Rice Likely to UN for Obama (Susan, Not Condi)
November 24, 2008 2:25 PM
From Jake Tapper, George Stephanopoulos, and Martha Raddatz:
ABC News has learned that Dr. Susan Rice has emerged as the leading candidate to be President-elect Obama's nominee as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
Neither Dr. Rice nor the Obama Transition Team had any comment. The usual caveats apply -- nothing is yet a done deal, nothing has been officially offered or accepted, national security team announcements will not come until after Thanksgiving.
Dr. Rice, a member of President Bill Clinton's National Security Council and a former Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, was involved in President-elect Obama's campaign as a senior foreign policy adviser.
The former Rhodes Scholar in 2000 received the National Security Council's Samuel Nelson Drew Memorial Award for distinguished contributions to the formation of peaceful, cooperative relationships between nations, and U.S. security policy for global peace.

Don't forget Rice was instrumental in our losing Osama Bin Laden when we had a great chance to have him in our mitts!!!!
She was on a plane with an English lord and when a certain subject came up, she expounded on it like she had been there. When the englishman told her what REALLY happened, she informed him that she had done her desertation on that very subject and HE WAS WRONG. HE THEN INFORMED HER THAT HE WAS THE ONE WHO DID THE NEGOTIATING. Did she apologize? No. She again told him HE WAS WRONG!!!!
She is an arrogant, condescending b and should NOT be anywhere in the government!!!!

This PC & affirmative action incubus critical of Bush Darfur policy? And this coming from a clown who serenely had her wall-bangers during the Rwanda crisis?
Man, does the Democrats' shamelessness have a bottom? The Marianne Fosse, maybe?

I think the choice of Susan Rice is a disaster. she was Assistant Secretary of State for Africa and the time she was there she armed many African nations which resulted in wars, abject poverty and lost of hope. Also, should I mention that th Rwanda genocide occured on her watch and she didn't have any understanding of what was unfolding. Hopefully she will be just told what to do and her advice discarded.
I love the Obama team.

Greg Mortenson (Three Cups of Tea) who has been building schools in Afganistan and Pakistan for 15 years would be a pick for real change.

i think it was machevelli who said you can know how intelligent a leader is by the kind of people he surrounds himself with. i believe obama has choosen the right kind of people to save america from the mess it is in right now. more powers to his elbow but let nobody forget to pray for him. God help obama

True leadership is not judged by solo acts of brilliance in governance, but by the excellent team assembled by the leader which brings great revival to the nation and the economy.
Barack Obama has done just that with this 'hope team'. Revive and Restore the dead glory of America that was buried in the bush. I believe this odd team would do great things in these odd times.
Si se Puede!

How one can compare Ronald Reagan with our newly elected President is beyond me. To think that he is better because of what he has said, not done are unique indeed. Let's wait till he in President and see how the world turns. My prayers are with Obama and the ones he has chosen. I voted Republican but MY president is now Obama. May he do well for this nation. We need it!

un position
why is the US government hiring someone instead of using an US government employee. She is currently working thus this plan takes someone away from the workforce paying taxes and allows them government pay to party at this time it does not make sense in this time and age.
why not use the current employees instead of government employees. save money at home.

Where was ABC NBC CBS MSNBC and foxaganda when Bush was LYING our soldiers into a illegal attack? or where were they when Bush picked all of Daddy's people for his sidekicks like "Shooter"

Don't know much about Susan Rice, but I think Obama has made some excellent choices so far in his economic and cabinet teams. I like that he's wanting to start off with some action now, before the inaugural. I think Obama is going to be a h*** of a president! He's going to surprise the 46% who didn't vote for him. I pray for him, he has a formidable job, I can't imagine taking on what he's taking on. We'll have to wait and see if what he does helps this country get back into a healthy groove. Go Obama!

Probably the most effectively qualified person, so far, for Obama's Advisor on Environmental Affairs is Van Jones from West Oakland, California. His "Green Collar Economy" makes it quite clear that here is a man who has strong human and environmental sensitivities and a very realistic grasp of the enormous economic/employment possibilities that our current ecological crises offers this country, especially the youth of all colors. "How do you use the green economy to deliver work, wealth, and health for communities who have had too little of all three? How do you connect the people who most need work with the work that most needs to be done, and, if you do it right, beat pollution (unemployment) and poverty at the same time?" Van Jones

Hey you guys!
What's all this whinning about like a banshee. You guys voted him (Obama) to the presidency. gave him the ticket to pick his team. So back off!!! let him do his job. You need jobs? you need money in your wallet? Then let him pick his team and run the show.
Can imagine what it would be like duirng his tenure when you guys start to whine even before Obama begins his presidency.
Listen! you are blessed. you have guys like giether to advise and guide the President on his economic reforms. We are not so lucky. So count your blessings.
What's wrong if Obama picked ex-Clinton staff? after all isn't Clinton a Democrat? Hadn't he run a good race? It was not that bad as during Bush Jr's tenure.
His choice is good. SO give him breathing space and let him do the job you picked him for.
After his first innings.... if he has not proved, delivered or lived upto his promises.. then kick him out. But please give the guy an opportunity to prove himself and turn the economy around for the good of US and the world.

I'm so disappointed by this pick. She has zero warmth or charisma, and I've never seen her anything but ticked off. This is not the person to be the new face of our country when we're looking to mend fences and repair our relations with the rest of the world.

Freedom of expression is excellent - but folks in civilized society such as ours (the most advanced country on earth) must not abuse their right to free speech simply because one can hide behind a computer screen and insult other people.
It's ok to disagree, agree-to-disagree, etc - but don't write stuff that you would not have the courage to express to others face-to-face in a civil, public forum. Simply put - please be civil, polite and very respectful of others and the world would be a better place for all. Last but not least - most people who write uncivil comments are those who lack the basics of English language (majority cannot spell correctly, use proper diction or appropriate sentence construction. Please focus your attention on learning proper English instead of specializing in vulgar expressions. Thanks

Note to all you folks who ar so worried about the Clinton people that are being appointed by President Obama. Just remember THERE IS A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN AND HE WILL BE RUNNING THE SHOW. Shows he has good judgment to select experienced , depenable people to assist him. I am very pleased with his choices and his plans for creating new jobs. When have we seen another president so pre-prepared to take charge. This could be our best president ever.

If Hillary had not been chosen for Sec. of state, the story would have been, Obama owes Hillary BIG after all she had done for him after the primaries...
now that she is chosen, the story is, she is a bad choice????. Give obama a break, guys, and let him bring us change
through Hillary...
And by the way, Obama's presidency is change in itself as he (a) has ousted Bush and the republicans, and, (b) is the first black to become USA President. What more change are we looking for?.

There is an inordinate amount of prognosticating and nay-saying before the administration has even taken office. Let's see what happens. One thing I can say about most conservatives vs. liberals (I am neither) is that their science is assumption and they like to base their reality on emotion, the superficial, money and selfishness. Well, maybe that is just the current global mindset, but the 'Pubs are not too shy to show it. They espouse sociopathic actions and lying has become their religion. There is no way that Obama would trust most conservatives as they have proven to have a hidden agenda; making their friends and themselves rich at the expense of most of the world. This has been proven. The liberals are complicit too, but just not to the extent of the "nouveau fascists". Clinton may have engaged in "sexual acts" in office, but his worth, accomplishments and value as a president rank much higher than H.W., Bush, Jr. or even everyone's false idol Ronnie Reagan. The politics of exclusion has got to end. As long as Obama pursues something even slightly novel, I think things will change for the positive. It's all energy, remember that people, even if you don't want to believe that; it is TRUTH. INTENT IS EVERYTHING!
