ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports:
President Obama today again focuses on help for America’s small businesses.
As a follow up the small business announcement the president made last week, he invited small business owners, members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and members of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) to the White House today.
In remarks set to be delivered in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building's South Court, the president will, “discuss his plan to help small businesses, including increasing access to capital and pushing for health reform that gives small businesses the ability to control health costs,” an administration official says.
Small Business Administrator Karen Mills and White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett held a meeting with small business owners Wednesday evening at the White House. The president will meet with small business owners for lunch next month.
In the afternoon, the president will meet with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore in the Oval Office, where they will briefly address the media.
The president will be in closed meetings for the rest of the afternoon. He meets with Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., in the Oval Office.
Afterwards, the first lady will join the president in the Oval Office while the president signs the Girl Scouts USA Centennial Commemorative Coin Act. The Act authorizes the U.S. Mint to make up to 500,000 $1 silver coins and 100,000 $5 gold coins that will include three Medal of Honor designs – for the Army, Navy and Air Force – in addition to a design for the Medal of Honor recipients. The Senate passed the bill last week by unanimous consent.
The president will also meet with representatives of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus on health insurance reform in the Roosevelt Room in the early evening.

"Why is Obama meeting the leader of a non democratic country? The people of Singapore, I hear, are crying out for freedom from tyranny."

Strange, Wikipedia says "Singapore is a parliamentary democracy with a Westminster system of unicameral parliamentary government representing different constituencies. The bulk of the executive powers rests with the Cabinet, headed by the Prime Minister, currently Mr Lee Hsien Loong."

Stimulus jobs overstated by thousands
WASHINGTON — An early progress report on President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan overstates by thousands the number of jobs created or saved through the stimulus program, a mistake that White House officials promise will be corrected in future reports.
The government's first accounting of jobs tied to the $787 billion stimulus program claimed more than 30,000 positions paid for with recovery money. But that figure is overstated by least 5,000 jobs, according to an Associated Press review of a sample of stimulus contracts.
The AP review found some counts were more than 10 times as high as the actual number of jobs; some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two and sometimes more than four times; and other jobs were credited to stimulus spending when none was produced.

The GDP grew by 3.5% in 3Q 2009. The media will now crow that Obama has ended the recession with his brilliant stimulus package and cash for clunkers.
Time to hoist the "Mission Accomplished" banner high above the deck of the USS Hope-n-Change. “We rescued the economy!”
But when we get a "double dip" recession now that the first-time homebuyer credit and C4C have both ended, then Obama will clearly own the inevitable downturn. He will not be able to take credit for growth in 3Q, and then blame Bush for a decline in 4Q. But he will surely try.

What? The Girl Scout Commemorative Coin Bill authorizes coins to honor the Medal of Honor? There are two separate coins. Who is your fact checker?
