President Obama Urges Major Economies Forum Nations to Act on Climate Change

July 09, 2009 3:47 PM

President Obama today pledged a strong U.S. role in global efforts to curb climate change and called upon his fellow attendees of the Major Economies Forum on Climate Change to work in the coming months to come up with commitments to lessen greenhouse gases.

"In the past, the United States has sometimes fallen short of meeting our responsibilities," regarding climate change, Obama told the leaders of 16 other leading economies, but added, "those days are over."

"As I wrestle with these issues politically in my own country, I've come to see that it is going to be absolutely critical that all of us go beyond what's expected if we're going to achieve our goals," the president told fellow attendees. "While we don't expect to solve this problem in one meeting or in one summit, I believe we've made some important strides forward," Obama said.
But like the Group of Eight industrialized nations Thursday, the MEF today committed to nothing more than non-binding goals.

For instance, the MEF acknowledged the presiding scientific view that the increase in global average temperature above pre-industrial levels ought not to exceed 2 degrees Celsius, but described no concrete steps the attendees would take to prevent a rise of more than 2 degrees from happening.

Obama said after insulting the USA yet again ""As I wrestle with these issues politically in my own country, I've come to see that it is going to be absolutely critical that all of us go beyond what's expected if we're going to achieve our goals," First of all these are NOT "our" goals, these are the collectivist (socialists) agenda. Let freedom ring, reject Obama, never buy GM or GE products. Live free or die trying...... Don't worry about liberals, they always run away when confronted.

Mehhhh...cut the guy a break. I'm gay and even I would stare at a woman's behind if it looked like that. Heck, the other day, a busty woman walked into our lobby...and all of us stared-- Every one of us...gay and straight.

Now if he slapped her rear...well, then, that's quite another story.

Impeach him! Impeach him!

Is that French President Sarkozy snickering at Obama while he's checking out that gal's assets? Somebody in the news room didn't get the memo, you're not supposed to show his holiness in an embarrassing light!

Boys will be boys!

Yes, mwn look even at women with flat hinies! However, unlike the door mat that is Mark Sanford's stupid wife, Michelle would not allow her husband to walk all over her the way Jenny Sanford did. Her husband asked her if he could visit his mistress and she told him know. She should have thrown him out just for asking that but, she's an idiot. Then, he went anyway and she's still willing to take him back? As a black woman I can tell you that this would not have been my reaction! I'd have thrown deputy dog out!

I'm no fan of Obama but I can't fault him for looking. At least he didn't let fly with a Chris Tucker-esque "DAMN!"...but it would have been a lot cooler if he did.

That skirt is hideous. A bigger picture is on Drudge, the woman behind him is NOT Michelle.

I believe the woman in the blue flower-print skirt and black top in the background is Michelle.

Ohh... I can see it now, first the "round table" discussion, then the "harsh criticisms" from the usual talking heads. Then the GOP Senate panel, special prosecutor, Grand jury...

I don't like anything Obama does -- but I don't see the big deal about the picture. Any man will do that and most women will turn around and look at a good looking guy. We're human. I'd wonder about him if he didn't look, actually.

Michelle's angry brows had disappeared, I predict they'll make a comeback.

Posted by: Giggles | Jul 9, 2009 6:17:16 PM

Gotta love that pic... with Sarkozy looking on in approval... Bet the FOX news and the tab's are eating that up!

Posted by: 1enlightened | Jul 9, 2009 6:14:04 PM

Damn, Obama should have just taken a photo.

Posted by: Chuck | Jul 9, 2009 6:13:48 PM

Look like he was looking at that lady's b***.
Don't let Michelle know!

Posted by: catleya | Jul 9, 2009 6:11:52 PM

The only staight men who wouldn't have looked would be the ones who are terrified of their wife (who I believe is in the background).
