'm very proud to have him as my new Commander in Chief 20Jan08.
I however voted for the former CIC's G.H.Bush, G. W. Bush, B. Clinton and served under all of them with pride.
I'm old and this is about the future of America and the younger generations to come after me. There will be "A New and Brighter Day" yet to come. We as Americans by supporting Barack Obama can see to it that day is not to far from the present. We as US citizens have that instinct to pull together in a time of need.

Sitting down and shutting up isn't going to happen now, though I doubt that displaying antiObama merchandise is going to be tolerated by those whose cars are peppered with ancient antiBush stickers.

Your "truth" isn't everyone else's. Just continue to jeer and flaunt your 52 status and accuse those who speak out of being Rethuglicans and poor losers. It reveals a person who is just as inconsiderate, abusive and power-happy as any of the people now running the country.

Obama is temporary. And I'd wager that the "52" is dropping daily.

I hope you 48% percent people realize that the 52% percent that voted for OBAMA are tired of the inconsiderate bull we have put up with for 8 years. And since Mr. Obama IS the president elected by the people I wish you 48% would shut up at least for 4yrs. We put up with Bush Administration crap for 8 years and see where we are. Give the man a chance he hasn't even taken office yet.

These guys (Obama and Bush) really crack me up. They're twins. A new day is coming when you spit in the face of the privately owned, secretive, federal reserve.

Tell me how you will deal with a 10 trillion dollar increase in the money supply? Are they all too stupid to understand inflation? I think not... Have they not read about pre-WWII germany? What will they do when people flock to gold and silver because the dollar turns worthless...confiscate it and give it to the scum sucking government as payment for wise decisions? Try it partner!!! There are a lot decent, hard working, honest, people that will call you out.

Tell me how you will deal with deflation? How will you solve the problem of companies falling apart, main street stuck with a 330k mortgage while their job disappears, farmers not able to plant crops because they can't get moeny for seed and equipment. Food shortages and prices increases to boot.

Yeah, we haven't been attacked on home soil since after 911, but the whole world pretty much hated us (until Obama won, that is).

"Until obama won, that is", can I throw up. The only reason the world is happy about the election....they think he will knuckle under to them. And, I am not sure they aren't right. He promises everyone anything...go figure.

Obama is to be the next president. With that said we need to move on from there. As American citizens we should hold or elected officials accountable for actions and inactions. We should protect our constitution and our nation from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Some of those are in our congress now, some are on the courts. When laws are interpretted by feelings are what I think is best then our constituion is being harmed. I have spent many years defending this nation and will do so until my last breath. I do hope Obama does well and proves me wrong as nothing would please me more. Our nation's well-being depends on it. Barack, prove me wrong!!

There is always hope for us, yet it is hard to maintain hope when all you see is chaos errupting into your daily life in the great country.
BECAUSE:
1. The Government does not defend us against the invasion of illegal aliens.
2. The government is tilted toward helping the rich and influential, and even foreigners interests are often ahead of the common ordinary citizen.
3. The government spends money to bailout businesses who should be allowed to fail because they are poorly managed and organized.
4. Government taxation and federal policies have historically driven many firms off-shore, so our own people can't find jobs. Now the Government's studpid interference in the mortgage loan market has caused horrible damage to our stock market investments and IRA's. We're now poor and suffering.
5. Government sustains the teacher's union, and other unions which suck up immense expense education dollars, when a good education ought to be bought from the best provider, not exclusively just the failing public education system.
6. The Government does not protect us against predatory litigation by lawyers who distort the truth, and have caused an immense rise in health care costs just because of the legal industry.
7. No Government employee should ever be allowed to unionize.

If the government would invest in the people, uphold and defend the laws already on the books, we would start healing as a nation immediately, and widespread prosperity would return.
Seems very sad that Government people, who govern, live in such a vacuum of blindness they cannot see and understand the ones being governed are loosing the last shreds of hope everyday...

To "Obama IS America"

Obviously not accurate at all, given the ongoing divisiveness. But in keeping with "the King IS England" mentality. He is temporary. Something of a new nature, but temporary.

And I take offense at the inference that those who oppose your views are unread and ignorant of history. I have a collection of history books back to the first recorded societies. It's a fascination of mine. I understand the methods that Great Leaders use to control the masses. And that "For power and empire" (fascism) and "For your own good" (socialism) are exactly the same. I want to be ruled by neither.

What you consider to be "living right" is your own opinion. And you're welcome to live your life the way you want. Enjoy that freedom. Just don't take other people's freedoms away because you "know" they're living badly and need to be "set on the right path." That is the ultimate arrogance. I see that trait in Obama, as clearly as I see it in Bush, Cheney, and all the rest. The absolute certainty that what they believe is what everyone should believe. Not attractive on either side of "the aisle."

Ok..checking the facts...according to interviews with voters exiting the polls on election day, a HUGE percentage of Obama voters had no idea which party currently controlled congress. They didn't know who Obamas running mate was. They knew very little, if anything about Obamas policies. Basically, they didn't know what they were voting for. Most of them stated that they voted for Obama because they didn't like Bush. Although they couldn't give reasons for their dislike. The fact is...Obama got a huge number of uninformed votes. Too many people weren't voting the issues...they were voting for a "historic event". (ie...first black president) That is a fact no matter how you look at it.

I'm scared of Obama personally. I'm praying that he moves to the center and distances himself from these socialist left wingers. I'm afraid that with the leftists controlling congress and a leftist president, a lot of socialist policies are going to be put into place that will badly damage this country. All it takes is a look back at history to realize that socialism/communism has never worked. Every nation that has ever embraced it has ended up with a horribly poor and oppressed population.

Obamas supporters believe that he will be the best thing that has ever happened to this country. I hope they are right. Republican..Democrat..whatever..I'm an American...and I'm concerned for this country first and formost...I honestly hope that I'm wrong about Obama.

That being said, I have to agree the post from "Obama Is America" above. We as a people need to take action to improve our country. We're not supposed to be looking to the government to fix things. Our government is "For the people, By the people". We need to take our country back and start running it as a people like our Founding Fathers intended us to. We shouldn't be looking to Obama or Bush or any other president to take care of us. We're free Americans...and Freedom means being responsible for ourselves and not being dependent on the government.

seems I heard what these swaps and derivatives did was allow you to bet that these bundled mortgages were not going to be paid off. so anyone who saw the banks forced to stop red lining, saw the appraisers fudging and people not putting $ down, and not proving they had an income, could make a bet that this mess was going to crumble. and they had to put up very little money to make that bet. so a few people made billions on these bets when the banks paid off. the bail out just went to pay them off, and make a few billionaires. why we tax payers had to do this is beyond me? the banks should have said they didn't have the $ to pay. only people hurt would be a few billionaires. now us tax payers are suffering and the whole world economy. rather take the money and charter a new bank

So President-elect Barack Obama is absolutely correct that, 'A New and Brighter Day Is Yet To Come,' because the historical economic data proves it so. By comparison, this economic down turn is not the Great Depression by any measure. Most business cycles down turns, if not all, on average last only 18 months and so will be the case here as well.

The most critical problem with the financial meltdown, the credit crisis among banks is now fixed and working with plenty of cash on hand to loan. The rest of the business sectors that are hurting now may take up to 18 months to come back depending on consumer confidence.

I would not under-estimate the optimism, intelligence and labor of the American people, and look to see the biggest economic growth and expansion in world history to take place in the next ten years. After all, we are Americans.

Listen people, you can love or hate Obama all you want.

But the fact of the matter is that he is going to be our next President, whether or not you like it.

This country turning around has as much to do with the American people as it does with the President. If we don't change bad living, thinking, and spending happens, then change will not happen anyway.

So instead of bashing Obama and the people that support him and instead of saying you can't wait to sit back and watch everything fail blah blah blah, why don't you get off your butts and actually DO something to make the US better!

Eat healthier food and don't eat out as often!
Don't buy an SUV!
Conserve water and electricity!
Don't waste gas and spend as little on gas as you can!
Don't buy plastics needlessly!
Don't go into debt!
Read some books and educate yourself about the world, about history, and about everything you can so you can make INFORMED DECISIONS and have INFORMED opinions!

There are a million and one things to do that if each person did them, it would be better for the economy and the country as a whole.

Don't place all your doubts or hopes or whatever on the President, regardless of who the President is.

WE have to start being better!

The ones around the world don't live here and have him to be the President of a great country that will never be the same after he puts his unqualified hands on the control. Just because the percent was 52 doesn't mean the other 48 percent are not wrong about him. All the followers of Jim Jones were 100 percent behind him. So happy I am part of the 48%.

Barack Obama has set the bar too high and his supporters are expecting miracles in a very short period of time, but his greatest challenge is going to be lifting the tens of millions of inner-city voters out from a life of crime and poverty. African-Americans in particular have always felt that they were not represented and therefore, neglected. Now, one of their own is going to be President and Democrats will have overwhelming control of both the House and Senate...so expectations are that NOW they will expect their fortunes to be reversed. Unfortunately, their hopes and dreams will be crushed by the reality that government is not going to change their fortunes for them. There are some who will continue to work their way to a better life, but not much more than in years past. For almost all, their situation today will still exist in 2012. My only question is...will they continue to be the victims of the Democratic Party, or will they expand their political views? Telling people what they want to hear may get their attention and in the short-term may inspire them to initiate action; but over the long haul, they must see significant progress to sustain that movtivation...or they will fall into despair and quit. Barack Obama has achieved the initial inspiration part and he has the Congress in his hip pocket, but can he sustain that momentum as Republicans attempt to undermine him at home (like Democrats did to President Bush) and our enemies undermine us abroad? I think we are in for a long four years, but I hope I am wrong.

If hussein holds another press conference to announce his plans I'm going to vomit. When will this lying tool (he's already gone back on or repositioned himself on every campaign promise since he won) stop campaigning and realize he will have to make decisions and stand on his positions as a president. Yeah, he invaded the WRONG country and only stoked up resentment among Middle-Easters. I personally would be pretty angry if my family member got killed in a mis-targeted air-strike.

Anna, you suffer the same vices as the Bush administration. You're too damned confident about things that you know nothing about, but you only want to look at mirrors of your uninformed opinion. When hubris meets ignorance you get elitists: democrats and republicans.

Attention GOP puppets: read Tenet's newest book and Bob Baer's book to understand exactly what's wrong with our intelligence agency and what's right with it. If you are literate, honest, and have any firing neurons you would know the CIA lost its ways under REAGAN! And even then take the time to actually learn what the agency told the BUSH administration about Iraq and then think. I know it makes you uncomfortable, but your country needs your patriotism, not your chauvinism. You might began to answer the question about how "safe" we all are today, with an iota of fact.

Try cracking a book you don't want read with an open mind. Maybe the _Iraq study group report_? Don't worry its short. We were all born imperfect and will die imperfect, but unless you try to grow every day of your life you might as well be dead.
