Emblems to Stamp Projects Funded by the Stimulus Package

March 03, 2009 2:09 PM

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports:

Put a stamp on it -- that’s what the White House says.

President Obama announced today that his administration will begin stamping an emblem on projects funded by the economic stimulus package so that people can easily recognize the effects of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

All projects will be stamped with the ARRA logo (short for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) and lists the recovery.gov website on the emblem.

In remarks at the Department of Transportation this morning, Mr. Obama referenced the new emblems.

“We’re also making it easier for Americans to see what projects are being funded with their money as part of our recovery. So in the weeks to come, the signs denoting these projects are going to bear the new emblem of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,” Obama said. “These emblems are symbols of our commitment to you, the American people -- a commitment to investing your tax dollars wisely, to put Americans to work doing the work that needs to be done.  So when you see them on projects that your tax dollars made possible, let it be a reminder that our government -- your government -- is doing its part to put the economy back on the road of recovery.”

Obama, who was at the Transportation Department to highlight the 150,000 specific jobs that would be saved or created under highway spending from the recovery act, also said that transportation specific projects would don a second emblem - bearing the word TIGER (short for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery).

The process of establishing economic recovery is the bus being driven by the President. He is the only driver we have, yet some would rather be dropped off in the ditch of economic disaster. Well they can do that if they choose to, but what is objectionable are those hanging on the bus drivers neck, while the bus is racing down the mountain road. What is worse those were the same folks that set us on this terrible path. And now we are trying to safely get to the bottom, and all they can do is cry and distract the driver, making the bad situation worse. Thanks alot.

Yeah it is you are correct, only paying to research pig odor, and the other 9,000 examples in the 1100 page bill, do not stimulate the economy, and the ysure as hell dont sustain life. Youre an idiot.

All this talk about money being spent frivolously. How about the boatloads of money dished out during the Iraq escapade the last couple of years. Its about time we spend some money here sustaining life.

I guess they thought the Swastika, or the Hammer and Sickle, where too brazen. What a communist. And to Kat the real one, their accountability to taxpayers is to, "NOT WASTE THEIR TAXES!!"

when did graphic design become "communist?"

i like it.

How will they put this stamp on the part of the "stimulus" that has 1.7 million tax payer dollars going to "Pig Odor Research" in Iowa? Will they just stamp it right on the pigs, or will the workers wear uniforms bearing the socialist agenda stamp.

Slightly better than the pepsi logo; only slightly.

Posted by: mediazerm | Mar 4, 2009 9:41:44 PM

Ohh yes FDR had a logo too.

Read up on the Blue Eagle logo for his NRA abomination.
Henry Ford and small businesses did not use them it and see where it got them.

How much did we pay for this out of tax payers money. Is it necessary?

What's wrong with the emblems/logos is that they have a decided Communist Propaganda feel. Let him have his signs, but do they have to represent all things Communist? This is America. Let's have some creativity!

This most downheartening. The ramifications of the actions being taken now will impact everyone for the next 30 years. Obama needs to understand that; yet he can't.

The United States of America is NOT a YMCA in South Chicago; Obama needs to understand that; yet he can't.

Obama was put in office by voters who could not look passed the flowery prose and charasmatic appeal. Obama says so much without actually saying anything. Obama needs some fundamental training... in order to lead the United States of America, one needs to understand the United States of America. In order to understand her, one needs to love the United States of America (with ALL it's flaws) and embrace the principals of its founding; yet he can't.

Obama needs to understand that, as President, he is a human starting pistol - the immediate and consequential results of his statements; yet he can't.

Support Obama - Nope - I can't.

To say that one supports the President, but not his policies...? What? That's as moronic as supporting our troops, but opposing their actions in defense of this country - at the direction of the President, as approved by CONGRESS. Just as moronic as spending billions of dollars on "special projects" while calling it stimulus.

Stand by - if not stopped, this will indeed become an Obamanation.

Simple fix? Fire all 535 and replace them with working mothers and fathers; laid off employees who know how to budget their income. Americans who know the difference between a want and a need, and have actually held positions in that "small business" who argued the point. Americans who live their daily lives outside the "golden parachute" of the DC Beltway in the real economy, buying real gas, real food, real clothes.

These same Americans are just as (if not more) educated then Obama. They bring a diversity of thought and proven concept of practice.

The United States of America is not easy. It's advanced citizenship. It's as plain as the nose on your face, and as elusive and mysterious as the Blue Whale. You have to want this IDEA to succeed, not simply point out all it's faults and place blame.

Obama needs to understand that to be a true leader, he needs to embrace the idea of America, understand America, listen to her people, and act accordingly; yet he can't.

Before you know it, Obama's face will be projected on the outside of buildings and we will expected to bow down when we see it. Good luck with that, I will go to jail first. The evil is creeping in, inch by inch. We must be aware of this and stop it.

I think it's missing something in that upper-right quadrant. Oh, yes: It needs a black quadrant with a red flame surrounding a $, symbolizing all of the money that's gone up in smoke!

Okay, the sad part of this is the company that will make the stamps has gone out of business. Yes, this down turn caught them by surprise and they are gone. Now the stamps have to be made in China, in a plant powered by non-clean burning coal. It will take 9 weeks after manufacture for the stamps to arrive in DC for distribution. Meanwhile, the CO2 from the smokestack in that factory will have circled the world three times. Joe Biden is an idiot. But his "health" (foot in mouth disease) will cause his removal in 14 more months.

Posted by: tim | Mar 4, 2009 9:32:59 AM

And the money for these stamps comes from where?

If jobs are created the American people can, and will, see them. We don't need to spend more money we don't have to point out to us what we can already see under our noses. Children we are not, Mr. President.

"I guess Roosevelt's national WPA infrastructure initiative was a terrible thing because it had its own logo, too? Give me a break."
"This is like the "WPA" I see carved into so many public works projects and structures in this area. Every time I see that "WPA" logo on public structures, I am reminded of how great FDR was and how he pulled America up by its bootstraps. I hope that "ARRA" will have the same significance for future generations."

REALLY?????? Have you researched that time? Have you researched what the government did to business then if people didn't participate? Keynesian economics, or supply-side economics.. it's more of a argument of these two sides. I don't think in the Dali-Bama's mind that he's setting out to destroy the nation on purpose. I do think he is a socialist, and I would have more respect for the people in charge if they would just say - this is what we want to do.

In the meantime - small business is going down the tubes. We see the reflection in the market *daily* The personal assault on capitalism continues! Thank you, Mr. President!

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

There are 3 leaves on the plant and 8 stars. The little plus sign in the gear means you add: 3+8=11. And how many letters are in Barack Obama? I think it is pretty clear what is going on here!

To Mike_C:

Yes, it's a little more difficult to pinpoint jobs "saved" in the corporate sector.

It is not difficult to do so for state and local governments. Thos budget shortfalls (and the proposed layoffs) are there for the eye to see.

In almost every city/state in this country, there are teachers, cops, firefighters, and city/state workers who will now be able to keep their jobs.

And yes, those roles are "jobs", not "work".

Gear - Hammer
Plant - Sickle

Our country is in great danger, Obama is nothing but a front for the real power players that want to gain total control over our us.
