GOP Rep: President Obama is “An Enemy of Humanity”
September 29, 2009 12:29 PM
At the conservative How to Take Back America Conference over the weekend, Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., had some harsh words for President Obama.
Franks told those assembled: “Obama's first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers' money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries. Now I gotta tell you, a president that will do that, here's almost nothing that you should be surprised at after that. You shouldn’t, we shouldn't be shocked that he does all these other insane things. A president that has lost his way that badly, that has no ability to see the image of God in these little fellow human beings, if he can't do that right, then he has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity.”
The video was recorded by the liberal People for the American Way, and reported by Alex Koppelman at Salon.
UPDATE: Franks' spokeswoman, Bethany Haley, tells ABC News that Franks “was specifically talking about abortion” and told her that “he should have said ‘unborn’ humanity,” as in: ‘President Obama is an enemy of unborn humanity.’
As to what Franks was specifically referring to when he said President Obama’s “first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers' money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries,” Haley points to President Obama’s January 23, 2009 executive order reversing the ban that prohibits funding to international family planning groups that provide abortions, the so-called “Mexico City” policy.

Bill O’Reilly came out with a delicious half-truth just last Thursday. During his “Pinheads and Patriots” segment, he said: “A new study by Sacred Heart University in Connecticut says that Fox News is THE most trusted television news network in the USA. 30% of Americans say FNC is their most credible source of information. Second was CNN at 19%. Waaay down the list - NBC news 7 ½ %. For doing the study, the folks at Sacred Heart are patriots.”
But, Spinmeister O’Reilly conveniently left out the next sentence in the study: Fox News was also the television news organization trusted LEAST.
Fox News was waaay at the top of the least trusted list with 26%. Distant runners-up were NBC News and MSNBC, both with less than 10%.
File that under The Spin of Omission.
(And why do I get the feeling that arkie vet will pooh-pooh Pulitzer Prize winning PolitiFact as a source for disproving Foxy lies?)

Peter --"Your party resents Obama because he managed to do something your leadership failed to do: PROVIDE HOPE."
___________
Just a quick lesson for you.. Providing Hope is the job of the Clergy, your family, or your friends.
The job of a president is to provide RESULTS against a need for the nation.
In his first 245 days, the president gave 260 speeches. It might sound good, but HOPE does not return jobs, right the economy, win wars, or stymie despots and their aspirations (Iran, Afganistan, etc).. the election is won, the time for talk of Hope is over..the question now is whether or not this president has anything to offer other than nice speeches.. so far, apparently not.

Phoenix Lady - "Conservatives are great "friends of humanity", until they are born, After that, not so much. What they really (b)elieve in is every man for himself and Devil take the hindmost."---
_________
Believe it or not, as a conservative, I agree with you on that to an extent.
The principle is "to every man based on his ability" as opposed to the socialist principle of "to every man based on his need". It IS what this country was founded on.. that every man would have the unfettered opportunity to excel based on his own personal ability. With that unfettered ability also comes the ability to fail. It is a side affect of liberty. Binding the individual in a "safety net" may prevent initial individual failure, but it dooms the entire society to eventual failure.

Peter, here is your chance to redeem yourself.. Simply prove yourself by citing one example from these guys that has been PROVEN to be inaccurate and thus supports your stance as reposted above.
Name something they said , then quote the source that disproves it.. but be forwarned... quoting the daily Kos or the Huffington Post will not stand as proof. I mean a legitimate source.

Peter-- your saying Carter did NOT play the race card?? How is saying that people who disgarre with Obama only disagree with him because he is black -not playing the race card?? What would you call it??
___________
"No. The GOP simply fails to take ownership for the racism it nurtures."
That is completely circular thinking..Your comment basically translates to " The proof that Dems are not playing the race card is that Republicans won't admit that they are all racist.."
"Learn to critically think...I cited OJ Simpson to illustrate that we are still very much a nation divided over race. THAT was once again made vivivdly clear when all hell broke loose over the Simpson trial.
Actually all hell did not break loose over the Simpson trial..It broke loose over the Rodney King trial. When a white jury aquitted a black man (simpson) for a crime he most probably committed, there were 0 riots. When whites were aquitted for beating a black man (King), there were riots and looting in the streets.. and you cite this as an example of existing racism in America.. when in fact its an example of just the opposite.. Blacks responded to a bad court decision against a fellow black person with riots, while a miscarriage of justice that benefited a black man went without incident in the white community.
Too late for you to quit while you are ahead.. I suggest you change topics and try to find something you can argue with at least some semblence of reality.

"Doomsday, I wouldn't put Bush down so fast, I mean we know nothing about your self professed Messiah"
Listen to you. More puppetspeak.
SELF-PROFESSED Messiah?
Talk about intellectual dishonesty...
Your party resents Obama because he managed to do something your leadership failed to do: PROVIDE HOPE.
So, now you're all sour grapes and YOU have called him a Messiah, and as a perjorative, as a mockery.
"Don't get on Beck, OReilly, and Hannity......all they do is deliver the truth!"
Exhibit A for your commitment hearing. Cheers, thanks a lot.

Coherent1: I never heard the overall conservative philosophy described so well. Great post.
Conservatives are great "friends of humanity", until they are born, After that, not so much. What they really nelieve in is every man for himself and Devil take the hindmost.

"Your post is totally inaccurate.. stop drinking the cool-aid."
First off, come up with a new line. An original thinker, you are not. You're a trained puppet.
Second, what would be the point of me attempting to refute your factually inadequate rant? Seriously.

"That the majority of Americans who disagree with Obama do so because he is black.
The race card gets played everytime anyone disagrees with his policy and the use of the race card is widespread throughout the democratic party.
Did you actually cite the Simpson trial as an example of Racism?? Are you kidding?? The guy was guilty as sin and still got off.. how is that racist??
The only thing that 'ain't pretty' is your thought process.."
Carter never said the majority of Americans who disagree with Obama are racists. NEVER.
"the use of the race card is widespread throughout the democratic party."
No. The GOP simply fails to take ownership for the racism it nurtures.
Learn to critically think...I cited OJ Simpson to illustrate that we are still very much a nation divided over race. THAT was once again made vivivdly clear when all hell broke loose over the Simpson trial.

Peter --"NO ONE has said anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist, so enough already." ---
Do I need to remind you of what former President Carter said just a week or so ago? That the majority of Americans who disagree with Obama do so because he is black.
The race card gets played everytime anyone disagrees with his policy and the use of the race card is widespread throughout the democratic party.
Did you actually cite the Simpson trial as an example of Racism?? Are you kidding?? The guy was guilty as sin and still got off.. how is that racist??
The only thing that "ain't pretty" is your thought process..

Peter--"In my entire life, I have never seen a NEWLY ELECTED President attacked and defied with such hostility and contempt; the GOP is sour grapes all over and it's abusive, unproductive, and childish" ----
______________
That was a joke right? the media has given BO a pass from day one... do you actually think that If Bush had been involved with Acorn there would not have already been a criminal investigation? What if Bush had put 35 czars in place - think that would have went unnoticed? What if 4 or 5 of them were card carrying socialists, and marxists? I'm sure the media would have just blew that off too as a non story..
Bush was investigated for two years on his guard service.. have you seen any investigations into Obama's work with ACORN?
Obama gives a speech to school children and some questions are raised about the propriety of a government produced study guide.. just questions thats all.. when the senior Bush was VP, he addressed publics schools and the Dems in congress launched an investigation to see if he could be prosecuted for misuse of government funds.
Joe Wilson is blasted for saying "you lie" (when in fact it WAS a lie) but no one said a word in 2005 when Bush was Booed REPEATEDLY by dems during his State of the union address..
Bush gets castigated because he spent 4.5 trillion in 8 years, yet no one says a word when this president spends 1.8 trillion in his first 8 months.
Everyone loved to mention that even though the unemployment rate under Bush was 5%, the "true rate" was over 10% when you considered everyone who had expended their benefits.. yet now NO ONE in the media is mentioning the fact that those same "true rates" are over 20% and rising for Obama...
Your post is totally inaccurate.. stop drinking the cool-aid.

"Traitor? Why didn't you use the latest anti-Obama smear characterization 'racist'? That seems to be the latest accusation for anyone who disagrees or is critical of this man. I think 'traitor' is rather partisan."
Yes, to you and your ilk it SEEMS to be the latest accusation, but that's because your MO is twisting and about absolute superficial analysis.
There IS a racist component in the hostility towards Obama and to deny it is simply intellectually dishonest.
Unless you've conveniently forgotten the violence of just over forty years ago, as African Americans fought for their civil rights.
Or unless you've conveniently forgotten the racial tension during the Simpson trial.
Need I go on?
NO ONE has said anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist, so enough already.
However, there is clearly an element of disrespect and hostility towards Obama and given how brief his stay in office has been, it is reasonable to surmise that there are issues of racial tension at play.
Franks a traitor?
Well, actually, I think that any elected official who runs his daily political life as if he wants this nation to be a theocracy, not a democratic Republic, is betraying the true ideals of the nation, yes.
And I do think Franks betrays his nation when he uses careless and ugly vitriol about the President that will undoubtedly rile the unstable and angry among us.
When the election was underway, I truly did not believe our nation was mature enough and ready to have a black man in the White House.
On election day, I was convinced.
Now, I'm not.
I believe THAT is what is really happening. We are WITNESSING firsthand our own immaturity as a nation and as a culture.
And it aint pretty.

Doomsday, I wouldn't put Bush down so fast, I mean we know nothing about your self professed Messiah.....man, the friend's he "hangs around with". Don't get on Beck, OReilly, and Hannity......all they do is deliver the truth, which O and his cronies are unable to do! 2010-2012 can't be soon enough to clean house!

He is entitle to his views. Freedom of Speech as the libs call it, but, to be sincere, POTUS is becoming a joke more than anything else. He speaks about doing something but does not specify sort of mumbling you know. He is more a disppointment for the liberals than a threat to the conservatives.Everyone called Bush names and no one made such a hysterical media frenzy. Grow up people no one is hurting Obama more than himself..Amen.

"It was meant to incite action - The difference is you want to see it as a 'call to arms and violence' for ideological convenience. I see it as a call for action to become more informed of issues, to get involved, to get voices (not arms) heard."
Nonsense. There is a climate of intensity, constructed via fabrication and distortions, and it was deliberately designed to incite the aggression in citizens who, like you, have been TRAINED like puppets to attack ANYTHING Obama, to bring about a so-called self-fulfilling prophesy of doom for the current administration.
I absolutely believe there are those in the GOP who would be silently pleased if Obama were killed.
Given the fact Obama is our first black President, riling the ignorant and the racist faction of our nation in such an aggressive "take no prisoners" manner is UTTERLY IRRESPONSIBLE AND BEYOND DEPLORABLE.
and
"C'mon Ryan, admit it. Your hero Obama, only 9 months in office, is turning into nothing short of an epic failure."
You've been well trained, too, I see, at prematurely calling Obama a failure, in your hopes that he WILL fail and you can say you called it.
Then your party can say, "See, you should have gone with us."
Transparent. Intellectually dishonest. Deplorable.
The party cares more about its ego and its power lust than it does about making life better for ALL Americans.
Obama is being villified for wanting to ENHANCE the lives of ALL. I wonder if you folks ever voiced opposition to the scores of innocents being slaughtered at Bush's directive.
I have lost ALL respect for the GOP and its current flock of sheep.

"this country is becoming a joke thanks to everyone who voted this dumb ### in office!!!"
After 8 years of Bush, this statement is pathetic.
The world has grown to hate us and has lost respect for us, and it's NOT because of Obama. It is because of the past eight years under Bush.
THAT's why Obama made the effort re: the Olympics. DAMAGE CONTROL.
Get a clue. Your statement is pitiful.

Just one more example of republican bomb throwers further marginalizing a dying party into oblivion.

"..their excoriation of Bush was hateful, constant, and unrelenting. Much better than the Right could ever do"
You are truly unbelievable.
In my entire life, I have never seen a NEWLY ELECTED President attacked and defied with such hostility and contempt; the GOP is sour grapes all over and it's abusive, unproductive, and childish.
The left started it? What is this, third grade?
But for the record...two words: Bill Clinton.
The GOP should publicly condemn a lot of the unnerving attacks on Obama we've all seen, or, if goodness forbid, Obama is violently attacked, the GOP and its loudmouth puppets (O'Reilly, Beck, Limbaugh, etc) will have blood on their hands.
Posted by: Peter | Sep 30, 2009 9:46:34 AM
That was reckless and damaging to his party, the head of the GOP needs to come down on him very hard !!!
