Rice Likely to UN for Obama (Susan, Not Condi)

November 24, 2008 2:25 PM

From Jake Tapper, George Stephanopoulos, and Martha Raddatz:

ABC News has learned that Dr. Susan Rice has emerged as the leading candidate to be President-elect Obama's nominee as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Neither Dr. Rice nor the Obama Transition Team had any comment. The usual caveats apply -- nothing is yet a done deal, nothing has been officially offered or accepted, national security team announcements will not come until after Thanksgiving.

Dr. Rice, a member of President Bill Clinton's National Security Council and a former Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, was involved in President-elect Obama's campaign as a senior foreign policy adviser.

The former Rhodes Scholar in 2000 received the National Security Council's Samuel Nelson Drew Memorial Award for distinguished contributions to the formation of peaceful, cooperative relationships between nations, and U.S. security policy for global peace.

Once more O takes a page from the Clinton play book. The only difference between him and Hillary it turns out is that he will get the credit for Clinton's team putting the country back together.

I say again, he is an egomaniac who craves power as a compensation for lack of love and approval in his youth and learned better than most how to manipulate people.

What about the Abiola's "tea death"/murder in Nigeria?

I don't think anyone was suggesting that Bill and Hillary were racist, just that they were artfully pandering to racists

Hmm I think she is an okay choice, but my goodness during the primaries most of the Obama supporters claimed Hillary and Bill were racists and this just reminds me of all the qualified african americans and other minorites Bill had in his administration and he didnt even have their record to go by then they were fresh, Holder, Rice but yeah the Billy boy and Hilly gal were sure racisits. It just makes me mad, Clintons were railroaded in the primaries.

Come on the reason most people do not HRC is because she is still with Bill C. Other than that she is very smart. Stop hating and give her repect as women for walking with the wolves and holden her own.

Wasn't Rwanda part of Susan Rice's portfolio during the genocide?
What does that say about her, and shouldn't her specific policy experience (and failures) be discussed along with her other qualifications?

Senator Clinton will do just fine. Every step of the way people have screamed, moaned & wailed about her. Then when she gets there she knocks it out of the park. If it weren't for all the Clinton deranged folks, we wouldn't have to hear crap every time she does something.
What have you done for your country lately?

I dont agree with Colmes at all, but I did see his wife on the show in the past couple of weeks. He defintely married up! If I were him, I would want to spend more time at home!!!!

A bevy of Clinton picks don't make a prologue for the relative peace and prosperity of the Clinton years. Besides that, it's lacking in originality.

Susan Rice is like the Rachel Ray of the Obama admin..she looks good and can (probabaly) cook too.

I had some serious heart rate going there with the headline.

Condi sounds like she;s gunning for a job, though, what with those laudatory remarks every time she appears in public...
