As I read over some of these comments I realized that ignorance is alive and well. President Elect Obama acted on behalf of the safety of his children by enrolling them in a private school. This man has received hundreds of death threats by people who hate him simply because of his color. Do you think these racists would try to harm him or his children ? Of course they would!! I don't recall Jimmy Carter ever having to deal with this type of problem.

I think its nice of Pres Obama to take his 2 beautiful girls to a private school! I mean if you were the president and you were afraid of the media hurting your children then I think you would do the same and take them to a private school! Please do stay nice and keep rude comments to yourself about Pres Obama. And as for the media, I feel sorry for you if you even try to follow those girls. Watch out for the bodyguards! :p

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about the Obama's not being able to stay at the Blair house. First of all the place was previously reserved for someon else. Wouldn't that be rude to push THOSE people our?? I am not saying they asked for that, what I have read did not lead me to think that. They just asked and it was taken, no big deal. Secondly, this family can afford a suite at the Hilton or Ritz Carlton. Much better digs than most of us live in on a daily basis. They will also be provided with transportation so that will not put anyone out as far as parking or paying to park. So what is the big deal. I think the public and reporters are making a bigger issue out of this than the Obama's or the Bushe's.

Why don't you Obama Haters take a pill to calm down! Who could possibly be more non-presidential than the outgoing president. But none of you noticed that - even though this president's decisions are still causing death for our American young men and women. Stop with that closed mind thinking and race hating! Obama is the incoming President and there is nothing you can do about it - so lick your wounds quietly.

Anyway, the Obama's asked about the availability of Blair house because of the early registration of the girls. I am just saddened at the negative remarks regarding the children when it will be so nice to have kids in the White House again.
Also, regarding Sidwell - Obama will not be the first President to send his child / children there so zip it. There are security factors for a President's kids that must be factored. Grow up folks. Have a great day :).

Why should Obama be given any type of special treatment over those before him. He needs to follow protocal and tradition. After his Inauguration he will have access to the Blair house, NOT UNTIL. YOULANDER...alot of parents have the same thing happen to them everyday.Most of them are in the service to our country.The parent gets orders to another base and rather than pull the kids out of school in mid season they opt to let them finish the year out. If you had your way you'd have the Bushs' out of the White House last month. Obama will get his turn at President on Jan. 20th and they don't deserve any special treatment just because you say so. Whats wrong with the apartment Barry has in DC? Cant they hang for 5 days till they recieve all the entitlements of office? Of course it will need dusting because it hasnt been used by Barry in 2+ years. Don't you just love professional politicans? You may....I don't!!

Thanks for such excellent coverage of stories. I watch you mostly every morning and enjoy all of the fun and serious stories shared on this airway. However, this past Friday, I was not so happy after hearing the report that President Bush and his family will occupy Blair house, and the Obama's may not move in until after January 15, 2008!

It seems the Bush's schedule of events at the Blair house is a "covert" way of stating "we" will hold on until the last possible moment when we must vacate and leave! Can their parties and events be so much more important than two little girls getting settled in and beginning their new lives at a new school, new friends, and new environment. Maybe President Bush is entitled to the use of Blair house until January 15th! Well, how about out of courtesy, he and Laura leave or considered leaving before January 5 when the girls will be staring school, and to let the Obama's take their rightful place at this residence for the girls’ sake, and out of courtesy?
