Rev. Wright: I Meant to Say “Zionists” Are Keeping Me from Talking to President Obama -- Not Jews

June 11, 2009 3:08 PM

In an interview on a liberal satellite radio show, Rev. Jeremiah Wright attempted to clarify his comments to the Newport News, Virginia. Daily-Press about “them Jews” preventing him from speaking to President Obama.

“Let me say like Hillary, I misspoke,” Wright said. “Let me just say: Zionists.”

Wright said “I’m not talking about all Jews, all people of the Jewish faith, I’m talking about Zionists."

The president’s former mentor and pastor made the comments on the SIRIUS LEFT show “Make it Plain” with Mark Thompson. You can listen to his comments HERE.

Wright then criticized Israel,  saying, “I quote Jews when I say this,” and referencing books by Jewish authors such as “Judaism Does Not Equal Israel: The Rebirth of the Jewish Prophetic” by Marc Ellis and “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine” by Ilan Pappe.

“I’m talking about facts, historical facts,” Wright said. “I’m not talking about emotionally charged words or the fact that like Jimmy Carter’s book, that because he used the word that Jews use, ‘apartheid,’ he gets labeled anti-Semitic.”

“They can jump on that one phrase if they want to,” Wright said, “but they can’t, they can’t undo history. They can’t undo the facts of Jewish historians  and Jewish theologians who write about what’s going on, who write about the enormous influence that AIPAC has on our government and on United States policy and the United Nations.”

(Wright did not identify who “they” was.)

In his original interview with the Daily-Press, Rev. Wright was asked if he’d spoken to President Obama since his inauguration.

"Them Jews ain't going to let him talk to me," Wright said. "I told my baby daughter that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office.”

Wright said he would tell the president, if he could, to stay true to himself.

“He’s gotta do what politicians do,” Wright said. “Ethnic cleansing is going on in Gaza, “Ethnic cleansing the Zionist is a sin and a crime against humanity, and they don't want Barack talking like that because that's anti-Israel.”

Rev. Wright also said that “the Jewish vote, the A-I-P-A-C vote, that’s controlling him, that would not let him send representation to the Darfur Review Conference, that’s talking this craziness on this trip, cause they’re Zionists, they would not let him talk to someone who calls a spade what it is. “

(It should be noted that since his inauguration, President Obama has visited with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Saudi King Abdullah, Jordanian King Abdullah, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. It’s unclear what Rev. Wright would say to the President about the plight of the Palestinians that these Arab leaders would be unwilling to say.)

At least SOMEBODY is calling a spade a spade. The American and Canadian governments have been usurfed by zionists. Zionism is terrorism. It's refreshing to hear an educated, sensible politician speaking plainly about reality. Especially in an ear where the zionists have such a stranglehold on our media.

That's been proven to be miscredited to Mr. King. He NEVER said that NOR was it in any letter he wrote. It is a fabrication. Zionism isn't healthy for living organisms period.

Rev. Wright is a HATER at heart. Face it, our country is being run by liars, thieves, and bullies. If any conservative said these things they would be torn into bits. BHO has no values, character, or honor. Anyone who would sit through this piece of junk "REV" sermons has to be a hater. BHO was raised by his Grandparents who were white? Yet he listens to a man who is a prejudging hater for 20 years. God help our country! Vote him out in 2012!!!!!!

of Senator Barack Obama's Announcement for President
Springfield, IL | February 10, 2007:
It was here, in Springfield, where I saw all that is America converge - farmers and teachers, businessmen and laborers, all of them with a story to tell, all of them seeking a seat at the table, all of them clamoring to be heard. I made lasting friendships here - friends that I see in the audience today.

It was here we learned to disagree without being disagreeable - that it's possible to compromise so long as you know those principles that can never be compromised; and that so long as we're willing to listen to each other, we can assume the best in people instead of the worst..............I personally find this last paragragh to give me some understanding of the man who would become president, the statement "so long as you know those principles that can never be compromised"quote, one can understand why someone who is willing to listen and be in the presents of different negative contacts but never compromising your principles, all of us know someone like Rev.Wright, we know them but are not like them.

Senator Barack Obama's Announcement for President
Springfield, IL | February 10, 2007:
My work took me to some of Chicago's poorest neighborhoods. I joined with pastors and lay-people to deal with communities that had been ravaged by plant closings. I saw that the problems people faced weren't simply local in nature - that the decision to close a steel mill was made by distant executives; that the lack of textbooks and computers in schools could be traced to the skewed priorities of politicians a thousand miles away; and that when a child turns to violence, there's a hole in his heart no government alone can fill.

It was in these neighborhoods that I received the best education I ever had, and where I learned the true meaning of my Christian faith.........The understanding of one's faith doen't alway come from church that one belongs to but by the experience of personal life, thus this is where the President begin to understand about Christian faith.

Didn't Mel Gibson get into a lot of trouble some years ago for a similar comment ??

Is the Reverend going to go into rehab also?

Rev. Is right. Palestinian people is victism of israeli genocide

Posted by: PARALLAX THE KILLER | Jun 12, 2009 4:40:16 PM

Wow, he's baaa-aack!! This old doofus is one of the reasons we had misgivings about Barack Obama. How can ANYONE sit in that "church" for 20 years and NOT be anti-American and anti-Semiite? As far as we know Barack Obama never at any time objected to the hate-filled rants this man made from the pulpit for all those years. NOw we are finding out that Barack Obama met, secretly, with the Reverend during the campaign. Why wasn't this investigated by the MSM? Oh.....never mind......we already know.

I'd like to point out that what Rev. Wright said and the nut who shot up the Holocaust Memorial are utterly and completely different. What Wright said was basically no different from the pundits who say that it will be difficult for the Republicans to fight the Sotomayor appointment because they need the latino vote. The nut who shot up the Memorial talked about Jews controlling the banks and media - you know, the same anti-semitic b.s. that hasn't changed since Henry Ford wrote "The International Jew." Wright talked about the absurd influence of AIPAC and other Zionist lobby groups who defend the apartheid Israeli regime by smearing critics as anti-semites. Wright has said some nasty things, but this one was just poorly timed and badly worded.

Fascinating how none of the racists/terrorists leftys are quoting had a direct connection to the POTUS for 20 years. But you keep that moral equivalency going.

Whether it's Rev. Wright and his rant, or Pat Robertson advocating killing Hugo Chavez, and Hurricane Katrina was gods punishment, or Jerry Falwell saying that America deserved 9/11 ....
or the Vatican hiding and covering for the ped priests for hundreds of years

Religious hypocrites are exactly that, they proclaim the 'good word' and spread hate and division. you just have to look at who represents the 'faithful' and see how much cash they're asking you to fork over to support their luxury life styles.

re: 'racists/terrorists"
you should at least make a small effort to understand the difference between very hateful, uncomfortable protected speech and right-wing murderer/intimidation squads using religion and the constitution as a justification for their atrocities.

That pinging sound you hear is Wright's screws continuing to fall out his head. What a pathetic crab in the barrel is he.

I intentionally left out Rev because he gets not reverance from me. But Hannity loves him so much so that he decided to open up his show with this incoherrent rant that wright made.

I would venture to say that Obama does not want to see this crackpot ever again. He would get a clue when Obama disowned him last year.

About that sleazebag Hannity, he rails against Letterman when he himself invited the kook minister on his show that demeaned obama's deceased parents. He basically called them ####. Letterman is a comedian, this guy was a minister.

Wright and Hannity are pathetic

racist is one thing discriminating is something too; doing people wrong because of there race color ect. Is something too.
Right is right wrong is wrong Jesus said you have the poor... do for them...that mean help them leave rev wright alone think what you say he was wright about many of you. why obama can not address the race problem in america but he can go all the way to Europe and address the jews loss in Europe but will not help the blacks in the united states like he should.

This guy is a racist and bigot same as the kook who shot up the holocaust museum...they are a cancer in our society that must be eradicated for us to move forward...unfortunately I see a will to do it on one side but defening silence on the "wright"side

It helps you look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself how wonderful and right you are while everyone who thinks other than you is a moron.

Millions of people go to the polls for the purpose of preventing their fellow citizens from enjoying full civil rights.

Men professing to be ministers of the Gospel of Christ create camps where children are taught to "defend their faith" with violence.

For those of you who believe the Jews are controlling everthing: The Jewish population in the U.S. is a little over 5 million (as of 2006). To put this in perspective a little bit, the African-American population is over 40.7 million (as of 2007); the Hispanic population 45.5 million (as of 2007); and caucasian population over 200 million.

Anti-Semites just love to lie and say, "Oops, I didn't Jews, I meant Israelis." Wright is a racist, bigoted, anti-Semite. And all those left-wing, liberal, self-hating that voted for Y'Obama are going to get screwed in the end.

Posted by: Jimmy37 | Jun 12, 2009 10:38:52 AM

I for one don't see a thing in the world wrong with what Rev.Wright says.As long as the truth and things people need to hear is swept under the rug all of you that have a problem with what Rev. Wright says is fine.Personally I think some of the hateful comments made on this messageboard since Obama won the election is worse than what Rev.Wright said.

Most racists will not see anything wrong with what Wright said. Most racists will agree with him whole-heartedly.
