I think Senator Clinton will make an excellent SOS. Those who believe that Obama will be pushed around by the Clintons haven't been paying attention to him or are engaged in wishful thinking.

As for Bill, New York has a wealth of qualified candidates to fill Senator Clinton's seat. We don't need Bill.

Hillary is laughing off her butt of !! Obama is now part of the Clinton's sleeze team. Billy and Hilly will run rings around the naive boob. He thinks he can control them ?? HAhaha.

To all her followers who fret about her taking this job;being duped and then dumped, stop and think. She has a lot of followers, millions, loyal to her not him.He would be committing political suicide if was plotting to rid himself of her that way. Can you imagine the response she and Bill would launch? Say what you may about Obama but he's no fool.He had to really convince her to take the job, that means a fair amount of input and real power over her turf. Sure he will have the final say...he'll be POTUS, but she will definetly not be chopped liver. So relax and be grateful she is on the job, we need her to help our badly wounded foreign relations.

i think it is time for the media to stop their love affair with the clintons
and try and find their way back to reporting news as a whole.
not just their spin on what sen. hill or pre. bill are doing and saying.

sen. clinton is a real trooper, and will cont to be a good public servant. as sos.
media you all are citizens also, living in this country. you know just as well if not better than the rest of us, the bad shape this country is in right now.
do your part please and try to help anyone who is trying to help this country back up, get up.

and what is with the phone list?
no news we can use there.

I'm a strong Hillary supporter, but I agree this is trivia not news.

While HRC is an interesting choice ... the first several years are going to be consumed with people questioning motives and raising conflicts of interest ... which may limit her effectiveness

So who is the next junior senator from the state of NY? Does Chelsea meet the residency requirements? No doubt the Clintons will find some way to keep it 'in the family'

Bill & Hill ... the gifts that keep on giving.

Posted by: OneObservation | Dec 1, 2008 8:53:16 PM

Could Hill and Bill come as a packaged deal?

Good for America that Hillary will be SoS. Personally, I'd rather she'd won POTUS than Obama.

Hillary Rodham Clinton will make a GREAT Secretary of States for the United States of America.
Bravo, Obama!

If Mrs. Clinton opposes Mr. Obama the way Mr. Powell opposed Mr. W, then the media wrath will descend on her like a hurricane. I hope Mrs. Clinton will still be a strong candidate for President later.

Ohhh it would be funny if Bill became senator. In case Obama's advisors start givining Hillary a hard time Bill could kick up a fuss in the senate.

Mr. Kerry must be so disappointed since he has been lobbying to the the SoS job before Pebo was nominated.

I want, but I rarely get, Bill Clinton to replace Hillary in the Senate.

Now that our Greatest Smartest Leader is kept on leash so that he will not constantly make boneheaded mistakes, there ought to be someone in the Senate to keep Reid under control. Bill can do that.

MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY, OBAMA!!!

Posted by: HILLARY | Dec 1, 2008 5:24:09 PM

Jake Tapper, please expound as to why you consider such standard operating procedure for administrative transitions to be newsworthy.

A good President WILL indeed challenge his cabinet but do so in a manner that will not be in their face.
The last great SOS was Madeleine Albright. I hope that Hillary will also serve the U.S. well.

Posted by: Smidy | Dec 1, 2008 5:16:35 PM

paul dupuis, you seem to forget Obama is the PE...not Clinton. And, if his staff do not follow what HE wants done, he has every right to, as YOU put it, 'get in their face'. Clinton serves the President's agenda, not her own.

Posted by: NancyD | Dec 1, 2008 4:55:37 PM

This will be an excellent team. Bravo America.

Posted by: dem in chicago | Dec 1, 2008 4:45:42 PM

uh, paul dupuis, there was this election and Barack Obama won, so Hillary can expect President Obama to "be in her face," since she will be implementing his policies and prerogatives. That's sort of the way this whole deal works. He's in charge.
