Joe the Plumber Heading to Middle East To Be Correspondent for Conservative Media Outlet

January 07, 2009 2:21 PM

Ohio's WNWO-TV has the scoop: Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, will be heading off to the Holy Land to become a war correspondent for conservative Pajamas TV.

“If given the opportunity to do some good however minute it may be, or could be something really good, you gotta take that chance.  You have to do it,” Wurzelbacher said. "I get to go over there and let there 'Average Joes' share their story, what they think, how they feel, especially with world opinion, maybe get a real story out there."

Wurzelbacher said that "being a Christian I'm pretty well protected by God I believe.  That's not saying he's going to stop a mortar for me, but you gotta take the chance."

Godspeed, Joe. Or should I say יוֹסֵף ? Or possibly يوسف‎.

"Roxie: I say good for Joe. He's aggressive and will do good over there."

Say what? He's a tax-evading, attention-hungry, non-licensed plumber, not really named Joe, who became infamous for asking a question concerning a tax increase that will NEVER be a concern for him and for being the second biggest gaffe in the entire campaign of John McCain, and he has ZERO experience as a reporter or journalist. What is God's name could you possible see in this clown to make you think he'll be able to lend insight to the very complex issues relating to Palestine and Israel? It's people like you who put George Bush into office. I am in awe of you. Well, you and the people who actually had a legit reason to vote for him (wealthy people).

Roxie: I say good for Joe. He's aggressive and will do good over there. And what are all these commentor's doing with their life besides nothing. Don't they wish they had Joe's job. But that will never happen to them, they will never accomplish a thing in their lifetime and hate the world for it. Obama was just like them in college. How long did he work at Rezko's law firm. He never did a hard day's work in his lifetime. He wanted the Clinton people so he could relax and they would run the country. I am glad I wasn't duped by him but most of this country was. And it will get worse as time goes by. Biden can't help him because he needs help himself.

dem in Chicago: And let's hope Obama doesn't get re-elected after his term is up. Maybe he won't last four years. Joe knows more than Obama hasn't learned yet and it will take four years just to train him. When they call the governor corrupt, why do you think that Obama chose Clinton's people. No doubt while campaigning for the presidency, Axelrod made deals with them to vote Obama and they would get hired for his administration. That's how you see an election.

"Joe went from being a fake plumber to being a fake reporter."

He's even a fake Joe.

Joe went from being a fake plumber to being a fake reporter.

It is so amazing that the same people that berated Obama for having no "experience" are ready to jump on the bandwagon of Joe who will probably be in line for the Nobel Idiot Prize, oops they don't give that do they? or did W receive the last one. With all the looming debt, loss of jobs, home foreclosures why are we wasting time on Joe? Repubs/neocons find an issure worth writing and talking about.

"Why does the left need to create villians to hate, debase and degrade?"

Why does the right need to create fake heroes to sell their ideas?

Is it that without deception no one would follow them?

From Jessica Lynch to Sarah Palin to Joe the Plumber.

At least Jessica Lynch stood up to right wingers exploiting her.

"A question based on a false premise (both his income and company's income greatly exaggerated) from a guy who collected welfare but 'hates' socialism."

So, every question that the MSM asks are based on "true" premises? Really? What is the premise behind asking PEBO how it *feels* to be him, other than adoration of celebrity?

I repeat. There is no reason for anyone to wish Joe the Plumber ill will. Why does the left need to create villians to hate, debase and degrade? True liberal thought is open minded and tolerant. It would celebrate the idea of a "regular guy" citizen-reporter. The "new" liberalism is close-minded, mean-spirited and dangerously intolerant.

Ben Franklin warned of "the tyranny of the majority".

"The majority, oppressing an individual, is guilty of a crime, abuses its strength, and by acting on the law of the strongest breaks up the foundations of society." --Thomas Jefferson to Pierre
Samuel Dupont de Nemours, 1816

"Yes he is leaving this country so he will not have to redistribute his income the way the OBAMA decides he should"

What are you talking about? It'll take that guy years to make $250K. This reporter gig is going to last all of a 6 months. Obama is putting MORE money in his pocket, not less.

"A question based on a false premise (both his income and company's income greatly exaggerated) from a guy who collected welfare but "hates" socialism."

It's art.

Statistically, Joe has an excellent chance of remaining intact and unharmed while he's in Israel. He won't be among those trapped behind walls with no exit into Israel or Egypt, with no shelter to be found anywhere whatsoever. There's no safety for the inhabitants within the walls, where schools, mosques, and UN buildings are all deemed targets.

Some proclaim Joe a hero. Afterall, what does it matter what half of the country, the UN, and most of the world think? Some find it easy to ignore the collateral damage like children coming into Gaza hospitals with open abdomens and severed limbs. According to the New York Times and the International Herald, amputations are being performed almost routinely in the hospitals. The doctors and nurses think that the kind of weaponry being used could be causing it.

Joe will have a slight extension of his fifteen minutes of fame on the other side of the walls. He'll help some not have to think about what lies inside them.

If he grows a brain while he's there, he'll come back to the U.S. as a Democrat.

Waiting for Wurzelbacher.

Is this the real news or is this a Christopher Guest movie?

I'd say Greta is barking up the wrong tree if she decides to self promote in Israel.

Posted by: bertie w | Jan 7, 2009 7:40:39 PM

I think Joe would make a good body guard there when his novelty wears off, which should be pretty soon. But in the meantime, Greta Van Sustern may be chomping at the bit to join him in Israel.

"He was an informed voter simply asking an important question, a better question than most media hires asked Obama during the entire election."

A question based on a false premise (both his income and company's income greatly exaggerated) from a guy who collected welfare but "hates" socialism.

Joe the Plumber has become modern short hand for the proudly ignorant.

Posted by: Ryan C | Jan 7, 2009 7:13:17 PM

Once again, Jake, such nonsensical gossip about a truly low-brow media personality is an egregious waste of bandwidth. Who cares about an ignoramus like "Joe the Plumber"?

Why don't you write about something worthwhile and newsworthy, like, let's say, current efforts to resolve the impasse in the Minnesota Senate race and seat the apparent winner, Al Franken?

Posted by: Donald from Hawaii | Jan 7, 2009 6:30:47 PM

Yes, rimshot's right. I was joking.

Posted by: MayBee | Jan 7, 2009 6:12:22 PM

Joe the Plumber has more common sense and journalistic instincts than most current MSM reporters.

Why would anyone wish him ill will? It doesn't make sense. He was an informed voter simply asking an important question, a better question than most media hires asked Obama during the entire election.

The MSM only asked how Obama felt about being the chosen one. "How does it feel to be so special?" It was all smoke and mirrors and a masterful use of the alliance between the liberal reporters, no, liberal journalists, no, liberal water bearers and lackeys for the DNC.

The media brazenly and shamelessly chose a side in this election. 2008 will be remembered as the year that journalism as the noble fourth estate died.

Joe the Plumber will do at least as well if not better than the current crop of media posers. Good luck to him. I hope he stays safe and reports interesting and enlightening information.
