Today's Obamicon
January 31, 2009 9:52 AM
On Jan. 2, President Obama's nominee to be secretary of the Department of Health and Human services, former Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., filed amended tax returns to pay $140,167 in unpaid taxes. Read more about it HERE and HERE.

*Sigh* it doesn't matter. His brand of transparency is "here's what I'm gonna do, and there's not thing one any of you voters can do about it." Sounds really, really familiar, doesn't it?
Daschle will be in...who's next?
What's saddest is that SOME people people find this acceptable...because he's Obama. What freakin' sense does that make? How can you bash one and not another who does basically the same thing? That's just unhinged. People wanted honesty, or so they said. How can they accept this?
And yes, SOME responses to this will prove my point. And won't be worth a response from me.

Democracy Corps released a poll that shows Obama's approval rating at 55%. This is nearly a 30 point drop since his inauguration.
******************************************************
I took a look at Democracy Corps. There is nothing about any 30 point drop in approval rating, but there are very strong polling numbers for the stimulus bill.
It appears my previous posting didn't go through. But sufffice to say, no president in US history has ever undergone a 30 point drop in 10 days, not even his predecessor.

I've never heard of Democracy Corps. On 1-21 , the day after inauguration, Obama had a 69% approval rating according to Gallup. The only other person to have a higher approval since WW II was Kennedy, who had a 72% rating on 2-15-61. Source: Time
Today's Gallup poll has him at 67%. for approval. No precipitous drop as claimed ever happened. No president in US history has ever had a 30 point drop in approval over a period of ten days.

Shameful not only describes wallstreet but is a perfect word to describe the Pelosi house stimulus plan. Immediate aide requires direct action. You cannot stay warm, feed the hunger or house those put on the street by storm, eviction, forclosure with the garbage expenditures included in this folly. Obama will see how quickly the Independence will turn away if he does not act to rein in his DNC CA I sincerely hope that the Senate steps up to adjust the content of this bill.

Jake Tapper rocks!

This is a bad way to start off. People don't have any confidence in government and Obama picks people who don't pay taxes.

The American people are beggining to see Obama for who he is and what he believes. I predict he will be below a 50% approval rating in six months. I am actually surprised, I really though Obama was smart enough to avoid establishing such a left-wing persona so early on in his administration. Does not bode well for him over the next four years.

At least be truthful. Obama's approval ratings have fallen since the inauguration. Right now, they are about the same as Jimmy Carter's were at this time in his presidency. Interesting...
From Berkowitz in the wsj:
"...Bush hatred and Obama euphoria -- which tend to reveal more about those who feel them than the men at which they are directed -- are opposite sides of the same coin. Both represent the triumph of passion over reason. Both are intolerant of dissent. Those wallowing in Bush hatred and those reveling in Obama euphoria frequently regard those who do not share their passion as contemptible and beyond the reach of civilized discussion. Bush hatred and Obama euphoria typically coexist in the same soul...
"...Bush hatred and Obama euphoria are particularly toxic because they thrive in and have been promoted by the news media, whose professional responsibility, it has long been thought, is to gather the facts and analyze their significance, and by the academy, whose scholarly training, it is commonly assumed, reflects an aptitude for and dedication to systematic study and impartial inquiry..."

Yea Kathy, Al Capone got 11 years for income tax evasion. If he were alive i'm sure he would have voted for Obama and been appointed to head up the ATF.

Contrary to the mirage his detractors around here construct and the punditry of some talking heads.

JayJay,
The change I was expecting has become a mirage. Wake up pal you've been had but apparently that doesn't bother you for many reasons i'm sure.

I see so many Obama bashers. Waoh, Obama is only thirteen days in office and yet he has so many opposition already. For now, just relax, he will make a mistake but I do not see any yet. Instead, I see his popularity increasing.

good job tappy
way to attract all the flies to your blog.

It's obviously not honey that's attracting them, but something a tad nasty. I think this was inspired by the swarms the earlier reports on Daschle produced. I detect a reciprocity here between blogging and "journalism."

I dont think that this tax issue is comparable to Geithner's but all the same if it was knowingly done, it is condemnable but it is something that can readily escape anyone. Geithner's was more deliberate but this one was discovered by the transition team in their vetting process and they quickly corrected it. I believe Tom is going to be confirmed still.

Only an idiot would claim that less than 100% of Americans pay taxes. In fact, not only do all Americans pay taxes, so do all illegal immigrants (most of whom are in fact already American, but I digress).

I see how Obama won the election.
50% of Americans do not have to pay taxes and Obama is sending them a check.
The rich refuse to pay taxes and they get away with it.
With Geither in charge of the IRS Obama is a cinch for reelection.

Change apparently is a mirage America.

Now we know why Obama's friends support higher taxes--they are not required to pay them.
