Rahm Says Yes to WH CoS Job
November 06, 2008 12:50 PM
Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., has accepted the job of White House Chief of Staff in the Obama Administration, Obama sources tell ABC News.
In other Obamaland news, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., will hold a meeting with economic advisers tomorrow, likely in the morning, after which he will take some questions from reporters.
On Monday, President-elect Obama and his wife Michelle will visit President and First Lady Bush at the White House.

Forget Rahm Emanuel's stint with the Israeli Army. What disturbs me is that he is Howard Stern's first cousin. No kidding!

"WE NEED TO PRAY FOR OUR NEW PRESIDENT AND THE CHOSES HE MAKES"
Ok, I pray Obama doesn't tax me back to the stone age, I pray my kids don't have to sit in a soup line, I pray this country doesn't get bombed out of existence when our Glorious Leader decides to cut our military 25%, something tells me God is going to be awful busy the next 4 years!! Oh, I just saw "CHANGE" today, when I looked at my 401K.......Thanks

I love Obama, but I don't think Rahm was the best choice. He's just another rich greedy mean guy. Wasn't he on the board of Fannie Mae for a while? Didn't he work for some investment bank and make millions?

An article from 2006 raised speculation regarding a possible connection between Emanuel's Congressional election success and convicted former Chicago water department boss Don Tomczak.
USA Today reported in late January 2007 that Emanuel failed to disclose that he was an officer of a family charity, a violation of law requiring members of Congress to report non-profit leadership roles.'

Rahm Emmanuel is a centrist who will keep anyone from going too far off task. Sounds like a good choice to me. Obama will be inaugurated as the President of the United States of America---that's all of us, not some of us.

I have a question.
Does everyone from Texas put on a white sheet and white hood when the sun goes down?
Just wondering.

********************************
No SS there are a lot of nice non-ignorant people in Texas. The problem is that the ignorant/backward thinking majority somehow seems to be able to be a speaker box for the majority who embraces equality for all. How that happens, who knows but it is a extremely poor, poor representation of Texans today.

Great choice! We have a mandate to be aggressive this time around and there is a lot to do. In 2010 we'll have a super-majority in both houses. 2010 looks better than 2006 and 2008 combined!

ALL THE NEGATIVITY IS SO UNBECOMING, WE NEED TO PRAY FOR OUR NEW PRESIDENT AND THE CHOSES HE MAKES, AND TRUST GOD'S IN CONTROL OF IT ALL. ONE THING IS FOR SURE HE CAN'T DO ANY WORSE THAN WHAT WE HAD THE LAST 8 YEARS!!!

Me,
No, you are not the only one. But apparently we are not supposed to state opinions that do not reflect complete and utter support of every single move that Obama makes. That attitude concerns me. It was his associations, after all, that gave many people pause during the campaign. Now is the time to show that he truly does support a new brand of leadership and that he will brook no hint of inpropriety.
Let's hope the appointment of folks like Powell to imfluential positions will strike a more positive note.

Those people attended the same 6 colleges that Sarah Palin attended.

Of course the chief of staff is partisan - of all the appointments Obama will make, the one partisan you need is the chief of staff. Listen, the person I voted for four years ago didn't win; the person I voted for eight years ago didn't win. It's MY turn! We've seen what eight years in the WH and six years of a Republican congress has done to us. Let's try something different.

you're just jealous......get a life. It's apparent you don't have one.....

Rahm Emanuel is my Congressman. Recently, we had a flood in our neighborhood not seen in 100 years. An entire Chicago neighborhood was evacuated and the area was locked down. Neighbors lost their furnaces, clothing, and some lost their homes. Still, we had wonderful emergency services, including 24 hour police protection, our own firetruck, ambulance, and free tetanus shots, waste removal, etc. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate our city workers, the visits of Senator Durbin, Mayor Daley, and Rep. Emanuel.
It is no secret, especially here on Chicago's north side, that Congressman Emanuel doesn't mince words, or--shall we say--employ a certain determination in completing mission. But, we didn't hire him to be our nursemaid. We hired him to represent a richly diverse community, which includes families who have been here for over seventy years, as well as the newest of our city's immigrants. In my experience, he hasn't let us down. You might find his sense of tact lacking, but you cannot fault his toughness, nor his protective nature toward those he serves. Of that, I can assure you.

Ah, patriot, glad to see you have gotten into that bipartisan spirit Obama has promised us. obama and mccain are acting like adults-- some of their followers, however....
that being said, I do want to express disappointment at this appointment. Emmaneul is a natural for the obama white house and I expected him to have a position of some prominence. I have no problem with that. But COS is not the post for him. Think Jim Baker, Card, Podesta-- COS requires the sort of smooth, conciliatory guy they were. It requires finesse. Think West Wing, since that's a refernence most Democrats can understand. The firebrands were not the ones in the COS position.
I am referring to the patriot post that read: "The only people whining about Rahm's appointment are people like Joe Scarborough who are scared of the brass knuckles that are coming to the White House. Guess what? Obama wasn't elected to serve milk and cookies to GOP lawmakers. Americans have sent him to DC to get things done. If a few dead-ender Republicans get offended because of some straight talk and tough action, too bad."

John Boner GOP Leader Boehner is already crying and sniveling about this appointment. I don't blame Roy Blunt for stepping down. I wouldn't want to play nursemaid to Boehner either.

Rahm Emanual is the Democrat equivalent of Karl Rove. Let's see if the media savages him the way they did Karl....NOT!
