Gibbs Weighs In on Steele's Apology to Rush
March 03, 2009 4:49 PM
What does it say about the state of the Republican Party that RNC chairman Michael Steele apologized to conservative talk radio giant Rush Limbaugh, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked today by the irrepressible J-Mart of Politico.
“I was a little surprised at the speed in which Mr. Steele, the head of the RNC, apologized to the head of the Republican Party," Gibbs said.
Gibbs repeated again –- as he did yesterday –- that members of the press should ask Republicans whether they agree with Mr. Limbaugh’s comments that he hopes President Obama fails.

Rush is becoming a sort of a Mt.Rushmore for the Democratic Party Elite.Rush is so powerful according to them that they have to enlist, our President, the Chief of Staff, the Press Secretary, the propaganda voice- boxes of the well oil democratic machinery ,the Liberal Press.Pretty soon they will call the Arm forces too. What a ridiculus predicament when we all are suffering in this land of ours. Maybe they will remember their own slogan Is the Economy Stupid11111

"I'll give you a bit of insight, we support Rush more than any of the GOP leadership."
And that speaks to the lunacy of the right wing more than anything.

It says that Republicans do not have the balls to stand up to a divisive force within their party. It also says they are leaderless right now and have no message. Until they stand up to Limbaugh in a decisive way their support will continue to deteriorate amongst Indepenents (like myself) and moderates..

I'm loving the idea that Obama is trying to manipulate the 'Rush' thing...
This will be another 'self induced' wound....Until now...the country has only heard sound bites that out of context seem wacko...those of us who have actually listened to Rush...know better....but the public has to make an effort to 'find' Rush on the radio....How wonderful O'dummy is giving him a national platform....I'm jumping for joy here.....
We want the Republicans in congress to 'man up' and 'out' Obama whenever possible....but I understand the fine line they must walk while a lot of the country is still in "loovvve" with this con man......
Obama is encouraging this as a way to distract the country from paying attention to what he's doing to the country....HA! this will sooooo blow up in his face......Rush will put him under a microscope...and show the country who the 'real' Obama is.
We want our congressmen and women to realize....they are our 'soldiers'...their mission is to 'protect' America from this kind of radical reforming of our American values....It just so happens their hands are tied now....they are outnumbered...
We so need a 'voice' to educate Americans right now....it's going to take public opinion to turn this around.
If you are so stupid as too fall for the spin that Rush ''is the head of the Republican Party'' then you will have to accept 'The View' is the head of the Democratic Party.....Their venomous attacts..using their national platform every dang day...shouting over Lizabeth completly denying an opposing VIEW...lol [pun intended]..
Let the Games begin!

Is George Stephanopolous and his daily phone friends a part of Obama's campaign to discredit Rush?!?!

The controversy about Michael Steele and Rush Limbaugh (who I don't really particularly listen to anymore) is more than about Rush. When the liberal talk show host said that CPAC looked like a bunch of Nazis Michael Steele nodded in agreement.
Some said his nodding wasn't in agreement with that statement but still at the very least he was quiet and did not speak out against that outrageous statement.
This is more than about Rush the person. This was about the speech he gave and if you listened to the speech and agree with it then it is not only Rush but you, and all other grassroots conservatives that Michael Steele has rebuked in the harshest of terms.
Well, if that is the way the "leader" of the GOP feels about me then I say no, no, no, not God Bless the GOP, GOD DAMN the GOP. It isn't the party I thought I knew!

I prefer the WH focus on economic and security issues rather than individual US citizens who disagree with policy decisions.

Memo to GOP: Allowing Rush to hijack your entire party is not the way to rebuild and rejuvenate a struggling movement.

Steele wasn't the only apologist to Limbaugh - there were a couple of other Republican senators who recanted after speaking out against his hoping Obama would fail. It looks like the more reasonable figures in the GOP were directed to eat dirt. Rahm was right about Limabaugh maintaining a leadership position in the party. So long maladaptive GOP and good night! Better and better mornings are coming.

Hey Jake, if you have any stones, why don't you ask Gibbs if he wanted G.W. Bush to succeed?

"Remember when dissent was patriotic?"
I don't remember it being patriotic when we were getting scammed into the war in Iraq.

If Mr. Gibbs reads this blog, I want him to know: make no mistake about it, I WANT PRESIDENT OBAMA TO FAIL.
Why?
Because I want America to survive and succeed.
Remember when dissent was patriotic?

If Obama's goal is to move the U.S. towards a socialist-style government and society, then I hope Obama fails.
If Obama's goal is to make the U.S. less safe, then I hope Obama fails.

"Are you saying that Hillary did not have vocal support from ardent feminists? Having been a former public official from the Democrat party in the San Francisco area, I can certainly verify this by first-hand evidence."
So you are saying Limbaugh is correct and also agree with him all these women also had two or three abortions?
Despicable.

"I deal with HIPPA so I don't need to read up on it. The government has the rights to use those records."
Could you show where in HIPPA, it allows the government the right to use those records?

"I debunked nothing."
You stated the stim bill had language it did not. You even demonstrated what language the stim bill actually contained.
"Government approved/not approved treatments are a logical next step for "fiscal responsibility."
Ahhh the slippery slope logical fallacy.

"I admitted I was wrong about tax by the mile being solely a democratic idea; its bipartisan."
You didn't admit you were wrong and you have yet to name a single Democrat that was on board with the idea.
"However I don't expect you to admit you're wrong about S.160."
You have a problem with "provide the District of Columbia a voting seat and the State of Utah an additional seat in the House of Representative" as proposed by Joe-mentum?

"To encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership, and to ensure that the public airwaves are used in the public interest."
Media ownership diversity is not the fairness doctrine.
I don't see the problem with limiting how many media outlets 1 entity can own in a single region. While having different owners does not guarantee diversity in opinion, its at least possible vs the handful of companies we now have that control nearly all media outlets.
