Thanksgiving 2008

November 28, 2008 10:35 AM

I'm sitting here in Kansas City with my wife, baby, and in-laws.

Alice, 15 months, is eating toast, sitting on my lap.

Grandpa just asked Grandma what the name of the green muppet in the trash can is. (Oscar.)

We're all feeling very grateful. What are you thankful for this year? Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Jake, I'm thankful for the health of the family, for employment, and for hope and inspiration in new leadership. Thanks to you for the punch you serve up daily. Keep up the good work!

I'm happy that America has seemed to survive the 8 most nightmarish years in its history. I'm hoping that the next 4 years will be an improvement that will last. I'm glad to be born American and I want to always be happy about that.

I am thankful I do NOT eat animals or turkeys. Animals feel pain, want to live, just like you and me. I prefer to watch the wild turkeys in the forest near me. Free and beautiful.

we are thankful for YOUR hard work and unlike other journalists who have falling in Obama's hypnosis, you seem to be your own man.

We are thankful for that!

Jake - Did you notice the price of gas in Kansas City? $1.43 by where I live on the Missouri side of Kansas City. One thing to be thankful for during the financial crisis.

I'm thankful for you, Jake, just about the only member of the media who came through this election cycle with his integrity intact.

I am thankful to have the peace in my life to finally pause and ask about “Oscar”. (He seem a bit of a despot, but for the sake of peace I will not guess his party preference) The Granddaughter has an opportunity to grow to her maximum with the influence of wonderful loving parents and caring family. For this I am very thankful.

I'm thankful for my family- my parents, brother, sister-in-law and nephews- one of whom is going to be a teacher in a year or so and the other of whom is going to work with animals- what great choices! I am thankful that I am employed, that I am healthy enough and that I have friends. I am thankful that I am free to practice my religion. I am thankful for the hope being instilled by the President Elect and for the smoothness of the transition.

Thankful the neither me nor my family work at Walmart and that we are all in good health w/o medicaid.

Grateful that I wasn't at the New York Walmart that didn't have security measures in place to prevent the stampeding poor people shopping for bargains with a 'me first' attitude from trampling the minimum wage Walmart worker to death today! Guess Walmart saved money by allowing media to hype their stampedes instead of buying real advertising. Walmart could have bought security force services that provide real safety/security analysis and loss prevention planning, but it was cheaper to hire someone for minimum wage and tell them to get medicaid for health coverage.

First rate country to third world culture looking out for big business/the Waltons bottom line. What a shame. What a shame!

First and foremost, I'm grateful for my family.

Having just trolled AP reports, I'm grateful that I don't shop at Wal-Mart.

I thankful for my family. Although I lost my father this year, I am thankful that I still have my mother and my siblings. I am thankful for my job, my education and my peace. And I hope I won't annoy some of you with this, but I am thankful that Obama won. I would have felt very sad if he didn't. And, of course, I am thankful for the occasional laugh on Jake's blog (lol pefros). Although I do not celebrate the thanksgiving holiday, I still like the opportunity it gives people to contemplate the things they are thankful for.

Happy thanksgiving to you all and an especially Happy Thanksgiving to Alice and all the children out there. I hope they all get to have a bright future.
