ABC News’ Karen Travers reports:
President Obama is making his first day of vacation on Martha’s Vineyard a sporty one.
He started off the day with tennis with first lady Michelle Obama and is now golfing 18 holes at the Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs.
Mr. Obama, donning brown long pants and a black golf shirt, teed off just before 1:30 and was joined by Dr. Eric Whitaker, a friend from Chicago; Robert Wolf, president of UBS Investment Bank and aide Marvin Nicholson.
Onlookers gathered to watch the tee shot from the Duffer-in-Chief, who acknowledged the cheers with a few waves.
“Hey man, how are you,” Mr. Obama said to someone in the crowd. “Good to see you man. No swimming right now.”
A little boy was heard shouting, “Hi Obama!”
Obama frequently hits the links in Washington but has admitted he is “terrible.”
"It's a game that I keep on thinking I should be good at, and somehow the ball goes this way and that way and never goes straight," the president told a Russian television network earlier this summer.
