Another Link Between Top Obama Official and "9/11 Truther" Movement? Source Says No *
September 04, 2009 9:55 AM
On Thursday an administration official told ABC News that controversial White House official Van Jones's signature on a 2004 petition suggesting that the Bush administration let 9/11 happen in order to justify war because he did not carefully review the language in the petition.
It's worth pointing out that Ben Smith at Politico has spoken to two signatories of that petition, Rabbi Michael Lerner and historian Howard Zinn, who say they were misled about what they were signing. And the conservative website Little Green Footballs points out that Rachel Ehrenfeld, author of “Funding Evil; How Terrorism is Financed and How to Stop It" has posted on her website, the American Center for Democracy: "PLEASE NOTE: Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld is not a signatory of the 911Truth.org. She has asked several times to have her named removed from the list, but the organization failed to comply."
On Friday, another link between Jones and the Truther movement seemed to have emerged Friday, though a source close to Jones denied it.
It all seemed a distraction for the Obama administration, which spent much time and energy belittling the fringe "Birther" movement of those alleging, despite myriad evidence, that President Obama was not born in the U.S.
Jones said in a statement yesterday that he did not agree with the 2004 Truther petition and it "does not reflect my views now or ever."
On Friday a 2002 document emerged in which Jones was on the "organizing committee" of a newspaper called WAR TIMES -- "A New, Biweekly, Tabloid Newspaper Opposing the 'War on Terrorism.'"
The WAR TIMES document asserts that the "world's most powerful nation has mercilessly bombed Afghanistan and is installing a neo-colonial government of its own choosing, although that country has never attacked the U.S. Millions of Afghans have been displaced and face starvation this winter. The administration has also green-lighted massive Israeli assaults on Palestine, and it threatens to attack Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, and other countries. The agenda seems clear: to remake the world in the rightwing image with little regard for human consequences."
WAR TIMES's announcement appeared with the announcement of a protest march demanding a congressional inquiry into whether and how much the Bush administration may have played a role in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
But a source close to Jones said that “Jones didn’t participate in and wasn’t part of this march at all. He spent a very brief time on the board of the magazine War Times.” The source says no other connections to the Truther movement other than the petition exist.

I would wholeheartedly agree that it is inappropriate for any government official to use derogatory/inflammatory language and make grave accusations without reliable evidence.
Might we also agree that it is inappropriate for journalists, news commentators and news stations to use derogatory/inflammatory language and make grave accusations without reliable evidence?
American values require that we hold everyone to the same high standards.
Perhaps we should discuss what the standards should be for news commentators (conservative or liberal) and government officials ( Republicans or Democrats.)

What is it going to take before some one will address the issue of Obama right to be president He will destroy the country we all love at least 50% percent of do. We are being held hostage because he is half black and every body is a afraid of the black up rising if he was to be removed. In four years we will be owned by China and our military will not be able to defend us against the boy scout.
But Obama will have his special force to protect him from us.As we are all bad as I was a special Forces solder that makes me real bad.

First. I think Mr Trapper has been better than most of his collegues in MSM. These people have editors you know. I applaude him walking the line.Is it better he quit, or keep pushing his bosses limits.? He is one of very few outside Fox, who whas and will ask question in MSM.
I agree with Scorp 3j, as the President said " I am those who are around me. IE : there are 1,00's of Jones, and lets face it, he is still with Appolo , and the WH statement said " he will continue to :advise the president. So the snake has gone under ground.
Use their own methods to defeat the "elite ( elite...right, or left shall I say) and remember there are 37 more.
You want to help, search for information, film, print on Cass Sunstern, Mark LLyod,Carol Browner. Do not link it without saving to disk.
I am certain they are "scrubbing the walls " as we speak. Find the info and burn it to disk !!!!!
Mr Trapper, I know you are limited in what you can ask. The pressure must be tremendous, but this is our Country at stake. If there is 1 Van Jones, there are 1,000's of others. At least you walk the line. I know it must be hard personally.
Our Country is worth more than anything, but I applaude you for being at least 1 in MSM who tries.
The rest of them can and should fall. This " sex, drugs Rock n Roll, plus power and money Administration will fail.
Find video and print on the czars people. This makes it so MSM cannot ignore the problem.

Instead of just saying the the MSM is in the tank for Obama.
I would like to know WHO exactly at ABC is making these decisions and why. Who made the decision NOT to investigate communists in the White House? Who made the decision not to report on other, very racial comments by Jones?
Does the white house tell them? Do they just do it because they believe the same way? Why do they hide the fact that there are radical progressives attempting to hijack our country?
What ever happened to investigative reporting...
These news agencies need to be held accountable by the people who watch them.
Liberals need to stop blaming republicans and republicans need to stop blaming liberals and we need some answers. This is OUR country... It doesn't belong to a small elitist minority... It belongs to the YOU and ME!

"those alleging, despite myriad evidence"
Politicians come and politicians go; and, through it all, the adjectival form of the word "myriad" should only be used with countable nouns. In the phrase above, "evidence" cannot be enumerated, so "myriad" doesn't work. A good alternative might have been "despite a buttload of evidence."

No wonder the term "Enemedia" is growing in popularity. The MSM appears to be completely in the tank for the Obama administration. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves, but just watching your ratings plummet is satisfactory. Journalism is dead, the MSM is dead. Long live the New Media.

I am done with ABC, NBC and CBS. A friend of mine told me to check out FOX and He was right, Fox is fair and balanced. They have the news days before you do. They cover the stories accurately I am telling all my friends to switch to FOX. OReilly and Beck do not have to make stories up.The Obama Czars/Administration give the stories to them with video. What more could a reporter ask for? Rush Limbaugh seems to be telling the truth way before your organization even thinks about it.

I hate that the wack job Glenn Beck had to uncover the truth about another Obama "czar" and not the MSM. Now he is after Cass Sunstein among others. Why didn't Obama vet this guy? Is the BO administration really this inept? It's starting to scare me and make me sorry I voted for him.

Why did you wait until he resigned to publish the Van Jones story. No wonder your ratings are in the crapper. We know you are sleeping with Obama, my question which one of you are doing the SWALLOWING??????????????????

I think if Van Jones was so innocent - he shouldn't have quit - now the world knows that he is nothing but a quitter. ;) Quitter, quitter, quitter - How's it feel to have that label? Don't say you didn't start it, don't expect it to end until all of your cronies quit or find themselves behind bars. Ok people, 29 more czars to go, or did he appoint someone else already?
Keep up the good work.

It amazes me that ABC will faithfully stand by the views of the far left. Have they been bought and sealed by this administration? Not one word was reported about Jones UNTIL FOX NEWS did their investigations and the American people did their homework and indeed found out the truth. Words do speak volumes, especially when taped and televised. So there is no smear, its called truth. America this is not about Democrats or Republicans, this is about freedom being manipulated and stolen from the hands of your children and grandchildren. This is about promoting racism, division and clearly using the American people as pawns in a game of political chess. Indignant and ignorant government officials who claim to represent us have not seen the light. They have not clue. I predict there will be a revolution of the American PEOPLE that this great nation has never seen before. Indeed you have woken a sleeping giant. Both parties possibly have seen their last days of tyranny. Americans will not tolerate our children’s and grandchildren’s futures being played with on a chess board of political power driven self serving arrogant tyrants who think they know what is best for all and WILL have their agenda supported by the bought media. Tea parties might be ignored, the Van Jones of the world might slither off, but while the media is sleeping with a party and being paid to, there is the voice of freedom that will be ringing from the tops of homes across this great nation that will not be bought. America is watching, she will be on your door step and she will demand accountability and if her voice is not heard, indeed there will be a revolution. Wake up.

President "I didn't know" Obama and his UPSTANDING administration. UGH!
He is either the dumbest man on earth or the biggest liar.
I think we all know which it is.

Well, no worries, folks. You got your way. He's resigned.

Go ahead, Alyson- Mention that 9/11 was set up by our government to one of the victim's families.
***
I don't think that. Why would I mention it to them? I think the orchestration and/or allowed to happen stuff is crazy town crapola. Now if you want me to mention the unanswered questions and incompetence, I'll go there, no problem-- though I'd hate to open wounds which hopefully have healed. To you, I will also mention this-- in addition to the information Jake provided regarding Howard Zinn, Rabbi Michael Lerner and Rachel Ehrenfeld, per Grist, Paul Hawken has also released a statement corroborating Jones take on the petition:
"In the fall of 2004, I was approached by 911Truth.org to support the grieving families of the 9/11 tragedy. Family members who had lost a loved one, and many American citizens, felt that the 9/11 Commission had not fully explored key questions involving that fateful day.
My concern then and now was for the victims. I felt that a deeper inquiry into policies and security would be helpful to reach a fuller understanding of the cause of 9/11 and how to prevent future terrorist attacks.
I do not recollect any of the questions that are posed on the website, never saw the subsequent press release of Oct 26, 2004, and never signed such a statement. I was interested in questions, not blame; inquiry, not jumping to conclusions.
It is unfortunate that Van’s name has been used in this way as I know he would not knowingly endorse a statement that would place blame or create divisiveness."

Obama told an interviewer "if you want to know my policies, look at who I have surrounding me." We're looking, Obama, we definitely are looking.
We're looking at Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko, Rashid Khalidi, Fr. Phleger Van Jones, John Holdren, Mark Lloyd, Cass Sunstein, Jeff Jones, who helped write the stimulus bill and co-founder of the Weather Undeground along with Bill Ayers.
Thanks for asking us to look, Now maybe if the mainstream media will look, maybe we can get rid of you and all the people who "surround" you.
