Yet Another Journalist Joins Obama Team
February 16, 2009 10:03 AM
Chicago Tribune correspondent Jill Zuckman announced yesterday that she will join the Obama administration as assistant to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and director of public affairs.
"I'm excited about going to a department in the administration that's going to play a huge role in hopefully putting people back to work," Zuckman told the newspaper.
Zuckman becomes at least the fourth reporter to join the Obama administration. Others include former TIME Washington bureau chief Jay Carney who is now Vice President Biden's communications director, former Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Gosselin who is now a speechwriter for Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, and former Washington Post deputy editor Warren Bass who is an adviser to United Nations Ambassador Dr. Susan Rice.
Former ABC News congressional correspondent Linda Douglass became a senior strategist for the Obama campaign, while other campaign officials included former CNN producer Kate Albright-Hanna and former CNN correspondent Aneesh Raman.
There is also talk, of course, of CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta becoming surgeon general.
Former ABC News correspondent Geoff Morrell is Pentagon spokesman, having taken the job during the Bush administration and staying on with Defense Secretary Gates.

I hear Fox News is liberal media now.

The media followed the only decent story during the primary and general elections - President Obama!!
If you want to blame (or thank) anyone for the slam dunk election -- look to team McCain's triple double screw up -- with Palin leading the league in assists.
I would never vote for Obama/Biden (especially Biden) But I Do Understand and cannot fault anyone who voted against the Dorky Duo (McCain/Palin).

the obamedia getting payed their hush-money with taxpayer dollars.
well that certainly is transparency.

Pretty amazing that they join a campaign and an administration and still bear the title "journalist". I thought journalists were supposed to be objective? They always claim to be. Maybe in their heads they are.
Unfortunate that media outlets have become extensions of political arms of our government through their own personal politics. The end result is that the American public gets the losing end of full perspective and information.
When asking a "journalist" about why they left out important facts from a story, the "journalist" replied, "I didn't feel those facts were important to the story, and only would have lengthened the limited space I have".
Professional journalism at its finest.

Yesterday, the new U.S. President played basketball and then watched the NBA all-star game with a friend. He’s been enjoying a vacation in Chicago, seemingly unconcerned that we are in the midst of a financial crisis the like of which we haven’t seen since the 1930s.
As always today Hillary Clinton is not vacationing, nor taking time off. Hillary is hard at work Saving The World.
When the world needs help, when the world sends a call for help like a mythical Batsignal in the night, that S.O.S. morse code message is answered by S.O.S. herself - Hillary Clinton.

The longer President Obama is in office the more I wish for a re-do on the election. A journalism major in the Cabinet. Three years, 11 months and counting. I do believe Mr. Tapper is in the tank for President Obama...or he is incapable of doing investigative/informative reporting.

I guess that's in addition to
President Obama's stealth journalists
in the news media like Chris Matthews,
Bill Press, and George Stephanopoulos to
name a few! You'll neither hear nor
read any discouraging words here.
Everything is "peachy keen" in
Obamaland. Obama is responsible for
all that is good and those bad
republicans are to blame for anything
that goes wrong! Yeah Right!
The American People are too smart to
fall for the pablum thrown out by
the Obama Cheerleaders!
Jimmy Carter, the sequel has begun.

That's 18 MILLION PLUS VOTERS, sorry for the error
Posted by: sngeorgia | Feb 16, 2009 8:28:16 PM
18 plus Americans voted for President Obama. Not the media for sure. If then candidate had said a third of what came out of the mouths of hypocrite McBush and Palin he would not have lasted as long as those idiots did. McBush has always been cozy with the media. Watch him....Johnny come lately along with his cronies are hoping that the American economy will fail, so he'll get back his "media darling status" Wish.

Boy you all give the people who write stories for papers a looooot of credit...i personally don't pay any attention to most of them...i am beginning to think republicans are the only one hanging on their every word...just hoping they will side with them...republican approval rating sank after the stimulus bill-thats all the information i need to know

Woody: Your children don't have a future without this bill...get your priorities straight..don't just repeat what you hear from politicians-it will make you go blind....

Jake:
You are hands down the best reporter in washington. You know it, we know it....I'm just sad that Barry will likely not include you in any of the reindeer games.
He picks his reporters carefully. This is all a big staged show. Barack thinks we are stupid enough to swallow all of this. Time will tell, I suppose.
Keep up the truth. Just the truth...We desperately need it Jake.

No, I'm pretty sure the media got Obama elected. He made them tingly.
Posted by: HeavenBound | Feb 16, 2009 6:55:09 PM
The media did NOT get Obama elected. John McCain and his inept campaign did. Unlike many on the right who are so blinded by their morally bankrupt ideology that they can't see straight, the MAJORITY of the American voters were tired of incompetence in the White House and voted for someone most likely to make us respect the Presidency once again. Here is an analysis of the media coverage of the 2008 election from the Pew Research Center for those of you who want the truth and not spin.

Who in their right mind considers the military budget necessary for "the common defense"?
Posted by: Flash Override | Feb 16, 2009 5:50:11 PM
Most of the media went to work for Obama over a year ago.
Posted by: Tina | Feb 16, 2009 5:49:56 PM
Woody, that was only the $612 billion appropriation bill. If you want to talk about all military spending, you are talking about twice that amount for this year.
Posted by: Flash Override | Feb 16, 2009 5:48:53 PM
To Flash Override: Have you read your Constitution lately? Do you know the difference between an annual federal budget and a supplemental spending bill? Military spending is part of the annual budget, and in fact is one of the few items that we as taxpayers are constitutionally obligated to provide. We must provide for a common defense and the infrastructure of government ( salaries for Reps, Senator, Judges, buildings, etc.) All other spending is at the discretion of our elected officials so far as we will stand for it. This bill is by far the largest supplemental spending bill ever passed by any government. We will be mortgaging our childrens' future on a hunch. Are you OK with that?
