Key Obama Ally Says President Obama Did Not Follow the Law in IG Firing
June 16, 2009 6:23 PM
After being briefed today on President Obama’s firing last week of Gerald Walpin, Inspector General of the Corporation for National and Community Service, Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said the president did not abide by the same law that he co-sponsored – and she wrote – about firing Inspectors General.
“The White House has failed to follow the proper procedure in notifying Congress as to the removal of the Inspector General for the Corporation for National and Community Service,” McCaskill said. “The legislation which was passed last year requires that the president give a reason for the removal.”
McCaskill, a key Obama ally, said that the president’s stated reason for the termination, “Loss of confidence’ is not a sufficient reason.”
She added that she was “hopeful the White House will provide a more substantive rationale, in writing, as quickly as possible.”
We’ve covered this story HERE and HERE and HERE.

senator: I actually liked you for a day or two when you called King Obama on his error in firing the inspector general. Then after Obama said he was "confused and disoriented" you said the firing was understandable or some such inane comment. Why didn't you just say that his henchmen got to you and threatened you? Everyone thinks that anyway.
Tell me, does God answer to Obama?

I think i've seen this somewhere before…but it's not bad at all

Nothing this administration is doing is legal. Laws and the Constitution mean nothing to them. The President is forming his own government with 16+ “czars” to run every aspect of our lives. Congress is either clueless or looking the other way as they lose their power to the executive branch.

We don't need no stinkin laws!

". . . the president did not abide by the same law that he co-sponsored – and she wrote – about firing Inspectors General."
Silly people. 0bama co-sponsored the law, but it was never meant to apply to him. It was meant for those other people, the mere mortals. 0bama cannot be bothered by laws, mere words on paper, when he is the highest authority.

The firing of the Inspectors General is scandalous. I've seen Mr. Walpin interviewed - he is not confused or demented. It's just that he was doing his job and Pres. Obama didn't like where the investigation was going. Come ABC news, where is your outrage? If this was George Bush, you'd be screaming foul!

Question: Was Mr. Walpin more - or less - confused than Barry Obama is without his teleprompters working?

So Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri what are you going to do about it? Voters in your district elected you to uphold the law, now that you found out a law was broken what are you going to do about it? We are waiting...

Jake, this needs to be posted on the Home Page and reported on ABC NEWS on TV. Think that'll happen?

I am just as deeply appauled by the ACORN situation.
1. Under investigation in 20 states for outright voter fruad. 400,000 votes we know of.
2. obama&pelosie are blocking any attempt to question or look into an 8 BILLION grant for them to conduct the 2010 population count. - GREAT now it can it be minulapited to redistrict,
and cement power for the demogogs
Talk about a stolen election, what did we just go through?
And to boot another 108 Billion for the Bush War.
When is enough going to be enough???

I'm hoping the crisis in Iran will open up our socialist President. Mr. Loser President, u keep pushing it, the same crisis will happen here in the US! And we can't wait until the day you get thrown out and never be heard from again! All the major networks are so dumb to think that we will listen to whatever they report. Look at your profits and you'll see how effective you are trying to push your propaganda. Thank god for the discovery, tlc, science, natgeo, etc channels.

This administration is really really starting to scare me!!!

I can not fathom how Obama can simply fire Gerald Walpin, Inspector General of the Corporation for National and Community Service without giving Congress 30 days notice! Obama is simply taking control of our Government on a daily basis and doing so well beyond the limits of the Constitution. Where is the justice? Why are we letting this impostor continue with his illegal agenda? Come on people let's stand up for our rights and those that are trying to do what is right for us!

Butterfly, also, Michele Obama had her law license pulled for good! No one has revealed why as of course the transparent Obamas refuse to divulge.

jhw, what about the fact that according to the law Sen. McCaskill wrote, the president is supposed to notify the Congress 30 days PRIOR to firing an IG? Check your talking points and get back to us, okay?

Talkingoutloud needs to realize we have had elitists/progressives in office since Teddy Roosevelt. Obama and the current administration and Congress are not elitists? Most of Congress are lawyer's, Barry and Michelle are lawyer's from ivy league colleges. Is that not elitist. To me I would rather have a Capitalist over a Communist any day. Carter and his administration crippled our intelligence gathering and unleashed radical Islam. Barry's only going to make things worse and destroy this economy.

How refreshing!! I thought the only place you could find posts from Obama-skeptics was FOX. MSM would have you believe everyone loves him except a few kooks who tune into FOX.

WOW - I'm so shocked (sarcasm)! I hope the newly fired IG is able to smack this totalitarian gov. ASAP! He plans to fight; I plan to cheer him on! Wonder how many news stations will cover it (not ABC for sure)? Wonder how the WH will "spin" it? Wonder if Claire will stand with the fired IG or with the corrupt WH?
Oh, how I wonder if this will help end Obama's term or any chance of him "attempting" another run? I have lots of hope for a big change!
