Obama Calls for Blagojevich to Resign
December 10, 2008 12:37 PM
In response to questions from the AP, Obama Transition Team aide and incoming White House press secretary Robert Gibbs today said that the President-elect believes Gov. Rod Blagojevich should resign, and that the Illinois legislature should consider holding a special election for Mr. Obama's replacement in the Senate.
Questions and answers below:
1. Does the President-elect believe the governor should resign?
Yes. The President-elect agrees with Lt. Governor Quinn and many others that under the current circumstances it is difficult for the Governor to effectively do his job and serve the people of Illinois.
2. Should there be a special election?
The President-elect believes that the general assembly should consider the issue and put in place a process to select a new senator that will have the trust and confidence of the people of Illinois.

Mayor Richard Daley is the capo de
tutti capi in Illinois politics, tho
the reliable news rarely mentions his
name. His spawn now affects national
politics to a degree unseen in recent
years. "60 Minutes" will no doubt
have an expose on this godfather soon

Obama is a TOTAL fraud & disaster waiting to happen. It's my hope that he'll be exposed for the lying criminal sack that he is before he's inaugurated in January. Keeping fingers crossed.

I don't live in a U.S. where community service is considered a felony. You are a fraud not President Elect Barack Hussein Obama. But I guess the Democrats are responsible for everything even the War in Iraq...

Dems, no I am sure as heck not prevy to every conversation my boss has, guess what word gets around because people talk and I ask questions. When job positions become open in my area I diffentely ask who may get them what their duties will be and where the person came from. So if silly me does that I find it hard to believe that Obama didn't ask the Gov who he was thinking about having replace him or tell the Gov who he thought should replace him. Even if you give Obama the benifit of the doubt about not speaking directly to the gov about replacements I am sure someone from his transition team did and then we are suppose to believe that they informed Obama of nothing that was going on?

Blago soliciting bribes from
whom? What they have on tape
are his conversations with his
advisors.
No individual or organization
has brought solicitation of
bribery charges against him.
We do not see any names from
whom he solicited bribes in
all the articles and stories
that have appeared in the
media.
He does not appear to be any
wealthier now than he was
before he became governor.
He has known for quite a while
that the FBI is secretly taping
his conversations.
Other than his vulgar talk
and mafia don braggadocio,
there does not appear to be
a legal case against him.

See, that's the thing...his phone wasn't bugged until noone got what they wanted.

I am sure randy Rod isn't quaking in his bvd's over Mr. Obama's request.
Resigning might be the right thing to do. It certainly would be a smart move, but clearly anyone who carries on 'business' when he is well aware that his phone is probably being tapped is either 1) stupid or 2) arrogant or 3) stupid and arrogant.

Isn't the timing interesting. Fitzgerald's been trying to get the Governor for a long time. All of a sudden now he just happens to bug the Governor's house and office. Must have been quite a tip about that senate seat. Didn't say the Governor ACTUALLY got any money out of these recent allegations. Isn't that where the crime is? Question: What is it called when delegates and super delegates ACTUALLY get money for their campaigns or PROMISED positions in a new administration if the presidential candidate gets their vote? Can you say selling votes and positions?

BO,
Your call for his resignation is yet another brave display of courage you have shown in the face of corruption.
If any of these obamabots posting here can show BO speaking out against corruption before he has been boxed into a corner, I will fall out of my chair.
On the other hand, I can list numerous people BO has been more than happy to call his buddies when he was transitioning from community agitator to prez-elect.
The man is a liar.

Obama is the leader of the Democratic party. He has been President Elect only a few months and his party is already deep in corruption already. And he's clueless in all of this, at least that's what's he has been saying to the American people. When you are the leader, you have to take responsibilities.

If Obama was not involved then what was he talking about last Sunday when Brokaw asked how he felt about Caroline Kennedy as Senator from NY? He responded that he respected Kennedy hugely, but that he wasn’t getting involved in NY politics because he had enough problems with politics in Illinois. Could the problems be that the bidding war with the governor was getting out of hand?
Of course he would need to have a conversation about the governor... at least to tell him when he is resigning. And there is interest in your old seat. Apparently Emanuel was also having conversations with the Gov about filling *his* House (the 5th Congressional District) seat. Blago wanted help in raising $10M to $15M for some PAC and according to the complaint
"when he asks me for the fifth CD thing I want it to be in his head.”"

Mr. Obama can't be trusted - he has been a serial liar during the campaign. Now he may be lying as President Elect.

hey Dems, get in the game here, if it has anything to do with Illinois in general then Obama was privy to it and he is to blame.......... unless of course it was something good then he obviously had nothing to do with it.
Is there any point in trying to hold a sensible discussion with these people?

Rachel writes, "I am tired of Obama's answer to everything beign I had no idea what was happening. Either he is way tooo clueless to be president(we had one of those presidents already) or he looks the other way when these things are going on or he participates by proxy."
===============================
Either that or he was a United States Senator and not privy to every every conversation held behind closed doors at the "State" level. Something tells me you don't have the foggiest idea of what you're boss is currently planning YET you a) work directly for him/her and b) are in relative close proximity. Funny how the "common sense" rules change when you dislike someone huh?

What next from the Republicans and ABC? It took them a year to tell us we're in a recession. BUT, let somebody say something dirty and attach Obama to it, then it deserves repeated blogs and news coverage. Right-wing news is so boring.

I understand that in 1984 Obama rode on the subway and stood next to some guy who was accused of robbing a bank. Or maybe he was accused of cheating on taxes? Or maybe he was in a hit and run accident? Well, whatever it was I'm sure there is a way to implicate Obama in whatever the guy did. He rode with him in a subway afterall!
