Rahm Says Yes to WH CoS Job

November 06, 2008 12:50 PM

Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., has accepted the job of White House Chief of Staff in the Obama Administration, Obama sources tell ABC News.

In other Obamaland news, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., will hold a meeting with economic advisers tomorrow, likely in the morning, after which he will take some questions from reporters.

On Monday, President-elect Obama and his wife Michelle will visit President and First Lady Bush at the White House.

ahhhh .... right wing crazies still alive and well...
xenophobes... stand up and be proud!

I am still enjoying hearing the republican whiners after their very substantial loss......

I like Rahm; he was one of the Clinton supporters who really cleaned house after she botched her exit from the campaign. He is pretty tough. I think he will help keep both democrats and republicans focused on solving the problems of today and be very loyal to Obama, which is essential to being a good chief of staff.

This appointment is really a move toward pre-empting a possible run away majority democratic house and senate.

Go Obama! Excellent judgement!

Barack Obama is keenly aware of the magnitude of the tasks that await him. That's why we need someone with such a calm disposition. A lesser person would panic.

But it's not up to him alone, or even the Democrats alone, or even Washington alone.

We have to start governing again, folks. It's a tall order when just surviving is difficult, I know, but everyone should do whaever they can--however much that is--to get us out of the mess.

It's up to us, people.

Those complaining about the COS pick...dont know what the chief of staff does!! They are there to be the gatekeeper to the president and push the presidents agenda as much as they can...to get people on board in congress. He knows congress...he is tough...that is what the COS does. This is a great pick for OBAMA!! Not for Republicans looking for a handout from OBAMA. Republicans will have to meet in the middle!

CONFISCATING 401K, why do you care? If you have time to post a long post like that you and don't have a 401K or anything like this. You are probably 40 something living with your mother and still trying to find yourself. Let the people who have such savings worry about that, you try to get yourself together and at least get your GED. MAVERICK-

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that it's better if the people who want to blow you up are happy with you. Just sayin.

You know what this little experiment is like. It is like when we where all kids and the "cool" kid has a "keen" idea about playing with firecrackers or jumping a big ramp with his bike and everybody went along with it and said, "man, he is sooooo cool, this is gonna rock" instead at the end somebody alway ended up with a fingerblown off or somebody ended up in the hospital. That is what he is going to do to our country except the people getting hurt will be us and his followers will all take up for him. But man is he "cool".

Don't you just love the way that everyone with a computer and a partial brain has all the political answers all the time. How about stop wasting the time and band width that is provided to these know-nothings!

kathryn, where do you hear about Rahm's father?

Posted by: greg | Nov 6, 2008 1:14:23 PM

Don't you just love it when liberals can't handle the truth.

I invite all of you to look at the pic of the Iranian terrorist leader smiling and contratulating Obama.

I congratulate Mr. Obama on his victory.
It just surprises me that no one has mentioned the extreme cost of this campaign. Why hasn't anyone asked about this high price? With people out of work, homes foreclosed, mired in debt
and they spend all this money on an election. Some would think this was shameful.

Obama seems to be moving right along in choosing good people who want the same issues as he does. People should be starting to gain confidence in him...As for Chucks comment on Obama's laid back style... I have to disagree He may appear calm but a laid back person wouldn't already be choosing so many people.

Is anyone concerned that Rahm is the same guy named by ABC news as one of the top Congressional Democrats who was helping soon to be former Rep. Tim Mahoney hide his illicit affairs in order to help him get re-elected?

I can see the need for a tough, experienced gate-keeper, and hope that's what this is about more than an overly partisan approach. We'll see.

He's chosen the right person for the job. As usual. Trusting the wrong people was probably the biggest single mistake that President Bush made. Bush was ill advised and not astute enough to correct this as he went along. I doubt that Obama will make that mistake and will pick up on any poor judgements quickly and amend them.

Buyer's remorse you are a winner, I mean whiner.
