The US Chamber of Commerce Likes PEBO's Economic Team

November 24, 2008 1:15 PM

Despite assertions of alleged "Socialism" by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, and Plumber Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, Natural Law Party-Ohio, the economic team paraded out today by President-elect Obama seems to meet with the approval of the US Chamber of Commerce.

US Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue issued the following statement on the announcement of President-elect Barack Obama’s economic team: "President-elect Obama has chosen a strong, experienced economic team. Restoring the nation's economic health must be our top priority and the Chamber stands ready to work with the new administration to spur growth and job creation. This team brings a wealth of knowledge to Washington and an understanding that any sustainable economic recovery will involve the business sector."

"Tim Geithner has a deep understanding of our capital markets and the experience and credibility to tackle our nation's biggest challenge -- restoring our economy and rebuilding our financial markets. He has been directly engaged in all the steps taken so far to address this unprecedented crisis and is well qualified to lead the Treasury Department. Larry Summers' knowledge of economic issues and past experience as Treasury secretary will serve President Obama well. Likewise, Christina Romer and Melody Barnes will bring an understanding that any sustainable economic recovery will involve the business sector."

Where are all the left wing terrorist lovin' radicals that we heard about from the GOP? Looks like a bunch of centrist, pragmatic Democrats.

Perhaps this endorsement by the Chamber of Commerce is just them doing their part to instill some confidence in our economy. For their own ends, perhaps, but we cannot afford to turn down any help.

As glad as I am that Obama won, I caution all who are relieved that all these experienced people are going to be at the helm. I seem to remember similiar reactions when Bush, Jr was picking his cabinet. Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Powell... that simply didn't work as we had hoped.

=======
John McCain had precisely nothing to say about the economic team paraded out today by President Barack Obama.
Neither he, nor Palin, nor Wurzelbacher asserted this team was socialist.

They asserted the policies advocated by Obama himself during the primaries were socialist. You may dispute that. Perhaps had this team been mentioned then- this team of which the Chamber of Commerce approves - McCain would not have made assertions of socialism.

That's nice. I hope the U.S. Chamber of Commerce loses a lot of its members, donors and funders, and lobbyists now that the Dems have control in D.C.

Instead of being pro-business but non-partisan, the Chamber became an adjunct of the GOP and big business, which is not good for most U.S. businesses, in particular small businesses.

Unmitigated gall? Really? If you listened to Obama's answer, it made a lot of sense. The problem is that Joe the Plumber was nothing that he represented himself to be and would benefit from Obama's tax plan. His problem is that he didn't listen to what Obama said, he listened to what the right wing said about waht Obama said, called him a socialist and said he'd be the death of Israel.

Granted, a private citizen should not be investigated without cause, but the ugy is a slime ball and became a schill for the corrupt, inept McCain campaign.

You and Jake think it's funny that several Ohio government officials investigated a private citizen for having the unmitigated gall to ask Obama (PBUH) a question about what his tax hikes will do to the entrepreneurs (aka job creators) in this country?

Nice...

You mean they are calling off George Soros and friends?

Today would be a good day for that.

Or They just going to continue with the changes to Take down the Government, make a new Type of Government and control the people?

The Democrats just bailed out, paid off and bought the market.

That would be thier only reason too.

Most of the 55 plus million that voted and did not vote for PEBO are content to be governed by the winner of the election....but the taunting will not help the republic.

Oh please, Jake. The US Chamber of Commerce is as socialist (make that corporatist) as GWB, McCain and Obama are.

With the myriad of idiots we've had at the helm, they've set a course for hyperinflation, and Obama has proven he is merely a continuum.

This is not Change™. It's more of the same.

Americans are too stupid to understand that the very same policies that got the financial markets into this mess are being used to "fix" it. It's Einstein's definition of insanity.

Who would have thunk it? Knowledge and competency back in leadership positions. No guarantees, but at least we'll finally have some of the best calling the shots. Bye, bye to the Idiot King.

"Plumber Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, Natural Law Party-Ohio"

TOO FUNNY, JAKE!!!

LOL

One person's Socialism is another person's Civilization .
If the Conservative's had their way we would all be living in 20' x 20' shacks with the outhouse and our water wells in the same 10'x10' front yard,

Obama is smart and he will pick the smart people as well

Posted by: ANGIE | Nov 24, 2008 1:57:25 PM

How refreshing to have the people who are most knowledgable about the economy solve this mess.

Tell JOe the plumber to get his own house in order first before he acts the part of the "stooge".

An endorsement by the Chamber of Commerce is nice, but not predictive of future success.
