Voted for Obama yesterday...3.5 hour line.

As a former Republican, I just want to say that the GOp let me down when the best they could come up with was Bush, born with a silver spoon and rode his daddy's coat tails his whole life.

With that aside, don't you Republicans realize that with every myth, (Obama is going to create a Gestapo police force, he is going to send checks to people that don't work, he is a socialist, communist, marxist, he didn't help his poor aunt, his poor aunt is an illegal who voted and is on welfare...ad nauseum, you just prove the point that you haven't done your homework, but people start looking for the truth and find out that 99.9% of it is lies and see what a great candidate he is.

Get out and vote!

Don't depend on someone else to vote for your candidate.

Don't trust the polls. Vote!

No sir, I don't know the source of the specific legislation you refer to, but republicans have been in charge for the last eight years. I will look up your assertions, this will take more time? Certainly, there is enough blame to go around. I have no real understanding of the world of the wealthy. In the trenches of life, business and government policies have real impact on workers. What I understand is that there is a constant push and pull between capitalism and social interventions in America. I went to wiki pedia for a quick review of capitalism and socialism. We are a capitalist country, with a social support system. I wasn't born in the 1930's, but I've seen and read about life in America before those social supports existed. Poverty then was deep and far reaching. Few finished grade school, or high school, or went to college, most food and work came from local farm labor. We didn’t live very long. Industrial jobs led to large migrations of people, for better lives. Only struggles between business and labor resulted in better lives. Modern deregulation has allowed capitalism to exceed reasonable business practices. Unreasonable business practices right now are abusing consumers, taking their homes, and exacting usury fees for services. In health care, some cost based decisions are a life and death matters. Average Americans are pushing back even if they don't know why. Americans know life is out of balance. The young are buying what they are being sold. I am not arguing for more social support. I am saying particularly deregulation has injured this country. We need a different point of view. It is time to modernize, reinvest, and invest in America, and in our children. I am born and raised in America. I love my country. I am arguing for common sense, respect, and citizenship. Just as the pendulum is shifting left because of government and business abuses, it will also shift back to the right. Obama is arguing for responsibility, common sense, sacrifice, and good citizenship. America is the greatest nation in the world. Our greatness will be preserved by educating our young, through personal and citizen responsibility. Obama’s plan for America is reasonable. Thank you for the challenge to think about what I believe and why? I’ll get back later on the other topic.

OBAMA, By LANDSLIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Richard | Nov 2, 2008 2:05:08 PM

Tim,

Just took a break to watch the last Formula 1 race of the season.

I see you haven't moved on.

You've had enough time to listen to Sarah drool over Nicolas Sarkosy.

What do you think?

Posted by: Paul New man | Nov 2, 2008 1:54:31 PM

bll: Do you know where the legislation that allowed this to happen came from? The original legislation was passed in 1977 during the Carter Administration, in 1993 the legislation was modified during the Clinton administration both facts are undeniable. Look at the information regarding home sales to low income borrower and you will see that it skyrocked in the 1990's. Lenders were coerced to make bad loans and willingly did so because these loans were bought up by the GSE's, Government Sponsored Corps. Lenders believed the loans were the governments problem and willingly made them, but they would not have and didn't previous to the passage of this legislation. I agree that the Republicans did little to cure the problem during the 90's and early 2000's. However since 2003 when it became apparent that the situation was unsustainable attempts to change the regulations were blocked by Democrats in the Senate.

Six of the 10 new national releases show nominal shifts to Obama and three show no change in margin since their last non-overlapping sample -- none show any improvement for McCain.

Is this the no tax crowd, the flat tax crowd, or the no progressive tax crowd?
Where are you folks coming from? Why are folks taking about socialism? We don't practice unchecked capitalism in America, do we? We have progressive taxation in America. Are you wanting to give up all your benefit packages? Are you giving up vacation, sick pay, child care, housing deductions ect.. Is your grandmother benefiting from social security or medicare? Under unchecked capitalism some succeed, while others fail. Failure to provide health care means death to some of our most vulnerable citizens. We in America decided that the children, old, sick, and disabled she not fail unto death, when they are unable to compete. Has that changed? Maybe the American people have changed their minds. Does anyone remember or have you read about poverty after the market crash in 1929? Do you know how people lived in America early in the century? Do you understand that deregulation killed the current market? Where do you think the money went? Lots of people lost lots of money. Who benefited from that money, real, and phony money? Without regulation capitalism unchecked leads to just what recently happened in the markets. Recent unchecked and unregulated greed, lead to American business failures the likes not seen since the great depression. So what are you saying. Hwant to understand. No regulations. No taxes, no change, what? More of the same. I think Barack Obama presents the case well for responsibility, reasoned regulation, business support in a challenged economic time, a strong defense, and educating our young for a successful future. I want to pay reasonable taxes, preserving business and opportunities for wealth, but do my part to advance the future of my country. Have you got a better idea?

Posted by: bll | Nov 2, 2008 1:05:33 PM

McCain will win and it won't be close.

I don't think the majority of Americans are dumb enough to put someone with Obama's radical worldview in the White House.

Posted by: riley | Nov 2, 2008 12:36:42 PM

Obama's aunt is a illegal immigrant living in public houseing and receiving welfare for 5 years. Now she voted for Obama. Why does he not sread his wealth to her instead of takeing your money....

Posted by: FRANNY | Nov 2, 2008 11:47:19 AM

Do as I say not as I do. The first tenet of a phoney. (Fact: Joe Biden has donated less than two tenths of one percent of his handsome income to charity over the last ten years.)

John McCain, on the other hand, says country first and has proved it in a way very few could ever do. I can't imagine putting myself through the sacrifice for country that he willingly put himself through. John and Cindy McCain believe in a adoption but it isn't just words -- they adopted a child. John McCain believes in working across tha aisle to get things done and has done so many countless times.

Yes, there is an inspirational candidate in this race. But it is not the one the media tells you it is. I'm voting for the candidate who inspires by being doer, not just by being a fancy orator

Did you know Obam's economic and social program is identical to the communist party usa. Go to their web sight and be shocked, The truth will set you free. The media has been bought out by Obama's 600 million dollar add buy. They sold out for a lie. That is why they are sinking. Wake up Obama wants a 150, ooo man national police force armed and equipped as well as the milatary. Brown shirts Gestapo secret police KGB, sounds familiar Wake up. I am a retired FBI counter terror agent. The justice dept is paralyzed by the racism charges when we question this.

new man...

"dont confuse tim with the facts" makes no sense. this is a matter of opinion, not whether it was factual or not. i believe it makes no difference on a persons vote, and apparently you do. nothing to do with facts.

Posted by: tim | Nov 2, 2008 12:01:11 PM

new man...

you're out to try to punk me on something, i realize that, but its not going to work! im just speaking the truth. if this call were made to obama, i would say the same thing. it was a pointless political agenda with humor. it should have no effect on a persons vote. why give it the time of day?!

Posted by: tim | Nov 2, 2008 11:58:17 AM

I am still stunned that a man who is a media creation (and it continues with being on the cover of the current GQ magazine) and has the most leftist voting record in the Senate (which he served in for less than a half year before starting his run for president) may be ruling this country in a few months. Meanwhile a man like John McCain (check out his amazing bio, folks) would lose to him. I wouldn't believe it if it were a book or movie, but here it may come to be.

But this thing isn't over yet, so lets not get ahead of ourselves. There is still time. Two full days for people to stop and think: Who is this guy, Obama?

Tha fat lady has not sung just yet. Any web search on President Dewey would tell you that.

tim,

"i didnt listen to it. what does it have to do with anything? it was a prank made to PUT HER IN A SITUATION THAT WOULD EMBARASS HER. that was its sole intention. a politcal agenda with humor. i dont care what she said, or sounded like. pointless."

How can you know if you don't listen. It's a real eye-opener. Unbelievable. It sounded like she was ready to polish the guys shoes or "lui tirer une pipe" as the French would say.

tim,

You didn't answer me about listening to the Palin prank telephone with Sarkosy.

Be truthful now.

Obama's Plan To Bankrupt New Coal Plants
This is another gem uncovered by Naked Emperor News. It's from an interview Obama gave to the San Francisco Chronicle in which he speaks of his approach to global warming and cap-and-trade systems. It's an approach I'm not sure the bitter gun clingers of Pennsylvania would appreciate

Posted by: Steave Cuozzo | Nov 2, 2008 11:49:32 AM

cheer up..

god bless you, but obama does have one thing in his "empty suit"... hope. so go ahead and go all in with a pair of deuces, maybe we'll get lucky.

Posted by: tim | Nov 2, 2008 11:49:30 AM

new man...

lol wow, thanks. what do you want to hear? i cnt stand obamas ideas. they are against what most americans believe. or used to believe anyways. i already told you that i hate the republican party. i cant stand that bush pushed for the ridiculous bailout. i think deregulation has hurt our economic sector. i think he was a puppet early on with decisions on the war. there are ALOT of things that i disagree with. why are you assuming that i am "pro mccain" so much?! honestly, im just saying that there isnt one thing obamas ideas that impress me. i think he's charming, thoughtful, a guy i would like to shoot some hoops with, but that dosent mae him a good leader to me. i know its a hate word lately, but his ideas are too socialist for me.
